Alan Shearer is managing Newcastle in my save too. IT's only 2013. Pep Guardiola has taken the Spain job. Fabio Capello has announced he's retiring after the season (Not even making it to the WC.)

So, after guiding Bishop's Stortford to a successful 2011/12 season I got offered a job at Norwich City and jumped at the chance to manage the club.
Have thus far, gotten rid of some players for pretty decent coin, while bringing in a few veterans and overall solid players: Rivaldo, Nuno Gomes, Ryan McGowan, Sotirios Kyrgiakos, Michael Owen, Nicky Shorey, Adel Taarabt, Chris Herd and Terry Antonis.
Rivaldo, Nuno Gomes and Michael Owen I all picked up on free transfers, with the former two only being used very so often off the bench. The likes of McGowan, Antonis and Herd all came relatively cheap as you'd expect and the only Aussie to start is the former. Kyrgiakos, Shorey and Taarabt are the only players I spent decent coin on but hopefully they prove worthwile signings.
Thus far have had a relatively unimpressive start to the campaign. 5 games: 1 win (Blackburn), 3 losses (Chelsea, Man City and Everton) and 1 draw (Tottenham). Pretty rough start of the season in regards to opponents.

Did the double in the 2nd season, Scottish Cup and League. Runners up again in the League Cup, this time to Rangers, and Had a decent go at Europe, got given a touch ECL group in which we finished 3rd (Bayern, Marseille, Celtic, Rubin) and then knocked out by Spurs in the first Europa KO round.
Moved on Ki, who wasn't signing a new contract, and Scott Brown, as well as Hooper. Brought in Goodwillie, Bannan and Cairney. Squad is set in terms of depth and players, it's now just a matter of taking each position that next step from Top SPL Quality to Good ECL quality.

Cairney could prove to be invaluable. I picked him as a squad player for the UK team for the olympics, him and Ramsay Wilshere pretty much carried the team to the gold medal.

Him and Bannan will be the core of my team for a while I'm hoping. Both Scottish, both hard working mids who are good in defence and attack. Nabbed Bannan for 2m and Cairney on a Free, massive value.

Has anyone ever had their keeper run down to join celebrations? Just scored a 90th minute winner in our season opener, and the keeper charged down to the other end of the pitch to join the team celebrating.

Started a new game. Wexford in the Irish 2nd division.
Semi-pro.
Estimated 10th.
Founded in 2007.
No history.
No trophies.
No money.
No Legends, Icons or Favoured Personnel.
A chairman who could leave in the future.
A 2500 (609 seated) stadium.
Top training facilities though.

I think I just got the Spain manager sacked  <3 Matthew Leckie. Then a few days later get the message that the Spanish manager has been sacked because of the recent poor results  EDIT: Have just won the MLS Western Conference with a game to spare and will pick up the supporters shield with a win in my last game. Will probably stay around for the Champions League campaign and leave after that depending on how I feel. Edited by sydneycroatia58: 2/12/2011 01:19:20 PM

Marseille and Man Utd were just on another level. It came down to the last day in the fight for 3rd, Celtic away to Juventus. Juventus on 2 points, Celtic on 1. And then this happened: So fucken proud. Also comes back to Juve's home match against us, where we were 3-0 down after 45 min, 3-1 down at HT, and then 3-3 level at the 58th. Hit the post twice in the last half hour, and kept them shotless for the half.

WC 2014 is going pretty well for me and Australia
Stuck in a group with Gabon, England and Slovakia. Beat Gabon 6-0, followed by a come from behind 3-1 win against England to qualify me for the 2nd round. Need just a draw against Slovakia to go through on top.

We came from behind to win the euro cup with the most yellow cards I can remember having in a match. Lucky for me that winning the competition give qualification into the next round because the win tired all my players and we lost to West Ham in the last game so they jumped into 7th spot ahead of us.

Wexford Youths - Season 2010/2011 - Airticity First Division (Ireland 2nd Tier) Media Prediction - 10th out of 11. Final Finish - 6th
Coming into a team with no money, no staff and no facilities makes for a pretty simple pre-season.
Get as many high profit friendlies as possible, search for the handful of staff you can get, then realise you can't sign any of them because they want too much £ and are shit anyway, sign one because you at least need a fitness coach, sort out the squad (work out which are the least shit players) then try and get some loans.
On the face of it the team wasn't complete crap, pretty basic players, not a lot to work with, but enough I felt I could make a decent (although tactically and technically limited) 4-4-2 big man/short man combination up front.
So we made a basic 4-4-2.
Very Rigid Defensive More Direct More Disciplined. Press More More Aggressie Tackling Default Marking Float Crosses (although this ends up changing with individual instructions later). No Roaming. Very deep defensive line. Medium Width. Medium Tempo Often Time Wasting. Counter Attack Yes No Offside.
Not many individual instructions were done, mostly to prevent long shots, to change the crossing to match what position on the pitch the player was in comparison to the target man.
Very mid-table year. Mostly beat the teams below us, lost to the ones above.
13 wins, 16 draws, 11 losses.
We ended with a +5 GD, the best defensive record in the league with only 38 conceded, and the 2nd worst attacking record with only 43 scored.
With the squad that I had I think that's a very good season.
We affiliated with Shamrock Rovers because they were giving us £11k per year.
Our season profit should end up being around £30 to 40k, leaving us with a balance of around £80,000.
The second season is always tricky. I've got a lot of players coming off contract, so it's time to weed out the ones who won't be staying, then trying to strength the squad with whatever funds are left.
Okay, I've sorted out what I need.
1st Choice MR 1st choice DMC CM Poacher DR
This is going to be a long and annoying off season bringing in trialists and scouting with my crap assisatnt (good enough at potential with 15, only got 10 for ability, and no-one better ability spotting will join me).
Well.. poacher signed.
A half-blind signing. Stephan Da Cruz, Amateur and can't be scouted, can't offer him a trial, but what I can see looks good. Just over 10 for Dribbling, Finishing and Composure, 14 for Agility, 15 for Pace. 13 penalty taking, which will give me someone with a better chance of scoring than missing, and has a bit of form for his current club.
MR signed. Some Brazilian, again, half-blind, but has pace, can dribble and cross, so he'll probably rape the league.
Charlie Miller xnod
Filled out the rest of the squad, we are 3rd after 9 games.

He is one of my better players. He gets injured more often than I would like though. He made his debut for Australia in 2013 but then didn't get another cap until I became manager after Postecoglou got sacked for a horrible World Cup campaign in 2018. Edited by chillbilly: 4/12/2011 10:28:53 PM
