What are they gonna do, push it back in until he gets there? Still it's the right thing to do. Hopefully for him it doesn't happen early.

Like as if the kid will even know when yer there. He's already done it. I guess personally, it wouldn't bother me to much - his wife on the other hand, can't have that nagging over yer head ;) My dad never saw me born cause he was working overseas. Didn't scar me or my mum...

Its just a sign of the times...IMO its more important what you do in the many years ie rest your life, of of parenting after the birth that counts Plenty of kids that hardly ever see their dads, many who were there at the birth.
