The big thing for me is that years down the track, when certain titles are no longer produced, how will I get a copy of the game? It won't be for sale anywhere except in the second hand market.

Another thing to note is that by discouraging buying and selling of used games, effectively there is a limit placed on the free market which does not benefit the consumer. Take Duke Nukem Forever as an example, weeks after release there was an influx of used copies of the game available. Why? Well the game was of poor quality and the secondhand price dropped considerably, forcing new copies of the game to become cheaper as a result. What this says is that the market attached a better price to he game, reflecting it's true quality. By restricting this, the market fixes a price on the game which is higher than what the market is willing to pay. Less copies are circulated and as a result consumers lose out big.

Why should I have to unplug my current console, to plug in my old console, just to play a different game? When the two consoles are made by the exact same company? What if my old console breaks down? I should have to spend more money on a "new" one, just to play those games?

"No it's ok, you're right, that is a hassle, here spend another $50 on that game, but the version for your new console, there you go!"

That is literally the only reason backwards compatibility doesn't exist. Because they know they can force people into buy extra copies of games they already own, just to "upgrade"

Yes, because Online Passes were the toast of the gaming town right? I don't think I've read a single person say they liked the idea of online passes.

EB games listed the new Xbox at $900. lol no way i can afford that now i have a mortgage. Ill just stick to the WiiU its good value and offers something a bit different. Will probably just upgrade my computer for half the price of the new Xbox.

Microsoft/Sony cant win. They use the same architecture as current gen, and it will be labelled as a 360v2, with minimal improvement. But when they do improve it, people bitch about backwards compatibility not working. What's benefits are there to playing a 360 game on the One? Especially if you already have a 360 in the first place

Thats not what I said at all. I said it makes sense that EA gives them up ($$$$$) when they know that there will be an existing system in place on the next gen to do it for them. Was a dig at ea.

Placeholder pricing mate. Wii U was also up for $900. Early indications suggets it will probably be around 450-500 aud.

Yeah don't pay any attention to what prices you see either the Xbox or PS4 as at EB or anywhere else. Until we get some concrete info it all means nothing, and it will obviously be nowhere near 900. like jlm said, probably half that.

It actually hits all the boxes with what I want from a device so far... Other than the DRM issues.

I use my 360 about 60% of the time as the a media device streaming movies and watching youtube, and only really buy one game a year (I rent therest so that's a problem).

To me it looks fine, too.

For me, at the end of the day it's a gaming console. If I want to stream movies and watch stuff on youtube I'll do that on my laptop. Yea it's great to have all that stuff as additional features but to focus primarily on that is really disappointing.

Focus of an Xbox will always be the games.

Someone on the Giant Bomb podcast made a good point. By taking care of all the periphery stuff now, Xbox can now focus on their launch titles & huge amount of exclusives at the far more important E3. People would be bitching like there's no tomorrow if they used their E3 time talking about the things they focused on today and not the games.

I think it will turn out to be a good strategic move in the long run.

Just have to wait and see I guess but today was a huge let down.

while the FIFA part of EA's press conference was all ignite stuff which I don't really pay attention to until I can try it in game (was hoping for new league announcements) I am exited to see a new Star Wars Battlefront is coming. just hope it has its own feel and is not somekind of battlefield clone with a star wars skin especially with DICE making it. should be interesting as the series skipped a whole (and long) console generation.

Xbox One to be $599 in Australia, only $100 more than the US. Not as bad as previous releases, and this is mostly just 'Australia' technology tax.

Funny watching Americans complain about having to pay $499 more than us Aussies having to pay $599 :lol: Most were hoping for it to be $399.

Reading all the news from the E3 conferences has made me realise just how bitter I am about the Gaming Industry.

I doubt there is going to be too much difference, and I certainly dont see the PS4 being cheaper. For me Xbox has the better exclusives so its xbox for me. Will probably pick up the PS4 when it's a bit older, like I did with the PS3.

How do you know this, Sony hasn't even done their press conference yet :lol:.

Assuming PS4 will be the same price, I might pick it up, or I might just abandon consoles all together. Don't think there's a single thing that could make me buy the Xbone, unless they somehow got all my favourite games as exclusive titles :lol:
