Finished The Last of Us today. Probably the best zombie game ive ever played, probably the best game ive played period. Interesting to note that despite it being an infection based storyline, its the survivors who come off as more dangerous.

I forked out on The Last of Us. Got to play what felt like 10 minutes, but was a solid hour last night. It's already shaping up to be the best game I've played in many years.
When the mrs & I play Zelda (which we revisit every few months) we have the best setup - I play, she's the backseat driver. She doesn't actually like playing, but genuinely loves watching and yelling out what to do. It looks and feels like I'm hogging the controller, but after years of offering her a go and her saying no, I know she's legit happy with the setup.
So recently I've been getting her keen on The Walking Dead tv show (we're midway through season 3 now), and have been getting her more & more keen on listening to our zombie apocalypse plan I've been preparing for us. So when I come home and say "I've got a Zelda-like game that is modern-day zombies", she was more than willing to give it a go with me (usually I come home with FIFA, to which she says "I'll go read". I think she's more obsessed with TLOU than I am - and I'm genuinely figuring out if I can call in sick to work or not just to play it for a full day. Never have I been so interested in storylines/cut-scenes, etc -
but the Mrs was crying and I was feeling gutted when Sarah (?) died at the start.
This game gon be good!

Why would you not spoiler that part about Sarah, ugh. Some of us haven't played the game yet and have been avoiding videos etc. that have spoilers in.

MaxiiGCU wrote:Why would you not spoiler that part about Sarah, ugh. Some of us haven't played the game yet and have been avoiding videos etc. that have spoilers in. Firstly, my bad. Secondly, fixed. Thirdly, I don't really think it's a spoiler. Everything non-spoiler thing I've read about the game clearly told me it was going to happen. Couple that with the fact that everyone is aware that the two main characters are some dude and a chick named Ellie (sp), then to (IMMA SPOILER THIS EVEN THOUGH I DON'T THINK IT'S NECESSARY)
intro the game with a chick called Sarah you immediately figure it out for yourself.
Fourthly, the game has been out for over a month. In the movies thread, spoilers are forgotten this late. If you're that interested in it to not want to read spoilers after a month, maybe you should have bought the game earlier - that's the "rules" in the movies thread so I'm assuming it could be applied here too. Let me know if that's not cool here in future though (although in reality I buy SFA games so I won't be much of an issue). Finally, #yolokebab Edited by pv4: 19/7/2013 08:54:20 AM

Not much of a spoiler, isnt really a massive part of the plot, more of a backstory that you barely play.

Ya'll should buy Gunpoint. Fantastic stealth/puzzle indie game, with a really cool twist on how you do things, and an amazing sense of humour.
EDIT: Also, smoooooooth jazz for a soundtrack. What's not to love?!

The Last of Us just keeps getting better and better. Legit loving it! For Shaker (aka those who have played it) I'm up to the town (Lincoln?) that Bill is at.
A few things that do my fxxing head in about the game though (I will spoiler for Maxi, but I highly doubt it's spoiling anything):
- your friends are dumb as fxxx. Don't know how many times they've just charged ahead in a room full of clickers and screwed me over - why dafuq are arrows not re-usable - why does he not own a re-usable knife? These deteriorating melee weapons are frustrating!
Yo Shaker, just out of curiosity (and because it either doesn't tell me, or I don't know where to look). Was just after a progress report on how far into The Last of Us I've made it so far, and how long to go (maybe percentage wise how much I've completed the story line)?
I'm just about to exit the sewers with Henry and his brother (the black guys from the patrolled town). How far in would you say I am?
Also what was your go-to weapon for when you were just cruising around, not knowing what you'd come up against next? I find myself starting off with the shotgun the most. I do love the bow when not sighted though.

Getting a bit bored of CODMW3, so I'm downloading Black Ops, and then maybe BlackOps 2. Is the story line for both games good?

The Black Ops campaign is pretty good actually, I enjoyed it. Haven't played the BO2's campaign yet, might get onto that soon actually. Best thing about either game is Zombies anyway.

Yeah I like to invest the time into stealthing a fair bit, so find the bow pretty handy as it's pretty lethal and doesn't give your position up (if you could recover the arrows it'd be near perfect). Haven't been the biggest fan of the hunting rifle yet - probably would be if I upgraded it though. Just got the flamethrower - jeez it makes bloaters (that's what they're called, yeah?) piss easy! Currently at the lab.

Finished The Last of Us last night. HFS that was amazing. Thinking of running through it again - and I get the feeling I get to keep my weapon upgrades if I do. Far out that game was the best video game I've ever played. OF ALL TIME, YALL!
