Just switched over from Xbox to glorious PC master race.

Seeing Skyrim on ultra settings compared to xbox.

It ran at like 10 fps so I had to turn it down, but still runs well on high.

It's still very early in its development. Worth a shot, but you have to remember that you're not buying a finished game.

I have a mate who's been playing this for years now. I distinctly remember him showing me because he was playing some other game and had to add/modify code to turn the game into DayZ. The game was unreal - I sat and watched him play for around an hour or two and it was hell intense. The majority of that hour or two was him just crawling through grass, with no one to be seen, aswell

It used to be a mod for Arma 2, and has since gone standalone. It's a lot more barebones than the mod was, so don't expect too much improvement from what pv is describing.

The updates will be free, but there's a large amount of trust involved in paying full price for a game that is not completed yet.

Have just started playing the mod on Arma 2, from what I've heard the standalone is still very very buggy (pre-alpha isn't it?) Considering the learning curve maybe start on the mod first.

Yep, that's the one he was playing! Graphics were dreadful but gameplay was unreal.

It was insanely good. Although he/we crawled for an hour or so, and saw pretty much nothing except some fences, a house & some trees, we were on the edge of our seat the whole time.

A few days later he sent me a text saying he crawled for an hour and managed to find (I think) a flashlight or something

Mod version of DayZ died in the arse due to hackers.

That game was one of the best experiences ever to have but was ruined once kunts started spawning choppers and shit all over the place.

Keen to see how standalone holds up to that.

My sisters BF got it the day it came out, and had something like 3-400 hours up by around christmas. I bought it a week or two ago, haven't played much, but I can feel it hooking me in, won't be long now.

I ended up buying DayZ Standalone, and I played it for roughly 2 hours. About a half hour into it I saw two guys who were stocked up with guns and good gear so I ran into a barn and hid on the roof with an axe and they told me to drop it or they would shoot me so I dropped it and came down and they robbed my pants and pretty much took the piss on chat(headset). It was pretty funny and I ended up adding them on skype and tagging along with them.
9/10 so far.

A friend of mine found someone, who held him at gunpoint, and then handcuffed him. Rather than just leaving my friend to die, he dragged him to this nearby house, down to the basement, and then started feeding him bleach. So it sounds like you got lucky :p

Far Cry compilation coming to PS3

Ubisoft has announced that to celebrate the 10-year anniversary of the Far Cry® franchise, a complete compilation called Far Cry: The Wild Expedition will release in Australia and will include Far Cry Classic, Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3 and Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon.

The compilation will be available in Australia on 13th February 2014 for PlayStation®3 for only $59.95.

In addition to the release of this retail compilation, Far Cry Classic will also be available on 13th February 2014 as a standalone downloadable title from PlayStation®Network.

Each Far Cry game included in The Wild Expedition compilation offers a unique storyline and setting that will keep gamers playing for many hours and experiencing the expansive open world beauty, original narrative and the memorable characters combined with Far Cry's classic FPS gameplay.

Far Cry Classic: Far Cry Classic is the premiere and ultimate console version of the very first Far Cry game. Take the role of charter boat captain, Jack Carver, who finds himself hunted by an unrelenting team of highly trained mercenaries in this nature-gone-wrong FPS adventure. This HD revamp features stunningly realistic foliage, real-time day and night cycles, drivable underwater, commandeer, or even flying vehicles, and more.

Far Cry 2: Caught between two rival factions in war-torn Africa, you are stricken with malaria and forced to make deals with corrupt warlords on both sides of the conflict in order to hunt down your mark - The Jackal. This version includes the full single-player campaign and Multiplayer.

Far Cry 3: Beyond the reach of civilization lies a lawless island ruled by violence and human suffering. This is where you find yourself stranded, caught in a bloody conflict between psychotic warlords and indigenous rebels, where your only escape is through drugs or the muzzle of a gun. Includes the full single-player campaign, Multiplayer and Co-op modes.

Far Cry 3: Blood Dragon: The year is 2007. It is the future. You are Sergeant Rex Colt: Mark IV cyber Commando. Earth has been ravaged by a nuclear war, which erupted in the 90s. Get the girl, kill the bad guys and save the world. Includes the full single-player campaign.

Never played the first batch of Far Cry's, only ever played 3. I heard they were pretty average though? Bought Blood Dragon through the Steam sales though.

I enjoyed Far Cry 2, Far Cry 3 was ok, I hate the 'good' characters in the game.

Blood Dragon was good fun, I enjoyed it thoroughly.

You mean Arkham: Origins right?

I've heard mixed things. Its from a different developer and it certainly didn't set the world on fire like the first 2 from Rocksteady.
I'm completely indifferent to it and its way off my radar. cbf playing it tbh.

Yeah, Arkham Origins. I loved Arkham City. It's pretty much the same game, with a less interesting storyline, so far at least. i haven't done much yet, so it may get better.
