Time for the dinasaurs to go back to the tar pits where they belong.Technology is here to stay.Embrace it like you have with everything else(including coin tosses),stop being hypocrites or move aside and let someone more in touch with the real world assume control.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Ford Defends Technology Stance?
ONE of the men who blocked the use of technology in football today insisted video replays would risk endangering the "brilliant" game - despite the furore over Frank Lampard's disallowed goal.

Have your say.

obviously people like this dont believe in fair play.

we need the game to become fairer and more up to date or we will lose many fans.

clamp down on diving and bring in goal line technology or extra refs.

Why are we wanting to change something so brilliant just on the back of one disallowed goal by England against Germany?

Yeah, cos it's never been discussed before then!

Quote:
Goal-line technology would not have spotted Thierry Henry's handball against the Republic of Ireland or Carlos Tevez being blatantly offside against Mexico and I'm not in favour of video replays.

Ignoring the fact that it would be possible to use technology for offside calls, what does it matter if a certain technology can't fix everything? If it reduces the number of mistakes, especially the blatantly obvious ones, then it is a good thing.

Not until the technology can become so cheap and easy to be used in third world country club matches. Otherwise there will be rules for the rich and others for the poor.

Our game has come now close to 150 years without technology other than electronic player numbers for substitutions. I like that our game has the highest of highs and the lowest of lows, and that those feelings belong to mankind. F#$% all this complaining and get on with winning by 2 goals rather than dwelling on the one that got away.

I've heard this reason on a number of occasions, but I can't see the logic in it to be honest.
It's far from universal in the sports that do use technology, with only the elite levels of competition using it.

Tennis - Club, district, state and satellite tournaments don't use it. ATP tour, majors and international cups do.
Cricket - Club, state, national domestic comps don't. Test matches, limited over internationals, Indian Premier league, T20 big bash ect. do.
R. League - only international and national comps do. The rest don't. RU is the same.

Even in Australian football (which i imagine is similar in most countries) we play without the benefits of the elite leagues. The lower down the ladder, the more likely it is to have a severe shortage of qualified officials, with the ref's whistle and linesman's flag very often given to whomever is willing to put their hand up. How often do we see a ref and only one linesman, if we're lucky, volunteering from players parents? Some regions have unlimited interchange, others have limited replacements.

But across the board all these sports play the same game as their bigger brothers, by the same basic rules. Technology doesn't change that.
