First season finished and reached a respectable 7th missing out on the playoffs by 1 point. Ultimately it was our inability to beat the teams we should of beaten that cost us a playoff spot.

Coventry were the run away league leaders and finished on 99 points - 11 clear of 2nd spot (Colchester).

My standout player this season was Lubomir Michalik with an avg rating of 7.63 from 43 games. Josh Thompson was my next highest with a rating of 7.55 from 37 games. Which I suppose goes to show that I am need of some quality midfielders and strikers.

My youth intake for this year was utter sh!te, with the lot of them lucky to get one star between them...

Just got my 'initial wage budget' and its much lower than it was last season... Grrr... Looks like next season is going to be harder than last season...

Just been told that the expectation is to either win promotion or win the league - with a wage budget that is lower than I have had in the BSP.... This will be interesting...

Start of Feb 2014 and currently first by 2 points, hopefully we can keep up some of this form and jag the league win or at very least an auto promotion spot...

So I can't load my latest save on fm - it comes up with an error saying 'save could not be loaded'.

This is why you backup your saves. Have you tried going both 'load last save' and 'load save game'?

I use a 10 file weekly rolling autosave, and a few times during the season I do a 'save as' and rename it (my save games are "teamname-month-year") so it keeps the last set of saves and starts a new one. Obviously you need to delete olds ones occasionally but that's not an issue.

I think FM 13 has an option to create a completely new save game every time you save though.

I usually create a back-up at each transfer window so if it crashes the most I'll lose is a couple of months.

So I just received this years youth intake and it is marginally better than last years - still not impressive though. Looks like I will be relying on free transfers for quite some time...

Currently in mid March 2014 and we (2nd - 79pts) are locked in a battle with Barnsley (1st - 80pts) and Derby (3rd - 75 pts) for the top two spots. Its going to be an interesting last 8 games for the season...

If you win promotion, ask that your board invest money on their youth recruitment network.

It takes an eternity and 10's millions of dollars both in proper upgrades to facilites AND youth recruitment AND junior coaching to start producing any kind of talent in the youth intake. It's an exceptionally expensive gamble.

I usually get one or two random tallented players that fit well into my team. Mind you, Liverpool's facilities are generally pretty good.

I've got limited downloads, so it's starting to shit me that event though I've got the 'auto-update' box unchecked in preferences it still goes right ahead and does it. Fuck steam shits me.

So it all came down to the last day, us (2nd), Barnsley (1st) and Derby (3rd) fighting it out for the top two positions. We were playing a lowly Crawley and true to form we struggled managing only a 1 all draw. This meant that the league win was out of reach and with Derby starting the day being 2 points behind us needed to win against a mid table Preston to get the second direct promotion spot.

Thankfully Preston managed a 3 nil win away from home forcing Derby to fight for promotion through the playoffs which ensures a 2nd place finish and a direct promotion spot for us. \:d/

The bulk of my starting XI midfield were loan players, my defenders should be able to compete well enough to avoid relegation and into a mid table position but I will definitely need a championship level striker and goalkeeper... Hopefully the board will allow a much larger wage budget and increased scouting network otherwise this could be a very difficult season.

Going to be a very busy offseason me thinks...
