So after a busy off season we have kicked off the in the Championship - first game was away to Bolton (who were recently relegated from the Premier League). We managed to pull off a surprise 2-1 win to start our Championship campaign.

As for the squad that I have built, my wage budget is $76K/week (AUD) and the expectation they gave me was that they hope I learn from the experience of playing in the Championship (so pretty much no expectations). However, the media has predicted that I could be one of the teams that may be pushing for promotion come the end of the season. I would be very surprised if we are anything but mid table at most, and to be honest - not sure if the squad would be ready to compete at the next level.

Hopefully this season we will start to see an improvement in the clubs finances too, we are still in the red but hopefully with increased attendances and improved cup runs, we may be able to make a dent into our debts.

Nice. I'm still in my first season, will finish mid tale at best. I've got a pretty deep squad with loans at the moment. Hoping to sell some of my more valuable players and use the money to sign younger players with potential. Mainly using the next season or two to build a solid team to survive the champo.

Also, increasing the clubs scouting range is top priority.

I'm having fixture congestion issues and it's only fucking October. Three games in six days, a 4 day break and then a 3 day break. So in 14 days I'm playing 5 games.

I managed to convince the board to expand the scouting range once I hit the Championship, it makes it a bit easier to find players :)

Because you've got a relatively big rep and a very restricted scouting range, it's easier to just offer your free transfer targets a trial.

Yeah I found that a lot of players wouldn't accept trials for some reason...

Were they under contract at a club or what?

Nah the were 'unattached' players... They rejected the trial but would sign a playing contract if I offered one...

I've never had an issue with that before tbh. Seems kinda odd.

Just got awarded a penalty and instead of my regular penalty taker stepping up, my player who has scored 2 goals already steps up - his penalty taking ability is 7... Oh yeah - he missed...

Managed to hang on for a 2-1 win though...

Yeah I have had it happen with a central defender in another save... Still frustrating considering the game was 2-1... If we were 4 nil then I could understand but not when its close...

Yeah. I hate it when it does that with the game in the balance too.

Started a Liverpool save, out of the Europa league at the first hurdle on away goals, despite, get this, 60 shots to 7 over both legs.

Lads, how do I know if my laptop can support the game? I've used 'Can You Run It' (Cheers Matt B) and it says all is good. But I'm just a little sceptical... Anyway else I can test it?

Can you run it isn't reliable at all. Only way you'll really know is installing and seeing how it goes.

Pretty sure minimum sys specs are listed on steam.

What specs is your laptop? It's not an intensive game at the most basic levels..

New Liverpool save since my computer crapped out on the last one. Slow start in the league, 1 win, 4 draws and a loss. Unbeaten in both the EL and Carling Cup. Playing Suarez on the left and Ademilson up front is working a treat now.

Hendo is my standout CM right now with Lucas and Allen, playing Gerrard and Sterling on the right, Stevie keeps getting injured. Swap Ademilson and Borini between games. Suarez cutting in is lethal, scored 3 or 4 pearlers from cutting in on the left.

Barely spent anything worthwhile on transfers in my first window, was planning on getting 3 players in Demba Ba, Wellington Nem and Dzagoev, all for less than 10M, only for all 3 to either sign new contracts or go somewhere else while i was trying to get rid of players. Had a 14m bid from Porto for Downing only for him to turn down the wage. Was pissed right off.

I had exactly the same issue with Downing. Ended up farming him out on loan a couple of times.

Sterling didn't end up developing.

Not quite sure what to do with Michalik - currently mid table in the Championship. Michalik is currently 31 and is contracted until 2017 (currently Feb 2015). He is 'valued' at 1.3 million (AUD). Should I try and sell him now and get some coin to pay a large chunk of the debt (as well as free up some cap space) or should I hang onto him for the next year or so and milk him for everything he is worth until he retires or is free transferred?

Selling him would mean I would need to sign a quality replacement but I should be able to pick up a quality future prospect on a free come season end...

Thoughts?

Wait until you have the opportunity to sign a quality replacement on a free transfer, then cash in on him.
