we def need to play young players in these friendlies and in the asian cup there is no doubt i would like to see oar. ruka. vidosic. r.wiliiams. mayb zullo and sarota

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article No Rest For The Roos?
THE Socceroos will have little time to lick their World Cup wounds with the FFA revealing a packed schedule of friendlies on the horizon ahead of the Asian Cup.

Have your say.

My guesses:

Europe - Sweden or Netherlands (again)
September - An African and European opponent?
Home - An Asian team, perhaps South Korea, China or Saudi
North Africa - Egypt
AC Lead-in - Again, an Asian team (as above), perhaps South Korea, China or Saudi

The way things are going at the world cup maybe we should arrange a few friend lies against South American teams.

Need to be careful when calling up young players from their clubs in Europe though, we don't want them to lose their first team places.

What a great year for football; World cup, New A-league team and Asian cup. We just need to sign a coach for our national team and we will be underway in an attempt for asian cup glory and a chance to play in the Confederations cup once more.

Why does it say at the start that the Socceroos have revealed a busy schedule but no dates have been released? Hmmm.

The core of the team should be the first team Socceroos with a sprinkling of the young players that are playing in Europe.

We have another 10 FIFA dates next year and the 6 Olympic dates also to continue developing the younger players during 2011 before World Cup qualifying commences in 2012 so there is no need to hurry with blooding all the young players for or in Qatar.

Why would we be announcing the make up of the Asian team in the coming weeks? Unless he means the gaffer - and in that case it can only come from current staff withstanding a new hire;

Vidmar
Versleijen

Thankfully the FFA can't announce Arnold as manager.

A good move by the FFA and I hope now that Pim Verbeek has gone, the new trend will be for the governing body to arrange lots of friendlies involving the Socceroos, especially A-League-based Socceroos squads, whether the new coach likes it or not. Under Pim Verbeek a Soccerros squad made up of local players was always under-prepared because it never played a single friendly game ahead of Asian Cup qualifiers.

There's talk of hosting Chile at home later this year, it better happen and it better happen in Melbourne so that we get a proper 'farewell game' to see off some of the boys.

I think we should use the Asian cup to develop the next team, like the Olympics is used to develop the youngsters (or is supposed to be, thanks GA). No passengers. if Tim, Harry and Mark (and Marco, Brett and Jason too IMHO) say they want to go to Brazil then they can go in the squad but I wouldn't start them because in all honesty they likely won't start in 2014 if we qualify. Time to take a page out of Germany's book and learn from our mistakes. Bring on the new. Our average age in January should be 23, so the average age in 2014 is 26 or so like the Germans in this tournament.
BTW FIFA thinks we are playing Slovenia: http://www.fifa.com/associations/association=aus/fixturesresults/gender=m/index.html#

It's not just about playing a heap of games it's how we play them. No more of this constant crappy double defensive midfielder crap all the time. If we have learnt anything from this WC it's to be more flexible and versatile in our approach with more emphasis in going forward.

+1. You only have to look at the confidence the US gained from the last Confederations Cup to show that it is a worthwhile tournament to be involved in.
