I just had a striker go from January 17th until October 7th without scoring a goal. Longest dry spell I've ever had from a player.

Been doing a Belgium save with Vaughn. I started and Cercle Brugge and he started at Zulte Waregem.

Finished 11th in first season and 8th last season. Slowly improving the squad strength and depth but I've had to work on a shoe string budget. Both seasons I've had my wage budget reduced from the previous year along with no transfer budget. So been scouring South America, Africa and other cheap countries to find people coming up on frees, coupled with selling some of my best players for a combined total of about 4 - 5mil to try and stay afloat.

I've fucked myself up though because I don't have enough home grown players anymore :lol:

Very happy with the squad for this season though and hopefully I can get into the top 6.

Will look at moving on in another year or two to a slightly bigger club.

If you buy the football manager CD key how exactly does it work? Do you pay for it, then they email you the keys? Do you download the actual game from somewhere or..?

Where are you buying it from? Somewhere like Greenmangaming will give you the CD Key and link to buy it off of Steam. Steam is god.

Has anyone run into this. I have a Melbourne Victory save and post season I gave Leijer a one year extension which put me over the cap. It now says I need to submit a new squad registration but it is not open and by the time next season comes around I have two players retiring so he will fit in the cap. I must respond but can't do anything.

Don't worry about the last post, I had just saved so went back and didn't offer him a new contract. Luckily Wilkinson went on a free at 31, was a better player and asked for about half the wages. Anyway as you can probably tell I am pretty new to FM. I have played a bit of the handheld version but there is a lot more in the main version which I am not too confident in.

Currently I am in pre season of the 2016/17 season, I have just managed Victory and my best result is 3rd in the table and runners up in the final which was last season so I am on pretty thin ice. My new squad looks very strong though and I still have a place for an international marquee. Looking at my weakest position I have Geria and Galloway as my right backs still, they both have 2 star ability and 3 star potential. Would you be finding replacements in this position immediately? With them still young and a higher potential youth right back I am thinking of leaving it.

Also I brought in a really high potential Chinese centre back who only speaks Chinese. Currently in my squad Milligan and Wilkinson speak Chinese (another advantage of Wilkinson) and he is in a good mood with a status of "Happy able to communicate with Milligan". I was wondering though as a CB would it be good to put him under tutelage of Wilkinson as a player in the same position and can speak Chinese or should I just leave it?

Tutoring depends on the personality types of the tutor/student. Each player has a listed personality (e.g. Professional, Determined etc.) which gives a vague indication of the level of some of their hidden attributes: Professionalism, Determination (not hidden), Pressure, Ambition, Loyalty, Sportsmanship, Temperament and Controversy. When an older player tutors a younger one, they "pass on" parts of their personality - the younger player's hidden stats will gravitate towards those of the tutor over the period the tutoring takes place. This is useful for player development because it's the only way to improve a player's hidden stats which are crucial for a player to reach his potential. Generally, players with higher Professionalism, Determination and Ambition will have a greater chance of reaching their potential, so an ideal tutor will have a personality type which indicates a high level in one or more of these.

This thread from the SI forums is a guide of what each personality type indicates. For instance, a player described as Driven will have Determination of 20 and Ambition between 10 - 20, and thus would make a decent tutor. Conversely, a player described as Slack will have low Professionalism and Ambition, and would be less likely to reach their potential:

Note that tutoring isn't always successful, at the end of the tutoring period you'll receive a message indicating how much the player thinks he benefited from the experience. It's okay if the response is poor, you can try again afterwards with a different tutor (until the player reaches the age where he can no longer be tutored). Also, hidden attributes aren't only useful for development, they also impact on how a player will respond in certain match situations, for instance a determined player will react better to going a goal behind than one with low determination, a player with a high pressure attribute will be likelier to play better in big games, a player with low temperament is more prone to bookings etc. Hidden attributes can't be seen without the use of a third party editor, so the personality type and media handling style of a player are the only legitimate means by which you can have an idea of their hidden stats. :)

First season at Schalke it's August 2013, on my active transfers list it says I've got two players due to join me on 1/07/14. Despite the joining dates being a year away one of them is already in my squad but the other isn't :-k

Won World Cup 2038 Egypt with Australia without cheating. We beat Germany 2-1 in the final. Feel like i have completed the game.

JLM does it work for Australians? it says when im about to buy it that it will only work in Europe.

I believe thats just the region they source the key from, I'm 95% sure that Europe steam keys are region free.

Best to ask though, they usually answer pretty quickly any time I've had an issue.

Thought I would give this one last bash before the new one comes out - decided to try and 'save' Portsmouth. I holidayed for a year so I could start at the 14/15 season. Cleared out some dead wood to free up some wage budget and had a few clubs come knocking for some of the younger players - ended up selling close to $5 million (AUD) in players in my first season to help with the debt. I also managed to put together a very decent squad - Karim Rossi (signed on a free) was quite decent, banging in 21 goals in the league and Simon Ferry providing 14 assists. I signed Alex Nimely in the Jan transfer window on a free and he finished the season with 5 goals and 11 assists from 11 games.

We were in the top 6 for most of the season then went on a rampage towards the end and caught up to first place (Oxford) - it came down to the last game of the season, we were level on points with Oxford but we had a superior GD. And who should our opponents be on the last match day? Oxford... They beat us earlier in the season 2-1, but we had the last laugh, winning with a solid 2-0 in front of 20k fans.

Now to consolidate and then push for the championship - and keep reducing that debt....

New features announced in October. Game released in November. Game is functional in February patch.
