Can't decide if this was a big fall for a really talented player or we just heard a lot about him cause he's Australian. I'm thinking the latter.

Nah, NFL.com rated him as a potential starter. He fell down the boards because of a hamstring injury (much like what happened with Lacy). Most people ranked him a late first/early second round talent and the Seahawks have picked themselves up a gem IMO.

I hope Ted Thompson knows what he's doing, trading back like that when we could have had some quality in the third round.

I read this morning he actaully had (minor) knee surgery recently, which is what may have scared a few teams off.

Yeah, that could have scared a few teams off. But why somewhere like Carolina (who need depth on their D-line) wouldn't make a move for him in the third or fourth round is lost on me.

I'm really perplexed by the packers not attempting to move up in the third for a WR with guys like Wheeton, Allen and T. Williams still on the board.

I went to an NFL Europe game once. Scottish Claymores vs Frankfurt Galaxy at Murrayfield. In the end it may as well have been the German Football League, I think the last season all 6 teams were German based.
He could always come and play here:

I've trained with a couple of Gridiron Vic teams - spend a fair bit of time with the Miners training with mates and learned OLB is my ideal position - Dunno if 'god' would pay his salary to come out here, as much as it has potential for awesomeness

Sidebar, How awesome would it be to campaign for the Packers (with their green and gold) to play a pre-season game out here? 73k watched Denver v San Diego in 1999, surely we're due another game out here?

I played O-Line for 3 years before I went OS and the team disbanded. Much prefer playing on offense.
I was at that game in '99, my first sporting event at the Olympic Stadium. At the time Denver were reigning champs and both teams had Aussie punters. Packers playing here would be one event I'd be pulling out all the stops to get the full package for. They've kinda given up in the 'American Bowl' overseas games since they started playing regular season games outside the US.

MLB's are generally fucking huge.

I hated playing O-line. Not knowing what was going on behind me did my head in. Playing OLB and trying to get around the TE or push him back into the QB and just being generally aggressive was brilliant fun.

They came out here only a couple of weeks after John Elway retired wasn't it?

Yep, it was a bit of a let down, IIRC some of the marketing was based around seeing him play, then he bailed.

It'd make sense if you'd taken a DE or two in the first few rounds of the draft...but when you've got a 5th rounder and seven DE's in a 4-3 set-up I think you're wasting time and money.

If you're going to invest in the D, bring in a linebacker to compliment Ayers and some corners who actually know how to cover. Getting into a shoot-out with Detroit last season didn't bode well for your secondary.

Took 2 CBs and a safety in the draft while adding Pollard and Wilson in FA. I think we've upgraded, but we still miss Finnegan.

Honestly, I don't think they miss Finnegan as badly as you think. His anger management and discipline was poor and the 15+ yards he cost you per game (not to meniton loss of downs) made up for any big plays he made.

I was kinda hoping he'd get picked up by the Falcons or Texans so I could have a red one.
The Old Rebok jersey wasn't bad. No idea why they've added those white panels. It makes it look like a training jersey.

The Niners have picked Adam Snyder back up from the Cardinals.

Has anyone else been watching the Geno Smith circus?

I hated watching us come up against him, but he was a joy to watch the way he orchestrated the pass rush.

It's going to he a gaping hole for the Bears next season regardless. Next season it's going to be Lions/Bears >> Daylight >>> Vikings and Packers.

nfl.com wrote:
Brett Favre on breakup with Packers: 'I was at fault'
A formal reunion between the Green Bay Packers and No. 4 is creeping closer and closer.

Brett Favre, speaking to Joe Buscaglia of WGR-AM in Buffalo on Thursday to promote Jim Kelly's "Hunter's Hope" charity auction, took part of the blame for how his end with the Packers transpired.

"It's over and done with. I was at fault," Favre said, per the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "I feel that both sides had a part in it. If you could go back, would I or them have done things differently? I'm sure both sides would. But you can't."

Favre has discussed burying the hatchet in the past, but he hasn't been as forthright in taking ownership of how he put the Packers in a tough spot after his initial retirement.

When asked about having his number retired by the Packers, Favre was optimistic it would happen soon and credited team president Mark Murphy for patching the discord.

"I'm honored just by the thought," Favre said. "Obviously there was, if you want to call it, 'bad blood' or whatever, I just think that people started picking sides. And really I'm over that and have been over it. Mark Murphy and I have talked on numerous occasions. I never expected them to do anything. I'm not one to sit here and say I think they need to do this and do that."

Current Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers put emphasis on a Favre-Packers reunion late last month, saying it was about time for the "healing process" to begin. The frigid relationship between Favre and Rodgers has been questioned in the past, but Favre reiterated that their appearance together at the 2013 NFL Honors wasn't an act.

"Aaron has said some very nice things," Favre said. "He and I have a good relationship. I had a chance to present an award with him at the Super Bowl, and that was for real. It wasn't for show. And so I think everything will be fine."

Favre said he had no idea when a reunion would happen.

"As time goes, it heals a lot of things," he said. "So the things that transpired that led to us 'breaking up' if you will, to me, are over and done with. When will (the jersey retirement) happen? I don't think either side is trying to push the issue. ... I think both sides are genuine. I know they are. And that's the way it has to come across because that's the way it should be. We don't want to go out there waving to the crowd with our backs to each other. And I don't think that's going to happen."

Of course, in true Favrian fashion, he did take some credit for setting an example for how not to handle the exit of a future Hall of Fame quarterback.

"I don't know for certain, but I think the situation with Peyton (Manning) and the (Indianapolis) Colts almost looked like our situation, but then maybe they thought twice about it and maybe they learned from our situation and they handled it correctly," Favre said.

I've been waiting years for this moment.

Of course not. The way he behaved was unforgivable. But that said, his name deserves to be in the Pack HoF as much as any other QB with his kind of career achievements.

It should be mandatory therapy for Packers fans to watch the sack Clay Matthews laid out on Favre when he was at the Vikes.

Rams CB Cortland Finnigan has backed the Detroit Lions to win the Super Bowl if his own St Louis Rams don't do it
