Few reports out that we're close to concluding a deal to sign Brazilian left back Andre Santos from Fenerbahce for €7 million. 22 caps for Brazil, can't be too bad.

Ye but how hard is it to be the best left back for Brazil though? Not known for producing particularly world-class defenders, Carlos and Cafu don't count as carlos was known more for his tremendous work rate and shooting, and cafu for his leadership and tenacity than for their actual completeness as defenders.

Yeah we've apparently confirmed to the BBC that all that's left is a medical and personal terms. Would be very happy with that signing.

Now for a CB and a CM and we'll be set.

Arsenal agreed a £6.2 million fee last night with Fenerbahce for the Brazil left-back Andre Santos - Telegraph.co.uk

I have to say, this Andre Santos transfer has given me some hope that maybe Wenger does still know a thing or two about buying players.

Ok so with Andre Santos flying into London today to complete his medical and personal terms and with Park Chu Young's transfer to be announce once the paperwork is signed off on by the Premier League that's 2 good signings that have really come out of nowhere in terms of media attention. A CB and a creative midfielder is what we'll be looking for in the next 2 days and I have a good feeling we will get them.

This Andre Santos transfer has actually got me very excited, an excellent player with plenty of experience. Another plus is that because of Fenerbahce's Champions League ban he won't be cup tied. His scoring record is also not to shabby for a defender, 10 goals in 52 appearances for a wing back is a record most midfielders would be envious of.

Also talk coming from inswide the club that we could be set to break our transfer record in the next 2 days, which I assume, if true, would be for a midfielder.

The Gary Cahill deal shouldn't be to hard to complete, as long as a deal is reached with Bolton we'll be able to wrap it up quickly with him already being at our HQ with the England squad.
