That's why Gibbs, even though he's 21, isn't counted as an U21 because he was born in 89. Source? 1st January seems like an odd date. That's not any watershed as far as the season is concerned. And he was 21 before the start of the current season. Otherwise that's just bending the rule for a whole 8 months. Psh. They're 21 at the start of the season - 1st January is a cop-out.

I wouldn't take that article as gospel just yet. He was back in light training last week, and haven't heard anything from anyone about him being out for 3 months, apart from this article.

50+ games for a teenager's first season was always dangerous. Hopefully this isn't a sign of things to come.

Thanks for the explination. Seems Arsenal are a bit short in that department. Whats the FA action on teams who don't meet the criteria? Dont think you understand the rules. Perhaps not. I'm seeing the list Sydcro posted where only like 4 are homegrown our of the 25. Am I missing something? I understand. Spurs fans are a bit slow... http://www.skysports.com/story/0,19528,11678_7145495,00.html Careful sweetheart, do you know what I do for a living :p

I think they always did. They just told the media and Arsenal they were only willing to spend a certain amount. The knew Arsenal would have to accept a bid at somestage during the window.
Rightly or wrongly, they played it perfectly.

You know what. I would be willing to sacrifice rhe Champions League for another chance at Barca, provided we qualify. I actually hope we're drawn with them. It would be the most fucking bittersweet victory ever.

Boo every single player with the ball, except when Cesc has it, then cheer. That would be sick.

Except you had Fabregas and Nasri then. Who, not coincidentally, were instrumental in your second.
AND you got beasted on the return leg.

Fabregas was certainly instrumental in the second game, fantastic back heel to Iniesta to then put through Messi for their first.
Would love Arteta to score against barca

Edited by Hinderz: 5/9/2011 07:12:13 PM I would love to see Arteta beast barca as I really liked him at Everton and always felt sorry he has never gotten an international chance.

Yes, we feed on the tears of cockneys getting shafted by Spaniards.
It's a tradition, or an old charter, or something.

Quote: Ebecilio maps out his path to the first team By Chris Harris Kyle Ebecilio wants to be the next Dutchman to break into Arsène Wenger's first team. Holland has been well represented at Arsenal in recent times with Dennis Bergkamp, Marc Overmars and new captain Robin van Persie all gracing Highbury, Emirates Stadium or even both. Now there's some new Dutch talent bubbling under in the guise of midfield duo Ebecilio and Oguzhan Ozyakup. The latter is 17 months older and was on the bench at Old Trafford last month, and Ebecilio wants to earn his chance sooner rather than later. "My first aim is to start every game in the Reserves and score five goals by Christmas," he told Arsenal.com. "Then I would like to join the first team and make my debut in the Carling Cup. "I signed my first [professional] contract in February and that was very important for me. The manager has said I have to keep working hard and that is what I will do." Ebecilio turned to his young compatriot when he first arrived in England last summer and now he is learning from one of the main men in Arsenal's midfield. "I used to live about five miles away from Ozzy [Ozyakup] and he used to help me in training," said Ebecilio. "I couldn't speak English for the first two months so he helped me with what the coaches were saying "Now I am modelling my game on Alex Song's. I like the way Song plays, he has power and strength. He is a strong midfield player, very smart and technically very good. I look up to him. "Sometimes I ask him about football, but also about settling in because he was young when he came here." http://www.arsenal.com/news/reserves-news/ebecilio-maps-out-path-to-the-first-team

thought it said 17 months old, was woundering if Wenger really had lost it.

I'm looking forward to seeing Ebecilio step up to the first team. Rooney and Cesc both won the same award he just did at their youth world cups and started starring in the PL as teens
