Liverpool came from the dead to beat them, United beat them 4-0 two seasons ago in the second leg in England, I think they have been on the wrong end of the biggest turn around in a Champions League knockout match (I think I heard that stat right). I know it won't happen but it's worth watching just in case.

Yeah in 2004 they beat Deportivo 4-1 in the first leg and lost the 2nd leg 4-0. I'm not expecting anything, but we've got nothing to lose and if we get 2 early goals Milan will be bricking it

None of you Arsenal fans are up early to watch this? HT and an amazing game so far. Can't wait for the next half (not even an Arsenal supporter).

Never been prouder of this team than I am right now. Any pride or respect lost in that first leg has been well and truly restored.
We could just have easily said "we're gone, no point" and just lay down and given up, but the performance in that first half was just insane. Unfortunately just ran out of steam.
A lot of credit has to go to Arsene as well, he could've easily just decided to focus on the league and write this off and play a 2nd string side, but he stuck to his guns and kept faith in this side and they almost repayed it.

I agree they ran out of steam and that is no fault of their part. However, I did think it showed late in the game how light they are up front. Bringing on Park and Chamakh against AC Milan....just not going to work.

One Ox came off we were always at a disadvantage and that gave Milan the midfield battle.

I mean in terms of strikers though. There are times you are going to have to replace a wide midfielder for a striker, winning or losing, chasing the game or closing the game out. If you were able to throw another goal threat at Milan, it would have given them something to deal with.

The problem wasn't replacing a wide midfielder, it was replacing Ox who was playing in the middle. That was the bigger difference, not who we brought on.

Hasn't been a bad week and a bit for us. In the last 10 or so days beaten Sp*rs, Liverpool and Milan. Not bad recently at home in the last few games. 3 games, 3 wins, 15 goals, 3 conceded.

just got home from the game, took me a while but well worth it, am a lil disapointed we didnt get the last goal seeing how well we started, rvp missed a guilt chance to get the fourth but also AC missed there own guilt chance to bury the tie 5/10 mins later, the best atmosphere i have ever experienced at a game let alone at ashburton, constant singing/chanting and also constant booing/whistling every time AC fans tried to get a chant going, was well good

Fuck, I thought this was on tonight not last night. Oh well I think I set it to record but not as good as if I didn't know the result. sydneycroatia58 wrote:Hasn't been a bad week and a bit for us. Could be the best form we've been in (results wise) for quite a number of years! Ox is such an exciting player, can't wait to watch and see what everyone is raving about from his first half attacking mid performance. With Ox able to play to this ability in attacking midfield and on either wing, Wilshere coming back next year and Podolski most likely coming in... who needs players like Eden Hazard or Mario Gotze? Would be a colossal waste of money. Next year we could be a real title threat again if we stay in the CL, keep RVP, bring in Podolski and maybe a value for money defensive signing or two (LB/DM/CB). I say fuck Eden Hazard, let spurs have him and if we reeeeally want to make another big money signing then possibly Yahn M'Villa or a leftback, but another big signing is not necessary (more long term injuries aside).

We knew we had something special with Ox before this, but this morning he took that to a whole new level this morning.

Even as a fan of Spurs I say fucking suck it to anyone who used to bad-mouth Rosicky, he's been immense for you lot now for some time.
A while back a few people I know were whinging and bitching about how he was a waste of money and now look at him. Such an under-rated player I feel.

I think Rosicky has flourished in the absence of Fabregas and Nasri. Has meant he's been able to play in his best position, instead of being stuck out wide like he was for the last few years whenever fit.
One thing's for sure, he's earnt that contract extension he was looking for, been immense this past month or so.

Majority of Arsenal fans havn't been criticizing Rosicky at all. Just sulking in the fact that his injury stopped him from being the player he used to be.
Definitely has seen the opportunity left for him with Cesc and Nasri leaving and used it as extra motivation to get back to his best in the position that he was meant to play.

Quote: Rosicky - We can hold our heads high Tomas Rosicky left Emirates Stadium wondering what might have been on Tuesday night but he insists Arsenal can hold their heads high after their aggregate defeat to Milan. The Czech midfielder produced another imperious midfield display and stroked home the second goal as Arsenal stormed into a 3-0 lead before half-time. Ultimately their heavy first-leg defeat at the San Siro cost the Gunners a place in the quarter-finals but Rosicky took heart from a rousing performance in front of a noisy Emirates crowd. "I am proud of my team-mates because what we produced today was great football, but it's sad because obviously we are out of the competition," Rosicky told Arsenal Player. "We can go out with our heads held high but we blew it in Milan. "We knew [that we would be making history if we came back] and that's what the boss told us in the pre-match speech. Who wouldn't want to be part of something special? So of course we were up for it and I think you could see that. So it's a shame. "The early goal was definitely a big boost for us, when you score so early it gives you a boost. Even if we hadn't scored so early we would have kept coming because you have to do that, you have to keep pounding the rock. An early goal makes you think it's possible so it was vital." Rosicky scored his second goal in nine days after out-foxing Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati with a clever finish. "To be honest I saw that the keeper was moving already to the middle of the goal," explained Rosicky. "I saw his legs moving away from the near post so I tried to place it there and it paid off. "We had a big opportunity to score the fourth one as well. But always you come back to the game in Milan." http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/rosicky-we-can-hold-our-heads-high Was good to hear that most of the players didn't seem to downbeat after the match, and rightly so. Not one player has any reason to hang their heads after that performance. After the debacles in Milan and at Sunderland what a last 10 days. Saw a good point before, while this may not obviously be the best group of players of Arsene's tenure, but this is the best team for a while. There's just something about them and the way they've responded whenever faced with challenges that in previous years would've killed us.

I'll wait until it's confirmed on the official site, but all signs point to a done deal.

It makes sense that they would go for this kind of early deal. Better than risk getting relegated and then losing him for 6 mill. Now they get 13 mill whether they get relegated or not. Steal of a transfer if true. Classic Arsene.

Quote: Van Persie is EA SPORTS Player of the Month Tomas Rosicky ran him close but the prolific Dutchman emerged victorious from our February poll with just over 40 per cent of the fans' votes. Robin continued his fine run of goalscoring in February, firing a hat-trick in the 7-1 win over Blackburn Rovers at Emirates Stadium. The striker also turned provider, overtaking Theo Walcott in the Premier League assist charts by the end of the month. Van Persie was among the goals once more in the North London derby win over Tottenham, hitting a brilliant equaliser on the stroke of half time to help Arsenal pull off a thrilling comeback. Rosicky came second with 31.7 per cent of the votes, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was third with 9.7 per cent. http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/42360/van-persie-is-ea-sports-player-of-the-month No real surprises there.
