Such a satisfying win, and much needed with the draw between Chelsea and Sp*rs earlier. Now means we have an 8pt buffer to Chelsea in 5th.

Can't really think of anyone who played badly at all. Theo definitely MOTM for me. The way he's come back has been nothing short of amazing, and no surprise it's coincided with Sagna's return to fitness. Thought Gervinho was good going forward on the left, but what was outstanding was his tracking back, boy did he work hard.

Rosicky, Song and Arteta were all excellent in the middle. Yet another assist for Song and what a fucking goal by Arteta.

Was nice to see Djourou come back from the early knock and have a really solid game after being called up at the last minute. Also great to see Gibbs get his first league goal.

Was also a good day for our loanees. Ryo got an assist for Bolton, Bendtner got his 3rd goal in 4 games for Sunderland and Aneke scored for Preston.

Agree, everyone had a great game. If you had to fault someone it would be RVP for being less influential than usual.

I know I've been harsh on Djourou here and was a little nervous with him starting, but 10 minutes in and I thought it was just Koscielny with a tan

Gibbs - We’ve learned to see out games

Kieran Gibbs has hailed Arsenal’s winning mentality after recording their seventh straight Premier League victory on Saturday.

The left back hit his first league strike in the 3-0 win over Aston Villa as Arsène Wenger’s side tightened their grip on third place.

Gibbs has played a significant part in Arsenal’s revival since his return from a lengthy lay-off and believes the team’s improved character has paid dividends.

“The most important thing has been the way we have been winning, making people aware what we are capable of,” he said. “Whereas in the past we might have lost some of those games due to lack of concentration, we seem to be sealing victories now.

“We just have this belief at the minute that we are not going to lose a game. We were down against Spurs and Newcastle but we don't give up now. We have a resilience now that we are not going to lose games. We need to keep that.

“We would have liked to have played like this all season but we suffered through injuries and a dip in form. That is football.”

Arsenal’s hopes of securing Champions League football have been significantly boosted in recent weeks and Gibbs is confident of an even better 2012/13 season.

“If we can keep this group together, everyone is hungry, we have a group of players who know each other well and they are gelling,” he said. “The new signings have done fantastically well.”
http://www.arsenal.com/news/news-archive/gibbs-we-ve-learned-to-see-out-games

The improvement in our defending since we got back a settled back 4 has just been outstanding. Especially the last few games. Against Newcastle, their goal aside, I thought we defended very well. Against Everton I thought our defending was outstanding, can't remember the last time we defended that well. And against Villa we didn't have much to deal with, but dealt with what we had to very well.

As great as all those comeback wins were, it's been great these past two games to get a lead and then keep a clean sheet.

Also so great to see Gibbs playing well after finally getting a consistent run in the side.

Would be interested to see what the EPL table would look like if you cut out the first portion of the season till Arsenal's form picked up. We would surely be pretty close to City and United?

Would look better if it was after the 7th game. We'd be equal with City and 3 behind United.

Three-match suspension for Wenger

Arsenal FC manager Arsène Wenger has been suspended from carrying out his function for three UEFA competition matches by the UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body.

Wenger has also been fined €40,000. He was facing a charge of improper conduct in relation to the UEFA Champions League round of 16 second leg against AC Milan in London on 6 March.

The suspension applies to the next three UEFA club competition matches for which Wenger will be eligible. An appeal may be lodged against the verdict within three days of the dispatch of the reasoned decision.

So glad I didn't post the match last night. Don't know what I would've said . In a better mood now and it is worth a little perspective. Yeah the performance was shit, the less said about it the better. Time to just write it off and move on, but if 8 weeks ago you'd offered me 7 wins in a row and then a loss against QPR I'd have bittin your hand off. We got a little bit spoiled in the last 2 months.

Not a fan attt all of Ramsey on the wing.

Lately whenever Rosicky has a poor game, Arsenal have a poor game. We looked the most threatening in the short spells in which he burst alive.
That playmaker role is very very important to us. Ramsey just isn't good enough to do anything but deputise for the position and Rosicky hasn't been consistent enough for long enough to instil confidence yet.
Hopefully Jack can bring a little more consistency to it when he returns if that's where Arsene intends to use him.

I just hope last night will be the end of this idea of using Ramsey on the wing. It's not as if we don't have options. Just put one of Gervinho, Ox or Yossi out there. I'd have all 3 ahead of Rambo.

And I do feel sorry for Aaron, I mean it's not his fault he's been played out of position. He's been good this season when played in the middle. That's where should be, nowhere else, plain and simple.

Ox---Rosicky---Walcott

That's how it should be at the moment. Quite annoyed the Ox hasn't started since Newcastle, to put Ramsey out on the wing ahead of him and Gervinho, Why? Just Why?

I'd say it has a lot to do with our last away game before yesterday. Our away form hasn't been the best, and Arsene yesterday went with the same lineup that beat Everton away. Think it was all do with keeping a winning away XI together.

Yeah, good point, but why start Ramsey on the wing in the first place against Everton? He's just not a winger.

I agree. I think it's because of the narrowness of the QPR pitch, but I would've thought Yossi would've been a much better option.

lol didn't notice. What I especially didn't get nostalgic about was our players slipping over so often
Hope they get relegated or fix their pitch so we don't have to play on that bumpy ice rink again.

Same. Never Seen him play a full live game, just clips and stats but from those and the hype (which Arsese seems to be on board with) he seems like a once in a generation kind of holding midfielder. I expected sOme of you guys to say no for coquelin and frimpongs dEvelopment sake.
It's a shame we have such a rediculous amount of midfielders who aren't quite consistently at the level we want right now or are too injury prone. I hope there's room, could see yann quickly becoming a favourite player of mine if it happened :D

Honestly, other players' development shouldn't matter when buying players, especially not at the detriment to the team. If they're good enough they will come through.

As for M'vila, we scouted him on the weekend against Lyon, and Arsene is very very interested for sure, has been for years. Put it this way, he's the defensive midfielder we want Song to be.

You say that like Song is a failure :P
I know he has his haters and seems to have good months and bad months but you so far as to argue that he's been our second most important player this season.
Seems like a great guy who loves the club too. Would feel bad for him if he lost his place to M'Villa, no reason they both couldn't play though. M'Villa, Song and Arteta rotating the two deep midfield spots is mouthwatering.

As for saying if they're good enough they will come through, I guess I'm more worried we could lose Coquelin to another club before he reaches his potential if he's stuck behind those three.

As a sidenote... M'Villa's average passes per game is actually double anyone else in his team this season! Not to mention his excellent ball winning and defending.
Definitely #1 on my most wanted list but unfortunately I think it's more likely that he goes to Madrid or City.

Oh, you took that comment the wrong way  I love Song to bits, he's been brilliant this season. What I meant was that M'vila is a more typical defensive midfielder, more so than Song. Would also allow Song to be able to attack more, without worrying so much about the defending side of it.

I agree, no reason why they couldn't play together, and I for one would love to see a midfield trio of M'vila, Song and Jack.

As for Coquelin,if we buy M'vila and Francis decides he wants to leave so be it. I mean they're only a year apart in age, so as dissapointing as it would be to see Coquelin leave it's not as if we're putting a 28 year old ahead of him.

Anyway any of that is still a long way off.
