Jens Lehmann has never been a man to mince his words, so it’s unsurprising that he has viewed Arsenal’s decision to sell Robin van Persie to Manchester United in uncompromising terms.
Having praised Lukas Podolski for his instant impact at the Emirates, Lehmann made clear that Arsene Wenger was absolutely right to cash-in on his former captain following his public betrayal.
“When you see a player wants to leave for money reasons and probably because he thinks that somewhere else it is easier to win, you have to let him go,” Lehmann told Laureus.com.
“Particularly when he has only one year on his contract and when he played the first season without an injury in eight or nine years.”
While we fans are always quick to stick the knife into departing players, their former teammates are often rather coquettish when it comes to doing the same. It’s nice therefore that a player who will live long in the memory for his exploits with the ‘Invincibles’ is willing to dismiss Van Persie’s twattishness with one swipe of his big Teutonic hand.
courtsey of arselog also did anyone know mad jens was at the club part time whilst doing his badges

Time to start thinking about the next couple of games...
This weekend I'd like to see this:
Mannone Jenk, Mert, Verm, Gibbs Arteta, Diaby, Cazorla Ox, Gervais, Poldi
followed midweek by:
Keeper Yennaris, Kos, Djourou, Santos Frimpong?, Ramsey, Eisfeld Theo, Giroud, Arshavin
It'd be great if Frimpong was fit enough for a run, the team news on Arsenal.com says he well ahead of Jack but we'll see what happens. I guess I have't included Coq anywhere... we can't really afford to have both Diaby and Coq injured at the moment until either Jack or Rosicky are back. Really interested to hear who others think will play league cup.
Good to put Giroud in the league cup game and hope he gets a hat-trick

Will be most interesting to see who starts up front out of Giroud and Gervinho. Every other position selects itself at the moment.

Ofcourse Gervinho will play, I more so meant who will play the striker role.

I love Lehmann. I respect players who tell the truth and speak their minds instead of the ones who talk shit to look good in the papers.

Mannone, Jenkinson, Koscielny, Mertesacker, Gibbs, Diaby, Arteta, Cazorla, Ramsey, Gervinho, Podolski.
Fully expect Rambo to be on the right to help Jenks out.

No Verm? No Ox? How's Rambo going to fit in? Perhaps I've missed some team news or something but there's some real oddities there.

Fair enough, I can imagine Rambo will stay a bit more central and there'll be a lot of rotation with Santi; having said that I'd prefer a proper winger to start off with. I'd have really liked to have seen Le Coq as well.

Like I said in the match day thread, will take an away point at City every single day of the week. First half was excellent, dropped off in the 2nd although that wasn't a surprise considering most of these players played midweek, same happened to City I thought. MOTM for me was Jenks, but could pick anyone of him Santi or Miki. Was quite easily Jenks' best performance for us. Incredible the way he's grown as a player in the last year.
Now for Coventry and then Chelsea.

I'll take the point . We outplayed them first half up until lescott scored that goal , I'm liking the fact we only conceded 3 goals so far . Bouldy's work looks like its paying off .Jenks once again is getting better and better . good to hear the big friendly German chant also we seem to be more united

Big fucking German, we've got a big fucking German! Mertesacker's best game for Arsenal imo, read the game like a book Tony Adams style. Who needs pace when the ball just finds its way to you? Jenko looking class again, I can't see why Sagna should take the spot back really. Like someone said before, Bould's working wonders. I'll take that point, we won't see many teams get that at City. Fucks sake Gervinho...

Sanga will get the spot back as he is no 1 rb but jenks won't give it up without a fight. I'm liking having these problems . Hell we have three world class CBS, and to fit three of them is great for us . Loving how we seem more united then ever before . Also Per don't need pace when he just sticks his big feet out:lol: .

Sagna will get the RB spot once he comes back no question, but the fact that we're even contemplating whether he should is testament to how great Jenks has been. I love Mertesacker, thought he was unfairly criticised last season, just like Koscielny was in his first as well. Great to see him proving a lot of people wrong. It's such a luxury to be able to bring in someone like Koscielny on the weekend with Vermaelen out and he has a blinder.

I'm liking the fact we can rotate our cb's and not worry on how far back we can go on our depth . Just hope the boss,tv and the bfg don't get injured at the same time . Or well have squillaci back

I have to say, it's all systems go at the back. Very positive stuff. I know Sagna has that extra experience and is usually our number 1 right back, but why should we replace Jenkinson who's been spotless of late. As has been said, it's a great problem to have. I still think we need an out and out goalscorer quick, Gervinho isn't a goalscorer and Giroud is having it tough of late. If we don't see Giroud score by November I think we should be worried.

On Jenkinson, he has all the makings to go down as an Arsenal legend imo. This is, as has been stated, on a different level.
