We've given up on Papa. They want 18m or something ridiculous for him and we won't go past 12

Especially when you've got Ignasi Miquel coming through. It would and I think that would be the reasoning behind the talk about Williams and why I don't think there's anything in this talk about Papadopoulos. Imo more just a case of the media throwing shit at a wall and seeing what sticks. I wouldn't think Papa would be willing to come in and be 2nd/3rd choice behind Koscielny and Mertesacker. Of course, that would all change if Vermaelen was sold, although I don't see that happening. Anyway I prefer to focus on players we have concrete interest in, like Higuain Higuain's Dad wrote:Nothing has been signed yet but I can assure you there are advanced talks between the clubs. We wouldn't arrange any personal contract before the clubs agree for the transfer. I'm aware Arsenal has made a strong offer, as well as Juventus.

I read a few weeks back that koscielny was being tracked by Barca - maybe this is in response to that? Also I think you're all underestimating the offer from Juve - they're also a very attractive club.

Not underestimating anything, just stating that we have actual real interest in Higuain. There's also reports that Madrid aren't willing to accept Juve's offer because they insist on it being paid in installments and so Juve are turning their attention to Jovetic or Tevez.
As for Koscielny, he's not going anywhere.

18m is an insane fee for a Bundesliga defender. Anything above 15m is taking the piss.

Hamburg are keen to bring Arsenal defender Johan Djourou back to the Bundesliga. wrote:
The Switzerland defender spent the second half of last term on loan with Hannover, who are also reportedly keen on keeping him for another season.
"We would loan him, but we would also buy him, depending on what Arsenal prefer," said Hamburg's director of sport Oliver Kreuzer.
Kreuzer believes his side have more to offer the 26-year-old and is confident a deal will be struck.
"Hannover played well in Europe last season, but Hamburg is Hamburg," he told the Bild newspaper.
"HSV is HSV, and we are just a better club."
Djourou appeared 13 times for the Reds between January and May this year and is contracted to the Gunners until 2015.

Reports that we are very interested in young Croatian CB Tin Jedvaj. I for one would be very very happy with this if it went through. Kid is going to be a star.

Juve have reportedly a fee with City for Carlos Tevez which leaves the road clear for Higuain.
More reports about us meeting Fellaini's release clause

Reports in France that we've had a bid for Grenier rejected and that Marseille are interested in Gervinho.

I am really hoping we get Grenier actually, even though it is a seemingly unimportant transfer.

First signing of the summer finally made official. Sanogo has impressed during the tournament, scoring in two of his country’s three matches, helping France qualify for the knockout phase. Arsène Wenger said: “Sanogo is a good young signing for us. He has shown that he has potential with his recent performances for Auxerre and also for the France Under-20 side. We are looking forward to Yaya joining us and continuing his promising development.” The deal is subject to the completion of formal registration processes, with Sanogo joining up with his new team-mates after his participation in the Under-20 World Cup. I am starting to get a horrible feeling that all these big names Arsenal are linked with will be snapped up elsewhere 8-[ Sanogo plus a couple of other kids (steal the Croatians from Spurs) could be our only joy.... again Bender- bid rejected. Torres- having a laugh surely?? Rooney- will go elsewhere for the wages Higuain- deal hijacked. Get the bloody signature ffs [-o< Fellaini- baulking at buyout (being tight arses again) Grenier- rejected bid Jovetic- all over before it started Cesar- definitely maybe Capoue- highly unlikely
