They're professional footballers, who want to win anything and everything. There's no pressure because nobody is giving us a chance  Yeah now. What will it be like come March if you're still on top? So we should hope to get knocked out of Europe because we may, in some kind of alternate universe still be top in March? It's such weird logic and getting knocked out of Europe I dare say would put even more pressure on the lads to win the league, it's not going to help. Less games = less need for squad rotation = less bendtner EDIT: and I'm not saying you should hope to get knocked out of the UCL. Just that if you do, it might not be the worst thing. Edited by A16Man: 4/11/2013 02:56:01 PM No need to see Bendtner when we sign someone new in January [-o< [-o< I understand what you're saying, I just think it would add pressure if we got knocked out of the Champions League early. Fair enough, I get what you're saying as well. :) Will be interesting to see how Arsenal spend in January Jedinak? lol Not sure why we'd buy a player in a position we don't really need to buy in. Unless of course Jedinak is a world class striker who hasn't been given a chance upfront yet.

I'm really not looking forward to playing you Gunners, even coming into some form I think we're in for a lesson. But in saying that united can always turn the tide and play out of their skins.
It has happened in the past. But ideally we would be playing you closer to christmas with a few more wins up our sleeves.

I know I probably should be worried about Dortmund on Thursday, but I'm just really really excited
Don't think we've ever had an opponent like this where there is nothing but respect between everyone from the managers down to the fans

Hard to believe but today is 30 years to the day since Mr Arsenal Tony Adams made his debut as a 17 year old against Sunderland in the old First Division. Don't think you will find many that will disagree he was Arsena's greatest ever captain. The only player in English football history to have captained a title winning side in 3 different decades. A ridiculous achievement. Finished his career with 4 First Division/Premier League titles, 3 FA Cups, 2 League Cups and a UEFA Cup Winners Cup. My first real memory of him, and probably my favourite. Made all the better by a lofted through ball from Steve Bould and the commentary from Martin Tyler

One can dream. Although a 35m release clause doesn't seem that much anymore

That sweetly struck volley from outside the box that szeszny tipped over... maybe??? I'd love to have an Australian at Arsenal (I believe Milligan trialled there a few years ago) - a fan favourite would turn half of the plastics in this country into Arsenal fans.

sydneycroatia58 wrote:And all we need is another German :P We know Arsene buys in bulk from certain nationalities... French - self explanatory Ivory Coast - Toure, Eboue (and nearly Yaya too) Spain - Cesc, Reyes, Ignasi, Cazorla Germany - clearly flavour of the month With the exception of Ivory Coast each side were - or close to - #1 ranked in the world when he had those preferences... Not had many Brazillians - then again Gilberto, Edu, Denilson - we also had Sylviano and Baptiste at one stage. Come to think of it we just released the best one of all in Andre Santos.

Germany isn't just flavour of the month, Arsene has had a massive hard on for them his whole career. The early years of his career were spent driving to watch any Bundesliga games he could on the weekend.

Just realised how much of an advantage finishing 1st in our Champions League group may be this season. Finish 1st and we could avoid, Barca, Real, Atletico, PSG and Bayern.

Interesting stat, after 10 games we have more pts than at the same stage of any of our 3 titles under Arsene.

His childhood team was borussia moenchengladbach as well.

I don't think there are any words to adequately describe just how massive a win that is. Fucking massive. Aaron Ramsey will get the plaudits but our defence deserves all kinds of praise. Tomas Rosicky as well, absolute fucking machine. Talk about a career renaissance. All that win has done has got me even more excited for Sunday, especially with our form away from home.
Wonder how long people will keep going on about our defence being suspect when it clearly isn't. The benching of Vermaelen in March in favour of a Koscielny/Per partnership could turn out to be one of the best decisions Arsene has ever made

That makes Arsenal the first English club to win at Dortmund Since United in 1964. Also makes Arsenal the first, not just English, club ever to win away at Milan, Real Madrid, Juventus, Bayern and Dortmund. Also, by far my favourite picture of the night. I think the argument whether Steve Bould has had any influence on the defence is now over Edited by sydneycroatia58: 7/11/2013 09:23:02 AM

That list clearly excludes Milan, Real and Bayern but your point is valid. Agree also about finishing top of the group. Still some way to go but a big win over Marseille will almost assure us of top spot assuming no draw between Nap-Dor. Our challenge has always been English teams in the CL knockout stages - never won a tie iirc (Chel 04, Liv 07 & MU 09).

If I am looking at this correctly as long as we better Dortmund's result against Napoli in our match against Marseille we are guaranteed qualification through the group.

Also spare a thought for Mesut Özil. As a Schalke junior I don't think anyone would have enjoyed a win against Dortmund as much as him.

It's a thread about the team that is currently top of the league, just beat one of Europe's better teams at home. I also fail to see any posts that are indicative of someone getting carried away.
