I honestly tried to see the funny side but you are going to have to do better than that. It was a good attempt but no.

Honestly though, whoever you want as captain you better not have feelings for because he will more than likely leave for a rival within the next two seasons.

Busby is just jealous that we get to choose our captain, rather than having our best player demand it in their exorbitant 300k per week contract.

He stayed without the captaincy so I don't know how much of a demand it ended up being.

Agreed but as it turned out, it was just a media rumour.

Evra stayed, we all thought he was leaving with Vidic and we didn't know RVP's mate was taking the job. He signed the deal with Moyes in charge and didn't take the captaincy. So yeh, it was just a beat up in the media. Just as the reported 300k a week which has since been proved to be a little bit of an exaggeration.

It's in the specific details of the actual contract. He can technically earn 300k but it's just a potential figure. His basic wage didn't actually change too much, Mark Ogden, the same journalist has confirmed it. I don't remember the details but it's got to do with his access to the United marketing department.

Not saying he doesn't have a ridiculous contract but it doesn't seem to be a straight 300k in his pocket each week. It's what he can technically earn.

But yeh, demanding the captaincy? If he demanded it and got his deal, I think he would be captain, which he is not.

This Sanchez thing is looking more and more like a goer. Most reports now suggest he would rebuff any Liverpool deal in favour of coming to us. Francois Pinet the French journalist who said last week we were getting Sanchez has said that terms between Sanchez and the club have been agreed, just need to find an agreement with Barca.

Even Christoph Metzelder was capped 47 times for Germany. No, I've always been a fan of Mertesacker. I stood by him in his early days at the club when Arsenal fans thought he was rubbish.

Just clarifying, no harm done. I don't think many of the sane Arsenal fans thought he was rubbish anyway, just that he wasn't suited to the suicidally high line Wenger had us playing in 11-12, but that's a discussion for a different day.

To be fair I talked to many Arsenal fans (sane ones too) who didn't, and to an extent still don't, like Mertesacker because of his pace/turning circle.
