True. And everyone said Andy Carroll was the next big thing, and look how that turned out. You can't judge him on what other players have done, just because they're similar style players.

I'd argue Hooper has a lot more upside and potential than Macca did anyway. Hooper's still only 23, and he's already proven himself at Championship level.

Very happy to read this:

Quote:
Latics have issued the following statement on the incident involving Tom Adeyemi which happened during Friday's FA Cup with Budweiser, third-round tie at Liverpool.

"The Chairman and Directors of Oldham Athletic Football Club would like to thank Liverpool Football Club and officers of the Merseyside Police for their concerns and painstaking efforts in investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident involving Tom Adeyemi.

"Excellent communication has been maintained and the Club and player have been notified of every detail during the progress of the investigation. The professional standards applied throughout have been praiseworthy.

"The Club would also like to thank the numerous fans from Liverpool and Oldham, and also those from around the country, who have sent letters of support to Tom.

"This type of incident is contained within a minority and should not deflect from a superb match that was enjoyed by both sets of Club officials and fans.

"We wish Liverpool every success in the next round of the Cup."

I'm disappointed that the whole incident has seen another round of Liverpool bashing from opposition fans.

I agree that may not be fair, but jesus how fucking stupid do you have to be to go, 'jeez, my club's just been through a massive load of news and controversy regarding Racial Taunts, I'm gonna Racially abuse that bloke.'

Not to mention the abuse Stan Collymore got on twitter from Liverpool fans, as well as the disgusting racial abuse towards Evra from Liverpool fans.

Oh I agree, it boggles the mind that he could be so stupid. But every club has idiot fans. Some more so than others.

And just when things looked to be going smoothly for the club we've now got issues with Downing, Suarez, Lucas out for the season...It's another kick in the bollocks and the amount of crap coming from it seems a little excessive. Especially the shit coming from Chelsea fans.

Sign another player who's had a good 6 months at Newcastle. What could possibly go wrong?

We wont sign Ba. I don't think

If Evra plays in the FA Cup against us, I think he'll get vociferously booed. Which will be more bad press.

Conspicuously, Vociferously, Ferociously, Aggressively and Vehemently. We'll cop more flak for it for being 'racist' (remember, it's only racism if you're black).

I expect him to play and get booed, that's normal but when you think about it, why should he, he came out and said what he said, standing up speaking up against racism, then defending Suarez. It is nothing against him really, they should boo the FA not Evra.

Hah, that's pretty indicative of how Liverpool have handled this if just a general, sweeping apology is acceptable.

Yeh, he will get booed, no doubt and I can understand why, I would be doing the same. Just when we look a little deeper, it isn't Evra Liverpool are upset with, it just seems that way because it is United-Liverpool.

Going to be a good one whatever happens.

For United - Liverpool, I have always gone by whoever is at home is favourites. You guys are a different team at Anfield and we are usually able to control the game at Old Trafford.

It is even but for a cup game at Anfield, I would have you guys at favourites.

Evra's included in anyone.

Evra's already demonstrated that he is above the FA and thus not 'anyone'.

He set the wheels in motion. It seems a completely reasonable expectation that he should be running from Anfield fearing for his life.

General sweeping apology for a general sweeping suspension.

Contract extension, AND an ambassadorial role when he retires? Fucking double winning.

He's an absolute legend. Most COMPLETE player of his generation. Tackling, passing, shooting, ball control, dribbling, motivation, composure, footballing intelligence... he has all of these in abundance. One of a kind.

Scholes > Gerrard. Find a player who disagrees.

I know you mean complete but Scholes didn't need to be complete.

Taking nothing away from Gerrard he has been and still is an unbelievable player and will go down as a great player but Scholes had it over him.

Gerrard and Zola are the two players over the years I would have liked to have signed from our rivals.
