Downing has been atrocious (disappointed that I was right about him).

Carroll has been a complete waste of time and money.

Henderson's only had the occasional demonstration of potential.

On the whole, Kenny's summer signings have been a complete and total failure. We need to be in the transfer market badly.

Disagree. Enrique has been one of the signings of the summer, as has Bellamy. Adam has been good for his fee and I think Henderson is going to be a fantastic player in years to come.

What use is a player who's going to be 'good in years to come'? We spent in excess of 50m over the summer. To have nothing to show for it except perhaps a League Cup (which you can kiss gooodbye if we play like we did last night again) is a joke!

While Enrique may be performing and Bellamy has hit a couple, Adam hasn't been good consistently enough regardless of his fee.

To spend 20m on a winger who has NO goals to his name and NO assists (despite signing him for exactly this purpose) is embarrassing.

To sign a striker who's cost us over 8.5m a goal to date and who gets pushed off the ball by a stiff breeze despite being 6'4" tall is a joke.

To sign a winger for 16m in the hope that he'll perform in years to come is just laughable. For 16m I expect a little something in there here and now. What the hell are we paying him for then? Maybe we should withhold his wages until he actually earns them.

Actually, do that with the whole squad.

He's right, and tbh Captain Jesus (also known as Lucas) is injured, Suarez has had problems, Gerrard hasn't been fit and there's a lot of inconsistent players

Hollow excuses. 50m should buy you some kind of squad depth. Not a shellacking at cellar dweller teams.

We miss Lucas so so much. Not only for his defensive cover, but he was also the instigator of so many attacking moves.

Henderson has been performing - when played in the middle! On the right he looks lost and he shouldn't be deployed there. In the middle over the last month or so he's looked terrific.

At least Chelsea drew and Spurs lost. And Newcastle lost.

I think it's more Damien Comolli's 'moneyball' approach that's falling apart, rather than anything KD's done.

Newcastle have had a great season thus far.

Chelsea is a stretch, they've got a 5 point buffer.

The owners wouldn't fly in just for a player purchase. No need for that. It's probably just a routine thing ahead of United on the weekend.

There was a frankly brutal article on Goal either today or yesterday summising our summer spending and how woeful a return we're getting from Downing, Henderson and Carroll and how we could have had Mata. And Coates' inability to get a regular run in the team after we had a bid accepted for Phil Jones as well.

I really didn't understand why everyone was saying out of all the teams in the prem you did the best in the transfer market in the summer. You bought some decent players (which haven't worked out anyway) but for hefty fees.

It was the standard english press getting excited over a club amalgamating homegrown talent. Obviously that's not working out.

Gooner yep your right and on paper before season start who could ever predict what has transpired to date ?! and not just the new non performings signings hitting their straps but Lucas whilst in the form of his time with us out for the season, the Suarez scenario, it sure has turned into a pressure cooker at the Kop but TBH when hasn't it been the last years just this more so than before.
If the lads can get back up as they did this morn though it sure does bring some satisfaction to us all.

For another 10m we could have had Pastore, Young and Mata.

:roll: I'm so sick of hearing that shit. Mata DID NOT want to come to a club that didn't have UCL. End of. Just because other clubs paid a certain fee for a player does not mean we could have signed them for the same amount.

And who is to say that Young wouldn't have flopped here? Or Pastore? Tbh Young has been shit after his first month or two of good form.
