BusbyBabe wrote:Yeh true, you had chances and at the end of the day goals win games but most chances came from horrible, split second errors. Credit to you guys for pouncing on them but I would say we were by far the better team. However, we can't complain.
Although, if Richards' was a penalty during the week in the same box, Agger's (I think) was pretty much the same, off the foot on to the hand. Not blaming the loss on it, but it was a pen if the one midweek was.
AGAIN NOT BLAMING IT ON THE LOSS :d Yeah, I was holding my breath on the handball. Something similar happened to Smalling too iirc. I'm surprised nobody is moaning about Maxi's tackle. Easily could have been red. Re: Manure. I wasn't aware that had any connection to lives being lost? Thought it was just playing on manure, like, dung. I would say ML is also unawares

Are you serious?
It started from Wolves fans back when it happened, in fact, I can't be bothered getting into it.
If you didn't know it is a reference to Munich, I apologise but yes it refers to the team who never came back and where they died.

Regardless of the Munich conotations I think most are not aware of, I seriously would have thought names like 'manure' passed their use by dates once you turn 12...

Nothing pisses me off more than fans of whatever club saying Liverpoo and Loserpool. Obviously taking the piss names but I don't think anyone outside of pre school could possibly find it funny.

BusbyBabe wrote:I thought I accepeted defeat? I said Liverpool deserved to go through because they won the match fair and square.
Everything is about the football but United-Liverpool goes beyond that time and time again and will continue to do so.
Would you call Liverpool one of the top teams in the league? I would say United, City, Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal are all ahead of Liverpool. You guys are still the biggest with us but that doesn't mean you are at the top, it is hard to accept but sometimes you have to face the truth.
Calling us "manure" is an insult to the people who lost their lives in 58 and I don't see any place for it. I agree you accepted defeat but you need to add on some chest beating of reasons for I suppose is to soften the blow losing to US, especially that we are not a top side anymore as you say so ;) Everything is about the football HERE in OZ, us followers (the many I know who couldn't be bothered being on forums) of any epl club/s certainly don't get into the unneccessary uncalled for BS levels Liverpool/United supporters get up to back over there so you need to back off a little as imno points out (< thanks mate) - and I accept your apoligy as I also certainly didn't mean it reffering to what it represents now that I know. Now as for us not being a top team in the league ? you bet I consider us UP there even without the silver ware - regardless of our short comings for a long time we have faired up there close enough to cause damage amongst far better managed and funded clubs (the ones you mention above us) than ours had been till very recently, as for Spurs they have only just become as force (we shall see how long this will continue, meaning how many years ?!) and yep they are ahead as has been Newcastle and I have no worries accepting this thats football but I won't take a backward step from niggling childish remarks as you say so yourself. FYI below I suppose finishing in the top 4 12 times out of 19 just doesn't say much in the modern world. "Big Four" dominance A major criticism of the Premier League has been the emergence of the so-called "Big Four" clubs.[72][73] With the exception of Blackburn Rovers in 1994–95, only three clubs have won the Premier League title – Manchester United (twelve titles), Arsenal and Chelsea (three times each). In addition, Manchester United have not finished outside the top three since the formation of the Premier League. From the 1996–97 season onwards, the "Top Four" (Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool and Manchester United) have dominated the top four spots, and thus places in the UEFA Champions League (qualification was one club for the first four seasons, increased to two clubs in 1997, three in 1999 and four since 2002). The benefits of qualification, especially increased revenue, are believed to have widened the gap between the "Top Four" clubs and the rest of the Premier League.[73] As of the end of the 2010–11 season, Manchester United have finished in the top four the most often, having finished in the top four in all 19 Premier League seasons. Arsenal are second with 16 top four finishes, followed by Liverpool with 12 and Chelsea with 11. Anyway lets agree to disagree over whatever may occur in the future for I'm not a keyboard warrior but a old football player/enthusiast that enjoys coming on the fibre highway with like minded people.

I accept the point about big four finishes etc but for me that's history. Look at Blackburn, they win the league then what, 3-4 years later? They get relegated. You should be judged on the present and not past league positions. It can change quickly and because Liverpool have been finishing in the top bit of the league doesnt mean they will continue to do so. As I said, even though I personally don't see Liverpool as a top club anymore, by top I mean a team that can have a realistic title challenge, I still see them as the biggest with us.
Good thing is we will always disagree, that's the way it's meant to be :d and we get to do this dance again in two weeks time, although at Old Trafford.

M.L, Busby is not making any 'childish digs' merely expressing the opinion of many United fans in regards to this rivalry. It is not a dig to suggest Liverpool are not a 'top club' at the moment, on tradition and history there aren't many bigger that's for sure but in recent years their football has declined from usual standards whereas City have sky rocketed and Spurs are continuing to grow in stature.
A fair portion of United fans (myself and Busby included) feel that this rivalry has slipped a bit in recent years with Liverpool no longer at the top challenging as it loses it's footballing spice, right when City starts to find some footballing spice. On history this rivalry will always be intense and heated however recently it has become less about football but more about history and individual incidents like the Suarez fiasco, I actually want to see Liverpool regain their status and form at the top so this rivalry can reach the heights we are accustomed too.

Times reporting Gerrard has done his hammy v United. I swear, the universe wont let Suarez and Gerrard play together! Whenever one is coming back, something happens to the other. Hopefully it's not too long of a layoff. Downing - Carroll - Bellamy Adam - Jay/Jonjo - Hendo Enrique - Dagger - Skrtel - GJ Pepe Expecting this v Wolves.

Absolutely stoked at last few results against city and utd, fantastic!!! Good to see big Andy may be turning a corner, fingers crossed!! Came accross a good article, its a great read, puts things in perspective regarding Evra issue etc.... My take on it is that he was always going to get booed, like suarez will at utd!! http://tomkinstimes.com/2012/01/united-we-stand-united-they-fall/3 points against wolves will top last few off nicely!!

I'm almost resigned to the fact that we wont beat Wolves. And then we'll probably beat Spurs and possibly United  Story of our season.

Quote:Every club makes shit signings, but it's unfair for you to say we have a list of high profile or expensive flops. You can't judge the likes of Downing, Hendo, Carroll yet, as it is far too soon - looking back over the years I can't think of many high profile or expensive flops. Aqua pops into the mind, as does Keane. But that's kinda it. Aquilani, Keane, Morientes, Cisse, Babel, Diouf, Dossena, Gonzalez, Pennant... The list of flops is long and illustrious. That said, knocking United and City out of the cups in the space of a week is fucking priceless.

Agree also on the list of prior flops - sooner or later something/someone is going to click ! and more luck goes our way re injuries ala Lucas and getting Louis back on the park. I feel the same re Wolves just our luck we put in an average performance but hey its an away game theres hope :) and yes what a month coming up ! Edited by M.L.: 30/1/2012 03:43:17 PM

February is a huge month. Thank Odin we've got Suarez back.
Are there any more details on Lucas' recovery progress.

At least Suarez will be like a new signing ;)
I was hoping we'd get another player or two for the attacking third, but hopefully Suarez can bring his shooting boots back with him, Kuyt has broken his duck and Bellers in his hot form. Get Carroll firing and we've got more than enough.

Carroll won't fire. His confidence is gone, he is hardly even putting up a fight for the ball these days. Lad needs to tank and man up.

Reina is never going to be displaced in the future, Brad Jones and Doni are back-ups and sure we have a youth keeper or two with names that escape me. Belford, Mersin and Hansen are the U18's, academy and reserves keepers respectively. I have no idea why we signed Danny Ward, he hasn't even played a game for Wrexford seniors. We've been watching Nordveldt and a couple of other swedish youth players for a while now, all I can think is that he's been brought in as a cheap replacement for Gulacsi in case Hull decide they want to keep him.
