It should come as no surprise, but Brendan Rodgers has been charged by the FA for his comments about Lee Mason after the City game.

Johnson needs to go. Absolute and utter garbage the last 3-4 months. Usually one of his biggest fans but he's gotta go.

This x100. Ws one of our best players last season but just seems lazy and has had the touch of a rapist. Surprised BR hasn't benched him since he's always been willing to put a young player out there.

Hopefully we get a replacement this transfer window

If Martin Kelly could stay fit he'd be in there at RB. I think it's a bit harsh to say Johnson "needs to go". He's had runs like this in the past and bounced back better than ever. Just needs to get back to basics at training.

Aspas can get on the next plane back to Spain though. Had high hopes for him and he's done absolutely nothing.

Surely Ilori could slot into the wingback role, he was touted as one of the fastest players at Lisbon while he was there. Havn't seen him play though but we did pay a pretty penny for him and couldn't be worse that Johnson.

If he can turn it around, great, but hes on the bad side of 20, his contract expires at the end of this season and would likely be one of the highest paid players on the team. Dont see him getting an extention.

I wonder if we can recall Wisdom, got nominated for championship player of the month recently and I think he always looks pretty decent when he has played for the first team

Ilori might be quick but that doesn't mean that he can dribble or play the overlap like we'd like.

I also have my doubts about Johnson but you also have to remember he's a HG player.

I didn't see the game unfortunately, saw some highlights but that's it. Sounds like Raheem did well.

Listening to 5live today (they release it as a podcast) and while I think that most of the time they are fucken idiots (Tim Sherwood fapfest gets on my nerves) they started describing what United needed in midfield after the Sunderland game and one is the Sneijder type but the other they start describing Henderson pretty much (leader, box-to-box). I just found it funny because of how much crap we have got for his price and he personally has gotten and I am really happy for him. Wish he could increase his IQ though.

On another note I hope we move for Rakitic. I think he is a great player from what I have seen (for some reason I have watched quite a few Croatia games). Great delivery, shooting and passing and I think he could contribute a lot to our central midfield. Also has that thing like Pirlo where he doesn't need to tackle a bunch but can play a deep as he can read the play so well and get interceptions and block passes.

We seemed to linked to a bunch of inverted right wingers (Salah, Yarmolenko, Ince, Dzsudzsak). It seems to Salah link is real and the others might just be going off that but does out formation really promote inverted wingers? When we play 3 at the back I can't see it working. We also have Suso playing well in Spain playing on the right. Or could Rodgers be looking for a good left footed winger and it just so happens they all play on the right?

Wouldn't mind getting Ince as he would be relatively cheap (we get 50% of his sale) and sending him to Ajax for 18 months.

Talk on Salah has quietened down. I don't think we'll sign anyone in the next week. If we do any business it will be late.

It's no secret that we've needed that player ever since Keane left, Fletch was great in this role for us a few years a go but I doubt he can get back to his best, whilst Hendo has improved out of sight I'm still glad we never made an offer for him tbh, Strootman was our man imo but Moyes didn't appear to be interested until Roma had already signed him.

That transfer window came down to Jones and Henderson for both clubs. Both wanted Jones, we were lucky to get him and that left Liverpool with Henderson. Have to say probably worked out for both clubs but am very happy with Jones. Don't see how Henderson would take us to the level we want to be at. Sure in form at the moment, he would improve us but not what we need long term.

What do you mean "not what you need long term"? United have needed a player like Hendo for the last 2-3 years and he'll probably be in the team for another 6-7. If that's not "long term" I don't know what is.

5 goals is brilliant, but shipping 3 because of some sloppy and/or lazy defending is a little worrying. Especially against Stoke who have struggled consistently in front of goal this season.

Long term in terms of quality. Ok at the moment, the top 4 is our goal but a club like United want to challenge for the European Cup, you can't rely on Henderson to drive a team towards European glory. I'm not saying that's what Liverpool are doing but we need a world class player in there over time.

Wow. Didn't expect to wake up to that

Had a look at the highlights, some nice stuff there. Sterling and Suarez were apparently very good and obviously great to see Sturridge back.

3 points is what counts and I think Stoke had only conceded 6 or something all season at the Britannia so, solid effort.

I read this earlier which is nice too:
LFC have to visit only two of the current top 10 between now and the end of the season - Man U and Southampton.

Hoping we can keep the form up and win 11 or 12 pts from our next 5 which I think is achievable. Villa, Everton, WBA, Arsenal, Fulham.

Basing it on my opinion that he isn't world class. He has performed extremely well this season, also in big games but still don't think he is world class.

This morning was a tough, entertaining game so I was pleasantly surprised. I was expecting a tepid 1-all draw. It's true there were some bad defensive decisions leading to 2 of Stoke's goals, but I'm glad Liverpool managed to go on and peg back the goals they needed to get all three points, as opposed to years past where I think they would have patted themselves on the back and said "Stoke away is tough for everybody- at least we got a point out of it/ losing isn't THAT much of a big deal." Welcome back Sturridge- what a goal!

There are only two intellectually honest debate tactics: (a) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s facts, or (b) pointing out errors or omissions in your opponent’s logic. All other debate tactics are intellectually dishonest - John T. Reed

Your assertion is in essence that he doesn't have the capacity to be a sustained element of any team's midfield and will never be world class. You can't possibly know that. Especially with the prolonged high level performances he's put in this season.

I never said any team, I said United. I never said he won't turn into a world class player, he may well do so, I highly doubt it but could be proven wrong. My point was that United need a world class midfielder, a top player that could make us compete in Europe. In my opinion Henderson is not that player. I am gald that the club won the battle in the transfer window but as I said, I think it worked out for both clubs.

That's a valid point, I made note of at the beginning but our aim in general is to be competing at the top in Europe. Obviously our short term goals have changed big time in the last 6 months but compared to Liverpool at the moment who have been without European football for a couple of seasons, surely the goal is to dominate England first. That might sound like a dig but I don't mean it to be.

My point was that United need a world class midfielder, a top player that could make us compete in Europe.

You won't need one if you don't qualify for Europe.

Hey, if Liverpool can win Europe with Smicer and Hammann in midfield they can do it with Hendo and Lucas

Substitute another player's name into that and realise how absolutely ridiculous that statement sounds.

"Aguero has performed extremely well this season, also in big games but still don't think he is world class".

That's one of the most ridiculous arguments I've seen in a long time, even for you.

Very true after the many years struggling against teams like stoke.
Having just watched the reply what a game ! commentators saying the same right through it.
The aerial advantage stoke had was obvious and even though afro mentioned no good leaking 3 scoring 5 was epic and better ;) .
The whole 2nd half we were under the pump we actually held them out well considering corners against like 1 to 7. 2 lucky posts keeping balls out and my SG's last corner glance defending I'm amazed by Mignolet's reflex save, was mad !
Typical agressive game with stoke we really stood up.
Thought Toure/Skrtel gave all they could under the trying conditions.
OK Raheem's pen was a little soft by my how well did SG take it.
Suarez's goal Sturridge assist from the left angle absolute cream.
Henderson again was sound.
Cissokho was suss at times and Johnson well answered his critics a little incl me this game but our defense has to tighten up more if we are going to challenge for 4th vsing the strong squads above and around us..
Mignolet has been a great pick up to date.
The SAS is back.

Love Football
