Horrible performance, just poor all over.

Coutinho's send off was harsh, not much he could do with Payet spinning in to him like that. Must said something pretty bad to get a yellow too.

Not sure where the team that played Arsenal went but hopefully they turn up in 2 weeks.

I thought Coutinho's 2nd yellow was harsh, but then I saw Noble's red card

Noble was on a yellow though. Was it a second yellow offence? It obviously was way harsh to be a straight red....

The one positive I can take away from that game is it should mean we don't see Lovren on the pitch for quite some time. Sakho, straight back in for sure. Our performance at left back was also a concern. Gomez lacking a left foot is very easy to read that he will cut back inside. And then Moreno came on and could've done better for the third goal....
In attack we were about as average as against Bournemouth, but this time the result was amplified by 3 defensive errors and an overall erratic defensive display.

it's strange how poor everyone but city have been so far... Goals are looking extremely hard to come by for all of last season's top 6.

And there have been 3 times as many away wins as home ones... It's all a bit odd...

Wasn't even worth a yellow or a FK  was actually a good tackle, purposely grounded his studs and won the ball.

Well, I feel half ok after last nights result as well, only 2 clubs in the top half of the table went up (Toffees and Saints) all the rest went down !
Sure is a crazy start to the season barring citeh.
We equal 7th are 5 points adrift.

I agree having had hope of Lovren picking up his game I expect dropped and Sakho brought in.
Maybe give Ilori a start up.
Losing the Cout is a crying shame - soft decision but thats how it goes, Firmino has to step up I expect.
Well, our next opponent didn't come off any better last night, going to be a big one at OT.
Really curious what our line up will be next.

Save ilori for the cups. We have a French first choice centre back in our side who starts ahead of koscielny, zouma, and mangala to name but a few. Let's give him the fair chance and run of games he deserves to build a bit of consistency for us....

The United game will be fascinating although based on both teams so far it sure won't be an exquisite game of football.... It's a shame we've got an international break between now and then... Glad I just signed up for BeIN sports so should have matches to watch over the weekend but it doesn't change the sh1tness of the break.

Agree on Sakho, I just wished for Lovren to get his mojo as whilst with the Saints so as we finally have a sound pairing but it just may not turn out ?
Who knows but in saying that replace with Sakho - our best option.

As for the next game at OT, I differ, both clubs and players know what this game means regardless where on the table/form.
This game will be dynomite - one of the fixtures of the season, may not be top shelf football at present but edge of the seat viewing for sure.

Lovren was atrocious. He's been alright first few games so was hoping he'd stay that way but back to his old ways again.

https://twitter.com/Footy_Jokes/status/638297775814393856 This is fucking hilarious

Not sure how we should line up v Utd. I think we need Lucas but that means Can misses out which is a shame.

Benteke Firmino and the last attacking spot up for grabs. Ibe and Lallana have both been underwhelming.

At the back bring in Sakho

Lovren was horrible but the whole team was below par.

Hopefully Hendo is fit for united. Wouldn't mind if we went with a diamond with Ings and Benteke up front.

In other news, Borini off to Sunderland - why he didn't just go last year is beyond me.

imno - showing that Lovren classy moments is not good :) after being reminded of the blunders bench sitter for sure.
Agree, hoping Hendo is back.
Maybe Lallana having not started is primed to turn up next game.
Saw the Borini news this morn, 4yr deal $8m transfer, thought the same but he tried his butt off to stay, obviously had to give in.

I read £10m for borini which is exceptional business if true seeing as we bought for £11m and he scored 3 in 38...

The diamond would be a risk against United's midfield. We could be overrun.

True. But good that we let him go. The squad wad pretty large before.... Lot of wages still on the books.
Also we've loaned Tiago Ilori to villa with the option of buying at the end. I suppose 5 CBs is enough for the season of they count Gomez there.

Watching other clubs today made me further satisfied with our transfer activity. We identified our targets then we went out and got them, well ahead of time. if it doesn't work out it won't be die to bumbling in the boardroom but fire to bad management or poor selection of targets...

yer the Borini deal was 8 + incentives that would return around 10 or so. Could have been worse so we'll take it.
I just read of Ilori loan to Villa - those CB options are not very sound Harrison though.
On the outside I'm starting to look forward seeing Flanno get some game time - I suppose the Cups etc.
Yer, the transfer scenarios at some clubs have been "weird"........

I'm pretty comfortable with our defence tbh. Skrtel and Sakho is a solid partnership. Gomez, Lovren and Toure are reasonable backups. I'd probably have kept ilori over Toure but it's tough on a young player to be on the sidelines when he should be developing....
Gomez looks like a potential long term replacement for Skrtel and is 4 years younger than ilori so is a good option to keep around, particularly given he has been serviceable at LB.

I'll be thrilled to see flanagan back but he's been out a long time. I won't hold my breath that he'll still have that hunger and youthful enthusiasm after the injury and all that time on the sidelines....

Flanno's only problem is lacking match fitness, at his age he'll be chomping at the bit to get back on the park playing regular football, especially for our shirt.
Re the CB's, Sakho maybe quite sound in his NT role but under the pump he does get turned around in the epl, no where as bad as Lovren thats for sure but he's gone against a mobile attack - our best Skrtl option, as much as I like Toure he's past it.

Sounds good to me! Can't wait for the game. Was seriously pissed with the west ham match because it was the first one I watched live.

Hopefully this game goes a different way for us, with the only similarity being a resounding win for the away side! (Seriously unusual trend running on this by the way)

That being said I'm not expecting a lot of goals being scored. 0-0 a possibility. And maybe one with fewer chances than the arsenal game.... The dream scenario is one where the btw signings play a big role and we win whilst playing a good game.

Any thoughts on Klopp publicly saying that he would prefer an exciting new project at a club not in the top 4 that would be a challenge to his coaching career? Liverpool perfectly fit that bill.

How about rebuilding one of the most historic football clubs into a relevant force in Europe again? That's a pretty great challenge right there but would Klopp be up for it?

Well at least I'm glad we don't have to wait till Mon/Tues - I dislike those later scheduled games due to other results already putting more pressure on.
I'm very curious on the starting line up.

Klopp, an great candidate imo.
Having just checked briefly
Klopp coaching BD from 08 to present win % is at 56.29% - overall 48.98%.
BR, us '12 to present 51.57% - overall 45.16%.
Arsene for eg with the gooners - 57.52% overall 54.21%

States, mean one thing, people management is another and the mighty cheque book how its used.
So many variables as we all know.
Come end of season 4yrs with BR - finished 7th, 2nd, 6th, ?
I suppose our judgement will come by end of Jan.
