Good luck mate, I'll be reading on from work, if your not comfortable with the icons just leave it for now, don't overcomplicate things, and just do whatever your most comfortable with when updating the minutes next to the text, aiming for 5 minute intervals.

I think the icons worked well, but would it be better to add the icon in the same sequence as the text?

Rather than the goal icon, then the write up above it.

Just a suggestion, but keen to see what everyone thinks about it.

Longer term, team logo's could be fantastic, an area to write the scorers.

There seem to be less Twitter feeds this round, were they disabled? Or just not much action during the matches?

I think adding the little goal/sub/red/yellow/injury icons to the list of smileys would actually be the best bet - they'd be easy to integrate then.

Team logos on the scoreboard would indeed be fantastic. Also, if possible, if there's an option to put a the scorers for each team under the individual team - I ran out of room in the five-nil win on the weekend in the space provided :D

Funky, can you add a 'News Flash' on the console and trial adding goalscorers to the coverage to see how it presents? I'm not sure how the news flash works, but I'm assuming it just rotates through with the score and polls?

I have been adding the scorers after the "First Half" bit in the scoreboard.

i like the idea of putting the images as emoticons. would be the best way to use them and be really easy tooo. would keep thing nice and tidy as well.

Late night boredom has got the better of me and I'm just having a fiddle around on a practice console.

I see the problem with the icons, as a few have mentioned, in the smilies would be fantastic but I'm not sure if that can be done. I added a News Flash for the goalscorers and the minute it was scored, and it flashes up in the score-board and polls area just in rotation with the score & polls. Space isn't an issue, so I think this could be our best bet for it.

News flash is actually a very handy tool, and we can add plenty of other information throughout the match, such as the crowd to please the 4000 comments we recieve each match asking what it is. Can also put in there referee's, team line ups, yellow cards, maybe even substitutions, but I guess the key is finding the balance because we don't want 5 or more slides rotating and people hoping to see a quick score are forced to wait.

Should we make it a general rule not to incorpoate polls during the guts of the game?

So we would have:
General tips/Key players etc - In the lead up to the match, and perhaps for the first 5 minutes of the game.
Half time poll - First half talking points, potential substitutions, etc - Begin on half-time, leave running to around 50 minutes.
MOTM poll - Start maybe final 5 minutes of the match, and leave on til conclusion of coverage.

The plan would be to have no polls running from 5 mins-45 mins, and then 50 mins-85 mins.

As I said, newsflash is a very handy option and we should utilise it, but to what capacity, it's open for discussion.

I agree, with my matches i do 2 polls before the game and cease them when the matches start, then a HT one. Also news flash is a great tool, i may play this arvo so we could get a good template to update all the info.

Just played with the news flash area on the console. A very good info filler and we should be using it. Here is a screen shot of a layout i quickly put together:



And just on the subject of icons, is there another way to insert them without going through the media uploader. I tried to change the caption and it would be quite annoying to continuously change the caption after every yellow card etc, but there is no other way to put text with it.
