Here is some information regarding the number of readers today:

Sydney vs Perth

No main banner on the home page wasn't put it til the 70th minute.
Before that, the first half averaged a whopping 11 readers, peaking at 16 just before half time.
It then peaked to 19 readers before the banner came up, it quickly spiked to 34 readers in the 85th minute, that was the highest number throughout the match.

Central Coast vs Gold Coast

There were 28 readers at kick-off.
Steadily rose and peaked at 40 readers in the 25h minute.
Dropped to 37 by half-time, averaging 35 for the first half.
Dropped to 32 just after the half and was hovering between 32-37 for the majority of the half.
Spiked to 41 readers shortly before full time.
The post-game comments still attracting 23-31 readers.
17 readers were still present when scouse shut down the console.


This information might seem like bullshit, but if we keep an eye on it for most matches, we will see what is our target audience in regards to teams, timeslots, locations etc. could make it a bit of fun and set up a leaderboard of who can get the most readers!

I was following it during Avy's match as well. Can't recall exactly, but it got passed 30 about 15 min in, and never dropped below 30 till FT. Peaked at about 40 just before HT.

Will be intresting to see if LA Galaxy attract more readers next Saturday night

Last night my game was on 34 at one point, which was the only time I checked. Pretty sure

i had 40 for the whole game during adelaide vs brissy. hopefully the crowds will pick up and build.

I promote your AUFC matches via twitter, you should be doing the same; also Facebook is another medium you should be using.

A group would be good, although ultimately it would just be inviting people who already know of its existence. We have to set a few statuses when games are about to come on etc, to raise the amount of people who are aware. Might be a good idea for you to put it in the mag as well KA?

What you want to do via Facebook is post to the team sites with the link back. It would be brilliant if you could do it via official channels but that probably would mean some form of compensation since this is a commercial site.

What we have to do is promote the hell of it and put the website link to it on twitter/facebook. Anything football related on these social network sites the link should be posted. Maybe KA could make us a logo to put on the facebook page?

is there no way to have the banner up on like a timer or permanent section where people can click any time matches are in progress.

so like one of the tabs at the top can be matchday live and everytime someone clicks there it takes them to the game. if its in standby, they will see the message, if not, it will be on.

was thinking this and too be fair it would look great up the top. Something like Matchday or LIVE would be great. Will also get rid of this business of putting the banner up for every game. Would make life easier for everyone and encourage more readers to view our content

Agree with everything said so far, pretty much KA needs to set us boundaries regarding advertising, but we have to get it going everywhere. 442 facebook is the first, most simplistic option. But, for now, its critical we have the banner up for every match as we saw with the numbers on the weekend.

I am confident of making this thing massive but we definitely need some sort of advertising. Right now we are only attracting 30-40 per game but we could be track 100+ with awareness it is on.

yeah, we need some form of advertising. we have to do it within guidlines of course and KA would have the final say on any decisions.

Ok, Any problems, let me know. Need someone to do this Friday's match.

As for the advertising, I'll get in touch with KA and see what we can do, but for now, I want to focus on make sure everything is uniform and everyone knows what to do, etc.

Trust me, a splash banner is the very best placement you can have on the site in terms of advertising the commentary and attracting readers. Nothing else brings in readers like a frontpage banner.

In terms of something permanent on the home page, there is something in the pipeline potentially but we're not there yet.

Feel free to link to it on Facebook and Twitter to your heart's content. If I'm around, I will try to remember to give it a punt on our Twitter account.

I'll also stick something on our Facebook page tomorrow night, but we've only just started that and it's got quite a small audience so far (hint hint - like us, get your mates to like us, get your mates' mates to like us!)

Seeing as im only doing updates for the Galaxy game, and theres a 30 min gap till the Heart v Sydney game, Shall I do full commentary for the first 30 mins?

I will be starting to promote it on my Twitter account. I haven't got a massive amount of followers just yet, but I guess every little bit counts....

I have a feeling their KO is at the same time, and the Galaxy just has an extended pre-match bullshit. Double check on your foxtel. But if it does start earlier, I don't see the harm in doing commentary from it and then 'crossing' to AAMI park:p

I think the LA Galaxy/Newcastle match starts at 7.30 while the Heart/Sydney starts at 8.15pm. I agree that Avy should do the full coverage until the my match starts.

Also, it would be interesting to see stats on the number of viewers of FourFourTwo and the translation of those viewers to looking at our coverage

Should we add Melbourne Heart twitter. Seems like they do coverage for all their matches

It just rivals our coverage and clogs up the inter-face.
