Football has Ian Holloway. Rock n Roll has Lemmy. Classic reading. Blabbermouth wrote: MOTÖRHEAD's LEMMY: 'I Couldn't Possibly Do My Job If I Didn't Smoke And Drink' - Nov. 14, 2010Tim Nixon of The Sun recently conducted an interview with MOTÖRHEAD mainman Lemmy Kilmister. A couple of excerpts from the chat follow below. On his legendary lifestyle: "All kinds of things about me are legendary, not just the excesses. And, for me, they're not excesses anyway. What you do every day is normal, right? "Who cares if I drink? So what? 'This guy's a hopeless boozer. He should be in rehab.' "I'm not going to promote it as a lifestyle. I don't want some kids dying because they drunk because of me. If you say this guy drinks like a fish after 35 years in MOTÖRHEAD, they'll think, 'Oh, I can do that too.'" "This voice does good on cigarettes. That's part of the training. I have to keep smoking. If I stopped smoking, my voice would suffer. I couldn't possibly do my job if I didn't smoke and drink." "My elders and betters told me it was a good thing to smoke. One advert said that it helps you to breathe 'cause it clears your passages." On his refusal to compromise: "I ain't doing music for you guys — I'm doing it for me. If we like it, you'll hear it. If you like it as well, that's really good. But if you don't, I couldn't give a fuck. You can't listen to what the record company wants you to do because they don't know shit about it. All they sell is cans of beans. "When we signed with Sony, all these motherfuckers came down with their wives and kids for a visit while we were working. I said, 'Fuck you, I don't come in and type on your typewriters all day, do I? Fuck off.'" On his estimate that he's ONLY slept with "a thousand" women — rather than the oft-bandied number of 2,000: "I didn't start fucking until I was 17. I lived in north Wales, it's slow up there. "I've never been married, I've never lived with a girl for longer than two years — so I think that's an average of one a week. "It's an exercise, chasing girls. You have to work at it. And nothing's as easy when you're 64 as it was when you were 22, believe me." http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=149346

Black Hole Sun - Soundgarden Revolution - John Butler Trio
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

So Disturbed are bringing out Trivium and As I Lay Dying next year. So fucking lame. Would really like to see those 2 bands, but seriously, fuck Disturbed. Hopefully it's not too expensive, So I can justify walking out before the headliners. Never done that before

You just have a fucking shit taste in music. That song was terrible. It was a keyboard's generic synth playign basic chords with a modwheel and a basic 4 on the floor drum beat. A monkey could - and probably did - write that song.

More tickets have been released for Metallica in Melbourne. I really should waste 150 on this, but FMD I really want to.

Don't put words in my mouth. The kid with the guitar isn't bad...the video is cut together but he's still pretty damn good. Shouldn't have piped the guitar pedal straight into his soundcard though.

And the conclusion to Afro and Funky's argument is,
the song 'Pachebel Cannon Rock' is bloody awesome.
The original 'Pachelbel Cannon' is a very nice song to, but it is way classical, which makes it a bit too slow for my liking

Quote:Apple to secure the Beatles for iTunes Ethan Smith From: The Wall Street Journal November 16, 2010 STEVE Jobs is nearing the end of his long and winding pursuit of the Beatles catalogue. Apple is preparing to announce that its iTunes Store will soon start carrying music by the Beatles, according to people familiar with the situation, a move that would fill in a glaring gap in the collection of the world's largest music retailer. The deal resulted from talks that were taking place as recently as last week among executives of Apple, representatives of the Beatles and their record label, EMI Group, according to these people, who also warned that there is still a chance that Apple could change plans at the last minute. Spokesmen for Apple, EMI and Paul McCartney declined to comment. The agreement represents a watershed in a fraught, decades-long relationship between two of the biggest icons in their respective fields. The two sides have traded lawsuits since 1978, when the Beatles alleged that the computer maker, then known as Apple Computer, infringed on the band's trademark. That's because the Beatles in 1968 created a wholly owned entity called Apple Corps Ltd, which acted as an arts-promotion company and owned Apple Records. Though EMI retained ownership of the Beatles recordings, the Apple logo was printed on their albums. Terms of the deal that brought the Beatles music to iTunes could not be learned. http://www.theaustralian.com.au/business/news/apple-to-secure-the-beatles-for-itunes/story-e6frg90x-1225954232340

So it's coming to that time of year. Can't think of any releases to come before the new year, so it's time to start rating what's come:p.
A shit ton of releases to ponder, IMO anyway, will start my shortlist in the next couple of days. I think I already know who number 1 will be, but the rest of the list is in the open.

So i saw Metallica last night on their 2nd of 2 Adelaide shows.
Hmmm I found it a mixture of awesomenes and disappointment. I was with 6 mates and we all concluded the sound was average. We were at the very front so perhaps the sound was better thru the middle and out back. But according to another mate who was in the stands, he said the sound was shit for him too.
For that production and ticket price I expect better. Not very loud, clear or in ur face. We could barely make out any LoG songs. Really disappointed. As for the rest, yes it was good. Massive crowd. James, Kirk and Rob were all on the money.
Lars was very schizo and agro which was cool but he just overplays everything unnecessarily and it's all ok, if only he could execute it with complete precision. He should be ashamed because with all his money, he of ALL metal drummers worldwide can afford the time to practice or receive private tuition. No wonder Lombardo said at a drum clinic he did about a year ago that "Lars is a good friend but he needs to practice more".
But back to the sound, I think it all comes down to the distribution of sound. It must be a bitch when you're trying to send a mix into 4 different directions (the stage is 360 degrees). I noticed they had 2 mixing desks (possibly 3, I couldn’t see on the other side of the stage. But they had 1 on our side of the stage, and then they had another one on the same side of the stage, but further out on the top floor.
I noticed they also had 8 spotlights around the top perimeter of the arena. Think about it, that’s 8 light operators just for the spotties. Amazing. And they had a drinks lady, I also saw a laundry lady. I wonder if they brought their masseuse/physio person too? What an entourage. The black beach ball thing was a good laugh too, although it must be said that Black Label Society did that first when I saw them back in 06 or 07.
It’s funny cos I was just thinking a moment ago about the Nevermore show I caught back in ’99 at the InZone night club in front of 30 or 40 people. It definitely had the goose bump factor. Just blew my fkng mind. Zero on stage show, but they executed awesomely, and it was really intense and emotionally driven, and it was so much more amazing. Fear Factory in ’98 and Slayer in ’07 (?) at the Thebbie was the same. It just goes to show that stage shows are cool, but they should NOT be the focus.
Hetfield was really good. Unfortunately almost all of Kirk’s solos were lost in the mix... such a major fkng disappointment. It was hard to hear Rob but when it was just he and Lars jamming it sounded pretty fat.
Great stage show... The lasers, the giant hanging coffins, the lights, flames etc were all cool. All in all a good show.
