I have no idea why so many people are talking about them being in a premiership window, they played well above themselves to make last years prelim and everyone has got way too carried away by that IMO. Their forward line is seriously average and their midfield lacks X factor big time, they're so far behind the likes of Port, Sydney, Freo and Hawthorn it's ridiculous.

Beams was one of my favourite players so I'm gutted about this, initially I was sympathetic because of his fathers situation but the more it dragged on the more it looked like the cash was the main factor, skipping our B&F to get on the piss with his mates was very poor form.

Regardless of how bitter I am about him leaving, I still want to see him do well as he is a gun, IMO he'll end the season as your best player, I really do rate him more than I rate Rocky as he's a much more damaging player. Your midfield is scary good now, pity you don't have great options up front to capitalize on this though.

I'm hoping an injury free Swanny can get back near his best to help compensate for losing Beams' impact in the middle, Greenwood is an absolute bull in the contest too so he should at least free up Pendleburryand Swan to play a more damaging game. Looking forward to round one.

Long ago at grounds, the races (the path from the changerooms to the field) would have a metal mesh cage over them to protect the players from feral fans. Someone in the late 1930s got the idea of putting crepe paper streamers in their team colours over the entrance of this metal mesh race cage for the players to run through as though they were 'bursting' onto the arena gladiator style. Over time, poles were added either side to make these "run-throughs" portable and eventually these portable run-throughs, which became known as banners, got bigger and bigger as each club's cheer squad tried to out do the opposition cheer squad. As a result the League had to bring in a maximum size limit which is what we have now.

There also use to be in the 1960s-to-early 1980s, huge banners running right along the grandstand tiers and the ground fence for finals games but once advertising boards at stadiums came in, they were banned.

Can somebody please explain to me what the point/history/etc of those banners the teams run through at the beginning of a match is? I can't help but inwardly cringe when I see it.. I suppose I just don't get it?

I like Leuenberger but I don't think we'd want him tbh, we do really need a mature ruckman whilst Witts and Grundy are still developing but I don't think he's that man, plus he's made of glass.
