Yeah I was referring to the QLD based teams rather then QLD based players.

Don't get me wrong, our players are top notch lol.

I know what to expect from those pesky qlders but tbh I wouldn't have a clue what the blues will bring on the pitch - daley has taken the chill out approach going to be interesting to see how we perform.

This.

However there was no need for Gallen to go into that tackle with a swinging arm. And then after to lay in 2 solid punches for no reason. Maybe the banned substances are getting to Gallen's brain.

Yeah you could see Gallen really did think about it, saw who it was and thought it was his chance to get one back on someone who has used questionable techniques for years against the Bluse. 10 in the bin would have been fine. He should cop a week for that arm though. I'm not sure how you can be surprised by fights in such a physical sport and such an intense hatred. It was great to see such a complete performance from the boys and that they seem so close as a team

I thought he was lucky not to be sent to the bin but I also think Cooper Cronk was lucky not to be sent also a few minutes earlier for delaying a scoring opportunity by lying in the tackle.
There was some really nasty and dangerous tactics in the tackles by Queensland tonight. Pushing the shoulders back while forcing the head down, twisting legs, etc. They got worse as the second half went on. NSW may have also done some but the only thing I noticed was Gallen's swinging arm.

Queensland, especially in the 1st half, really missed Civoniceva and his ability to slow play by lying in tackles without being penalised.

So fucking happy with that performance and that win. Cannot downplay just how huge it is to win Game 1 of a series. Of the 29 series decided, 23 times the team that wins the first game goes on to win the series.

Hard to pick standouts out of that performance but I think Bird, Hayne and Lewis were a cut above, Lewis was a very well deserved MOTM. Maloney and Fifita were outstanding in their debuts, also thought Ferguson did very well. Good luck to Brett Stewart getting the #1 jersey back.

Thurston easily man of the match.

Did most of QLDs tackles and all of their passing plays.

A standout player in a team full of shit tonight.

Played like U7s and NSW should have punished us a lot more.

Refs also equally shithouse for calls on both sides.

I'd pick Maloney as MOTM. There was a massive difference when he was running plays as opposed to Pierce and Farah. Those two tried to force passes too much which lead to a lot of dropped ball and their kicking was vastly inferior.

I'd pick Luke Lewis, he smashed them and was making line breaks all over the park.

Also to add to the earlier discussion, nothing says rivalry like a punch in the face.

Great game of League, best performance by NSW in a long, long time. Queensland did their usual thing of rising in the final 20, but our defence held strong for once.

If and when you get the chance to watch a replay, watch how many times he was in there, running from one side of the field to the other and making/being in tackles when our own out of position players weren't doing the work.

Check how many times on kicks he was the one running through when our own centres/wingers were nowhere to be seen.

QLD were all over the shop as so was Thurston, but that's because he was overworking.

P.S. When the fuck are refs actually going to make players lock in for a scrum, fark me dead.
