That was one of the toughest games I've ever seen. Immense effort from Souths, they just overpowered them.

I'm a roosters supporter but I spent tonight in Marrickville - one of the loudest Pubs I have ever been in. Well done Souths, fully deserved.

Really, really enjoyed watching that final.

Like I thought last week, GI & his pals just overran the Bulldogs on Sunday. Even when the scores were close, the Rabbitohs never really looked threatened at losing - it was more just a matter of time before they scored (and to be fair, Bulldogs held them out for a decent amount of time). The George Burgess try really brought the game back into line, and it was all Rabbitohs from there. I love George - he runs so hard, no fear in that kid.

I thought a few of the pitbull's (I can't remember his name, the fat Ginger who plays for Bulldogs) challenges, particularly going in with his head, were pretty dangerous. But man I love his drive to win - he'll do anything and everything to get his team over the line.

I thought both teams had a few calls go their way, but didn't really think the ref favoured either more than the other. Probably the only time I thought the refs got it blatantly wrong was not sending off that guy for the professional foul by raking the ball on the goalline when the Rabbitohs player was clearly playing the ball after being tackled.

My old man and the mrs's grandad are both lifelong Rabbitohs supporters, so it was nice to see both of them happy with the result. Gives me hope that the torturous years of being a Jerks supporter will have a silver lining one day

Would anyone else like to see a PNG team in the NRL ? I certainly would and for a number of reasons.

1. I feel that the NRL is becoming a little stale, (or maybe I am just used to the globalization of football) A PNG team would offer a great energy and excitement to the league.

2. It would greatly improve the png national team thus making international league a little more interesting and would hopefully prove a genuine challenge for the kangaroos.

3. It could have a great social and financial impact on the country. It would provide great role models for the youth of PNG and give them something to look up to and also strive for.

I know financially it may not be appealing but I think it offers so much more that it is worth the investment. Plus the NRL aren't excactly tight on cash. Surely even the Australian government would chip in a little, they already provide a lot of aid money to PNG so some of that could be reallocated instead of going into the corrupt ministers pockets.

Even a Fijian team would be fantastic.

Facilities could easily be upgraded, of course there isn't going to be a 40k seat stadium there.

And I don't buy into the safety concern either. Has there been any issues when the PM 11 go over? Not that I can think of.

Again any safety concerns could easily be dealt with.

Well, PNG are competing in the Qld Cup as the Cutters.

Whatever it is, its a unique league where more than 1 country is playing in it simultaneously. Unlike that other game down there in Melbourne

As someone who has been involved with the game over there, the safety issues are massive. A one off fixture is very different to a full season there. The players might be able to be kept safe, but there would massive issues with the crowd pre and post game.

Again with proper facilities I'm sure the crowd issue could be resolved. They could even play limited home games in their first few seasons, start with 5/6 and go from there.

I think the NRL should be doing everything they can to make it work rather then just saying is won't be safe and moving on.

It's not a facility or NRL issue though, it's the issues they have in their society. It's a very unsafe place for the most part.

The main safety concern for a foreigner there is getting mugged on the street. Something that could be easily avoided in a number of ways.

And when you say safety issue, which part of the trip is the issue? Staying in the hotel, during the game or traveling to and from the game/ airport?

Thats a coward punch if I ever saw one. If this happened in the round ball game, the media here would be up in arms calling for him to get the death sentence and for the sport to be banished....meanwhile if its Rugby / AFL / League , its considered business as usual because its a "tough" sport where adrenaline can get the better of you.

Imo that's bordering on assault. First punch not so much, can put that down to the heat of the game and what not, but that one where the guy is on the ground, clearly out and unable to defend himself is just a dog act.

I like that the Poms have the same card system for their Super League.

Yeah the first punch isn't the problem, it's basic retaliation for the elbow he copped from Hohaia. It's the 2nd punch that's the problem.

Yea the 2nd punch scares me, its not the fact that he was KO'd prior but just how defenceless Hohaia was in that position crazy.

Also Socawho GAGF you campaigner, this has nothing to do with business as usual, or AFL or rugby, this incident has been widely criticized across the globe (and particularly within the sport) with talk of potential criminal proceedings.
