As a Qlder I'm happy about this
Almost certain he has something lined up to trial/train with. Wouldn't a announce it now otherwise He just said at his press conference, as it stands, he hasn't even talked to an NFL club.

Yeah, but he also said that he has spent time with an NFL club that has an Australian connection and even explained himself that he 'hasn't' spoken to a club because he legally hasn't been allowed to

Theyd be brutally murdered if they did Random comment And such a pointless one, it's like when NRL fans make the comment that they'd like to see a soccer player play NRL and that would show them what a real man is, it makes no sense, the NRL guys bodies have gotten used to the physicality of it, they have been doing it for 15 odd years. Put an NRL player on a soccer field and they would be made to look like idiots.

What position would Hayne play if, hypothetically, he was taken on by an NFL team?
Would they get him to bulk up to be a RB or TE? Surely he's not quick enough for a lot of positions.

The big issue will be if he is able to understand the game quick enough and whether or not he is better then the current options, which I can't see happening, is he really going to be a better option then someone coming straight out of college football having played the game since he was 6

Hayne's only realistic option is as a kick/punt returner. Very little chance of playing anywhere else.

I don't understand why he didn't just trial during the NRL off season, if the eels are happy to completely release him, surely they'd allow for some trials.

Now looks almost certain that the Seahawks and Hayne already have some sort of deal in place

Had he decided to move when he was 22/23 I'd have given him more of a chance, but he is months away from 27. It's going to take him atleast a year to learn the game and adapt his body.
So if all goes well he will be a 28 yr old rookie, how is he going to stand out above the hundreds of players in the college system in the same position who have been playing the game all their lives.

Can't see him being a punter, most likely a running back (although I think he'd have to lose 10 to 15Kg). @Roar #1 in terms of his body & a being able to adapt to the game it would've been better to leave when he was younger. But by leaving now he's made plenty of cash in the NRL (will no doubt have massive dollars thrown at him when/if he returns + he's been able to create these potential opportunities and networks with the Seahawks by playing at such a high level in NRL, if he left when he was 22 I doubt he'd get anywhere.

So for the first time since Khunt left we now have a fullback capable of catching and passing the ball. =d> =d> =d>

sydneycroatia58 wrote::lol: And there are people who still believe Barba went to Brisbane for family/homesick reasons. Might be a bit harsh. He had no choice to stay in Brisbane with Darius coming in, and Bennett let Hoffman know earlier about being cut so the Titans option went away. Part of his contract was also getting his brother a contract at the club. I've been told by someone (far from my best source) that the Bulldogs weren't/aren't interested in him ever coming back, which from what I do 100% know of the things he did whilst there is the correct decision. I think either way this is a bad bit of business by the Broncos. I would have kept either Hoffman or Barba over Boyd. It's been a long time since he's even looked first grade quality at club level. His only capable performances in over 12 months have been on the wing being fed on a silver platter by Inglis. But Barba to Cronulla of all places  Will 100% lead to trouble at some stage

All this talk of pro/rel in football, what would RL have looked like today if the NSWRL combined with QRL to make 2 divisions?

Disagree, Hoffman is superb at kick returns but he has virtually no passing game at all. He butchers almost every single attacking play we have in the opposition half, he simply refuses to pass. Would've been great to keep him as a winger though. I do feel Barba probably wasn't treated fairly at the club, Griffin's bulking program was ridiculous. However he looked well past his best and from the reports so far he's going to be paid two and a half times more than Boyd over then next two years. Personally I'd rather have Milford at fullback and either promote Taylor or bring in a half with a strong kicking game. Now lets sign some props. [-o< [-o< [-o<

Bet you Barba will flourish at the sharks - will be interesting to see. Thanks Choc - it was coming but very sad to lose you in our colours - good luck training the eels your going to need it. Looking forward to the Final - going to be a slog fest and I expect our class getting us the win.
