One good thing is that instead of having 2 weeks, Mbye, assuming he gets the spot, now has 2 months worth of football to really stake a claim.
Not sure if we'll have Hodkinson next season. If not I would love to see us go out and bring Sezer back to the club.

Would be a great deal if you could pull that off. Have honestly never rated Hodkinson. Think he's been lucky to play behind a great forward pack with you guys. Don't get me wrong, he's a solid halfback, but he needs a 5/8 that will do most of the creative work.

Will be interesting to see what Manly will do now, try and retain Foran than throw dollars at S Burgess and Sezer.

I do find i funny that they moved on some club legends just so they could keep these guys and they've just pissed off instantly after tearing the team apart. Also that DCE deal with the Titans is shocking for them. Its not a four year deal its a two year deal with a player option of another two years. So if he plays well he'll opt out after two years to get more cash on the open market however if he plays poorly he'll sign on for those extra years. If the Titans aren't competitive for the next two years he'll probably opt out anyway.

Wasn't pretty but it was good to get the win. Defence was superb.
Hunt is just so classy, good night from Kahu as well.
Wish we'd stop playing Maranta though, he must make about 4 metres a run it's simply not good enough.
Barba confirming we made the right decision in letting him go.
Lastly the Sharks got away with murder in the ruck (most notably Fifita).
Saw him try and hook someone and than he gets a penalty for it.
Or when one of our players went to play the ball he pushes them to the ground, no pen. A minute later he's flopping around on the ground drops the ball and than he gets a penalty for it. Happened all night no consistency from the refs at all.

So infuriating to watch such a horrible quality game knowing both teams have world class attacking fullbacks being played out of position. It's only early but can already see Milford going the same way as Barba at the Broncs. He's more likely to make a quality 5/8 than Barba, but he's not ready for it yet.
The other game was much higher quality. Dogs looked good, but it really makes Penrith's win last week look so impressive, considering the Dogs weren't anywhere near them.
Klemmer's effort trying to kick the ball away from Morris for Parra's third try has to be one of the funniest/stupidest things I've ever seen a player do.

Agree re Milford, his biggest strength is his running game from broken play let him play to it, he'll develop into a quality 5/8 over time. Means we could put Kahu on the wing and dump Maranta as well. :d Only problem is who we'd play at 5/8 , I know a lot of people want Hodges but I'd like someone with a strong kicking game. Taylor is an option I guess likewise Nichols. I'd love it if we could poach Nona though. Its funny if you think about Peter Wallace would probably be able to compliment Hunt perfectly. Re Barba he's nowhere near a world class fullback and I'd rather Gordon & Holmes ahead of him. But yea he shouldn't be playing at 5/8 though. Can't believe the Sharks were so foolish in signing him.

Barba with confidence was a Dally M medalist, he just needs to find his feet again but it won't happen at 5/8. I actually think Boyd could play 5/8 when he comes back. I'd like to see him given a go there. Watching the other game last night I thought Corey Norman would be the perfect 5/8 for you guys if you still had him.

No thanks, Norman has a heart the size of a pea. He put in no effort when he was with us and choose to chase big dollars instead.

So good to beat Manly. Would have won by 20 or so if we actually had a halfback.

Hope the Cowboys can get their shit together. :( Yeah no clue what the fuck is going on there, new lads just not clicking yet maybe? Forwards not doing enough? People not fucking tackling the lad in front of them? So many soft tries conceded last night. I actually miss the Sims brothers regardless of how much shit they used to get into. -PB

I just think we wanted it alot more than you guys.
Your defending was woeful.
Far too many basic mistakes in your own end as well.
Its funny with Tariq gone Ethan Lowe is now in your starting side and he's been far and away your best player. Feel dirty for saying this but Ashton sims had been a lot better than Tamou and Hannant combined.

Great win tonight. Winning 2 out of 3 to start the season without Friend is amazing. Was worried him missing for so long could cost a chance at the top 4 but if we can be close when he gets back we're a huge chance.

On Sunday night I was out and saw Ben Barba from Sharks and Nielsen from Dragons punching on outside a nightclub also, lucky for them no-one seems to have recorded it.

Apparently I'm heading to the Knights/Panthers game this wkend - was handed free tickets somehow. The last NRL game I went to live was in 2011 I think.
Apparently the Knights are doing well currently? I didn't even know the season had started back up until last week

sydneycroatia58 wrote:Looks like Vidot is gone. That's disappointing he may have some shocking hands but he had the 3rd most metres in the comp last season. Would have him on the wing ahead of Maranta, Oates & Reed. WB has always been stubborn though. (I hope Garbutt doesn't suffer the same fate).

Really not sure what Ch 9 & the NRL are thinking in having two all Sydney matches on a Friday night and than having both of them delayed into QLD. Hopefully they get slaughtered in the ratings.

Broncos can't play every Friday night. Cowboys V Storm could have been on paper but 9 would be happy that it's not considering the start of the season. There are 2 premiership contenders and 2 top 8 contenders playing tonight so at least it's good footy.

Yea personally don't wont the Broncos playing every Friday night would love a lot more day games. Didn't bother tonight, not going to tune into a 1 hour delayed telecast and then wait another 20 to 30 minutes for pregame segment where Freddy, Joey & Co can act like halfwits . They have 3 channels ffs stop treating viewers like mugs. The AFL kicks off next week, good chance I'll be able to watch more live matches of that in R1 on free to air in Brisbane than the first four rounds of the NRL season.
