This is an exhibition in how to lose a game from NSW.

So winning Origin was fun while it lasted. Here's to another decade of QLD winning.

Good win, Origin really isn't what it used to be though.

wtf is up with NSW players not packing a scrum and forcing the ref to go to the video ref, 5 minutes later Smith wants the ref to go up to the video ref for Slater potentially being taken out yet the ref won't. Either give both teams the opportunity or don't do it at all. :x

Anyway the myth that is GI continues has no idea how to impose himself on a big game.

Hodges & Chambers, superb running tonight. =d>

Boyd was well off the pace.

Still think we need another big forward in the team, Happy with Mcguire's debut though.

Lastly that NSW backline  having cats like Tupou & Hopoate bringing the ball back doesn't scare anyone.

wow, just realized how many of you guys seem to be following this game. even those that support a Victorian team.

Just don't see why so many people hate the idea of football doing something like this. A state of origin series for local players only after the a-league season. You could even include some promising NPL players and help build their skills/profile

Some benefits.
Help build the profile of football especially during the "off season" Check
Keep players skills up to scratch playing competitive games. check
Potential to include NPL players and build their skills profile. check
Potential to increase FFA revenue through gates and tv rights. Check

I know every one thinks it's lame, corny, stupid, idiotic, crazy. and I should shut up, get my self checked, delete my profile. kill my self etc. but they thought the same thing about RL state of origin and it has done nothing but wonders for their game. why can't we do the same?

Anyway time for me to find some rope.

Please tell me you're kidding? Pearce was very solid. Him, Dugan, Morris and Hopoate did great. Poor use of the interchange by Daley and Farrah and Hodkinson butchering our field goal chances cost us the game.

Gallen coming back in game 2 is the game changer if he can get fit. Hodkinson needs to go for Maloney, Tupou needs to go for anyone, and Jackson and Cordner will be under pressure for their spots. Wouldn't be against a more dynamic player like Austin coming on the bench.

Finally Klemmer, Fifita, Woods and Tamou =d> Great going up front. Was a great game. Nothing delivers like State of Origin does.

Pretty sure GI has a Clive Churchill medal, 2 rep player of the year awards, 15 origin and 27 test tries, as well as being responsible for nearly every rep try Boyd has scored ;)

The main problem is that you'd have more that unlike league where it seems somewhat even, NSW has a massive amount of players compared to the other associations. On weight of numbers NSW would/should dominate such a competition just like it normally dominates national selection. To make it even you would have to split NSW several times and then you'd just end up with a domestic only a-league.

I also can't see the clubs being happy about having more representative games to disrupt their players.

I will watch Origin and support Queensland, but as much as Gus is a legend for his past, its time for a change in the commentary box. Gus is just an 80 minute cliche-athon. I am surprised he didnt pull out the, "Let them play all night", or "can we come back again tomorrow night and do this again"

The commentary is getting stale, and this constant adulation and building up of fights and tiffs is silly. The game has moved on. I suppose the hardcore NRL fans never will so it the game has to continue regurgitating the same stuff.

Another year passes and its that time to salute the Baby Broncos again. =d>
Quote:
Baby Broncos trample 'Tigers reserves

After watching a second-string Brisbane outfit humble his side last night, Wests Tigers coach Terry Lamb declared: "We got beat by a reserve-grade side, so we must be a reserve-grade side ourselves."

In an embarrassing performance that left Lamb and captain Darren Senter shattered, the Tigers were accused of trying to "intimidate" their inexperienced opponents after being outplayed by a Broncos side that was virtually Brisbane's feeder team, the Toowoomba Clydesdales.

Featuring six rookies, two 17-year-olds, and only one player - Phil Lee - who hadn't spent time in the Queensland Cup this season, it was the youngest Brisbane side to take the field.

Most of the rookies will be back to the feeder club next weekend when Brisbane regain the services of their nine Queensland Origin representatives, but many of them appear destined for bright futures.

"The main thing I told them was to just go out and enjoy themselves, and I'm sure they did," stand-in Broncos coach Craig Bellamy said.
Yet in a spiteful match, three players were placed on report - Brisbane replacement Nathan Friend (kneeing) and Tigers pair Ahmad Bajouri and Willie Manu for lifting tackles.

Broncos skipper Shane Walker was heard to complain to referee Tim Mander: "We've got a lot of young blokes out here and we're copping all these high shots - they're trying to intimidate us."

Asked about his comments at the post-match press conference, Walker said: "They had their full complement playing tonight and I think they were just getting frustrated that these young blokes had come down here and were getting the better of them."

The Tigers trailed 6-2 at half-time after former Junior Kiwi prop Robert Tanielu had crossed in the 13th minute for the only try of an uneventful first term following a dummy-half run from skipper Shane Walker.

Joel Caine, whose in-goal fumble led to the Broncos' try, kicked a penalty nine minutes later but the only time Wests went close to scoring was when John Skandalis lost the ball reaching out to plant it under the posts.

Any thoughts that the Tigers would come out after the break and blow the inexperienced visitors off the park were quickly extinguished when Brisbane winger Steve Irwin scored in the 42nd minute off a Brett Seymour kick.

A 90m intercept try by Casey McGuire in the 50th minute all but sealed the Broncos' win, but hooker Robert Mears gave the crowd of 9,540 some hope when he scored off his grubber-kick five minutes later.

With tempers spilling over after several flare-ups and controversial incidents, the home side's misfortunes were probably best summed up by Lincoln Withers's attempted shoulder charge on Tanielu - the Tigers five-eighth knocking himself out.

"If there's a bottom of the barrel, we're at it now," Senter said.

Lamb added: "I'm a very proud man but I'm not proud tonight."

BRISBANE BRONCOS 28 (S Irwin 2, C McGuire 2, R Tanielu tries; S Prince 4 goals) bt WESTS TIGERS 14 (R Mears,

T Wozniak tries; J Caine 2, H Saleh goals) at Campbelltown Stadium. Referee: T Mander. Crowd: 9,540.

Yep. Signed a huge deal with Manly for at least the next 6 years. Leaves the Titans with no options.
