Signed a huge deal with Manly for at least the next 6 years. Leaves the Titans with no options. And to top it all off he waited until a week before the deadline to do it.

Titans shuffled a lot of their roster for him. Stupid that the cooling off period has only just been shortened but in reality there should be none at all, a stupid rule indeed. -PB

Massive dog act by DCE. (But not exactly surprising)
But anyway lol at Manly, DCE isn't worth that kinda money (To put things in perspective BHunt is on about a quarter of that). Not to mention they've spent a lot of dollars on Myles as well, who is in decline.
Thinking positively for GC - even with DCE the weren't going to be competitive next season and the whole saga would play out again the following season with his plus one deal.
Titans need a full blown rebuild now - so give Taylor/Bird the sack.
In terms of halves I'd be looking at Maloney, Mbye, Cornish, Taylor, Nona & Norman.
Throw big dollars at Sam Burgess when he fails to make the RWC squad.
Team for next season:
1. Hoffman 2. Don 3. Roberts 4. Zillman 5.Mead 6.Elgey 7. Cornish 8. Douglas 9. Moseley 10. T.Arona 11. RJames 12. Grevsmuhl 13. S Burgess 14. D Hala 15. L Burr 16. L Brown 17.D Mortimer
Next year will be tough but they'd have signed some really handy players just about to enter their prime.
Following season target:
Copley, Papalii, Jackson, Klemmer, JBird, Koroibete, Lowe, Mansour, GBurgess, Dwalker, NMcDonald, MTaupau, etc.
Would be a very competitive side for 2017. Well that's what I'd do, now watch GC sign none of these guys.

Jackson and Klemmer will probably be tied down to new deals well before that.

sydneycroatia58 wrote:Jackson and Klemmer will probably be tied down to new deals well before that. I think Jackson will stay but I can see a pretty big bidding war for Klemmer. Obviously his best option is to stay and learn off Graham but money talks. But regardless I hope the Titans do a proper rebuild and not pay big money to the likes of Thaiday, Sandow, etc. :-&

Sandow is off contract isn't he? Can see the Titans being the Titans and offering him stupid money.

-PB I'd have Hunt & Segeyaro ahead of him as well. (Even Gillett for the utility role). On the Titans, they've given James Roberts a 3 year deal worth a million dollars. Good move for both parties.

DCE is the best player out of them, but agree with PB that Morgan is best suited to that bench position.

-PB Just doesn't have much left in his legs anymore, can still have some good games origin 1 for example. Very clinical first half from us, Hunt has been in everything. :d Really enjoyed that Vidot try.

What on earth do you have to do in NRL in order to get a professional foul and be sent off for 10 (if what Matai just did ISN'T a pro foul)? -PB

Bar a 10 minute period we were outstanding. Everyone was superb tonight. =d> The Hunt/Milford halves combo is mouthwatering at the moment. Think Manly will be a bottom 8 (perhaps even 4) for the next few seasons, I know they've got a couple of guys injured at the moment (+add in Myles) but gee you take out Foran they are in some real trouble. paulbagzFC wrote:What on earth do you have to do in NRL in order to get a professional foul and be sent off for 10 (if what Matai just did ISN'T a pro foul)?
-PB Exactly that was disgraceful, wtf has happened in the NRL that is a sin bin everyday of the week.

Blame the NRL for having a stupid 13-week 'cooling off' period. What he did was very smart for looking after his own interests.

He could sue for that. Pretty much. That's defamation right there. Don't think he will though. DCE is pretty thick skinned.

DCE is one of the most overrated/biggest flogs in the league who plays for a scummy club, I'd be more surprised if he wasn't booed. So what if its the rules, it doesn't mean he had to piss over both clubs, management, fans, teammates, etc. The way he acted if people want to boo, so be it.

FFS it is all legal and above aboard. This happens every day in normal working life. And yes it is his job. He ain't the first and last RL player to renege on a deal.

The best part about this whole DCE thing was Tallis criticising him considering what he did to the Dragons was probably worse. Hilarious irony.
