Even surprised Tupou was dropped.
-PB Tupou getting dropped isn't a huge surprise. Was always a decent chance once Morris got through the match against the Dragons. Yup, the Morris twins in one team are farken deadly. -PB

So if Slater misses Origin 2 who plays fullback?
GI? Would be the obvious option. Simply bring in Gagai at Centre.
Boyd? Not sure if you'd want to move him from the wing but he has good hands and is normally very reliable.
Morgan? Put him straight at fullback - means you don't have to shuffle GI, Boyd, Chambers around. Opens the door to select one of the most in form players of the past couple of seasons in BHunt in that utility role as well.

Would have to be GI. Gagai would come in for sure.

Footy Show has run its course hence why something fresh starts gaining runs on the board. Mind you M Johns stretch's my attention, funny at times and cringe worthy next. Being a Blue I have to admit liking JT for years, both on and off the field. So hows all those Maroons going to cheer DCE on LOL.....if he plays well the cliche quotes will be he's good done his job well, if not he's crap yaddayaddayadda  All I'd like to see - Hodges being reemed, not once but as many as possibly can be done, one of the dirtiest over rated grubs in the game. Don't care what he's like off the pitch, he could be motha teresa but on the pitch he's a grub.

Nah, I'd still boo DCE lol, he shouldn't be in the squad and other Maroons officials have stated that he was picked on loyalty lol. Hunt is having a 10x season then DCE and should be in the starting halves. Interesting article in the paper today about pushing GI to the wing, might have been before Slater was ruled out though. It is one thing I hate about rep football though, picking players and playing them in positions that they don't play in week in week out for the club (which is the form that they earnt a call up to that rep side for). Why put GI on the wing when it is shown in NRL that wingers are rarely used bar 4th/5th tackle plays and those very few specific teams that play their back lines more often (rather then the just one pass out the ruck then tackle aka Justin Hodges only ball game 101). -PB

Well its a no brainer - Hunt is playing in a winning club side whilst DCE is going through the worst Manly have been in years. Loyalty has always been considered anyway, I'll just LOL if he plays well and listen to the foot and mouth later on. I agree re players playing out of their usual positions but thats rep football. If they play GI on wing great move ;)

When it comes to DCE being selected for Qld all the talk about his backflipping ways (something which is being pushed heavily by the media) is really irrelevant. Performance and form is whats important here. DCE's past performances for QLD (and with Australia at the recent 4Nations + last seasons NRL campaign) have been poor/below par. This year in the NRL he's certainly been playing better in fact I'd say due to Foran being out injured a fair bit he's had to more of the heavy lifting so to speak in a struggling team. But he's 26 now, the time of him being picked on potential/loyalty should be over and he needs to stand up and perform or if he doesn't be replaced. (As we've got the options) BHunt - has been in better form than DCE in the past two seasons, saved Aus from a embarrassing defeat to England in the 4 Nations. Not to mention his play style would also complement the others in the team and his team is on top of the ladder. Morgan- has also been in great form over the past two seasons (even more so this season), is JT's halves partner and his team is also is on top of the ladder. paulbagzFC wrote:Interesting article in the paper today about pushing GI to the wing, might have been before Slater was ruled out though.

-PB I can see why they would do this for the kick returns but to change a teams whole structure because one player doesn't know how to impose himself in a game is concerning. GI needs to do what Hodges and Chambers did in the first game and actually look for work, Mal also has to create plays for GI as well.

MJ's show isn't bad. Will never compare to the Footy Show of old. Fuck me dead though, those Hindmarsh and Fletcher skits are absolutely terrible.

In regards to the footy shows, I don't understand why we have so many of them with the whole drunken yobbo feel to it. Yea a bit of comedy isn't bad (although the Thursday footy show is horrid) but there is very little in regards to actual match analysis. Virtually none on FTA; yea they've got the Sunday footy show but thats just a quick recap of the match and it doesn't really delve any deeper.
Even during match telecasts very little is broken down as well - straight off to an ad.
A few of the commentators are absolute dinosaurs and simply aren't capable of providing analysis. (Lewis, Hadlee & Rabs is just there to call the play). Gus spends fair too much time bickering. Freddie is always on another planet. Joey tries but he gets caught up with Freddie and the 'boys' and Lockyer doesn't have the voice/isn't confidence enough in his speaking skills.
All and all its just a chore to watch these telecasts, they need to get with the times. Use more stats, highlight team moves/tactics, focus on individual players strength/weaknesses and not regurgitate the same stale opinions week after week.

All clubs/NRL have press requirements and surely have a contract with Fox that would say they can select anyone from the team or backroom staff to be interviewed. I hate the half time interview shit in general, but if it's a breach of contract, fair enough.

From the article I read, Fox are allowed to interview the Coach at halftime, Hasler didn't want to and he sent his assistant instead to do it. Its ridiculous.

Arm wrestling ffs.
-PB I agree it is a shit show, it's been shit since the earl 2000's but they keep winning bloody Logie awards beating the other shows like the AFL one. As for the arm wrestle, all money raised was going to the men of league charity and by all accounts it has raised a good bit of money for them.. It was an accident.
