Pretty dire game tbh.
How on earth did Kahu not get MOTM? Must have saved a good three or four tries, was superb all night, while Gallen on the other-hand hogged it something chronic in the opposition 20 and butchered a few.
GI at Centre and Boyd at fullback was the right call, Boyd's acceleration/passing on those wrap arounds is just so crisp - pretty much unstoppable if your centre/winger runs a good line.
Gus was really having a sulk in that second half, we barely got out of second gear and outside of Cronk/JT had new combinations across the rest of the backline. If we were unimpressive I'd hate to think what the kiwis were.
I like how he rattled off about 10 missing kiwis and the majority of them were centres/wingers and a fullback who would've made no difference out there tonight.
I find criticizing the age of our side a bit ridiculous as well;
Parker is a freak and just gets better with age, really should've had more minutes tonight.
Smith is still the best hooker in the comp.
JT/Cronk honestly you'd pick them before starting Morgan or Hunt.
Gallen is hog but you know what you'll get from him - plenty of tackles and good metres.
Thaiday - two years ago I'd have said he didn't deserve to be in the Broncos 17 but last season he was back to his best and deserved to retain his spot for Aus (not sure for how much longer)
GI - it doesn't matter how poor he's been this season at this stage he's still an automatic pick.
Anyway if anything I was more concerned with the performances of a few of the younger guys Gillett, Papalii & Dugan.
After that game I'd like to see the following changes for the next match:
Oates in for Dugan (Ferguson to CT), one of Cartwright or Lowe for Papalii, Klemmer for probably Tamou (maybe Scott) - I'd like to see another dynamic front rower, we really don't need all 3 of Scott, Gallen & Tamou in the same side.
I'd like to see a gradual change of Thaiday to Napa over the next 12 to 18 months as well.

Went to the game last night. Glad I got to see JT live, bit apart from that all I took from the game was I'll never pay money to watch that sport again. It's rarely impressed me and for the top level of the sport to be that boring, just not for me at all. I have no idea how the sport has survived this long with such a following.

Which is a shame because the PNG Tonga game will most likely be amazing. -PB

Unless it's a final Aus v NZ games have always been pretty dire, State of Origin is also the top level of the sport as well. I'd suggest watching a few Broncos or Cowboys games always entertaining. Titans just signed Peats on a 18 months contract - great get.
Desperately need a good fullback, but the makings of a great spine.
6. Elgey 7. Taylor 9. Peats

How can both referees miss Smith not being square at 2nd marker along with being offside by a minute-ish. How about having the guts to make the correct call (a penalty to Nth Qld), or accept the criticism directed at them (without fining the player/coach/club) on the receiving end of such a costly call. Don't get me wrong, Cowboys played poorly, but to have such a blatant/professional foul not called/picked-up by either/both refs is unacceptable.

Don't like this Mitchell is the next Inglis talk, when GI was 18 he was so far ahead of what Mitchell is now that it's not funny.

Inglis is a freak and one of the best of his generation. I do feel bad for Mitchell though because no 18 year old in the modern game should come straight in at fullback. Fitness wise he just can't handle it yet. His running style and fend are similar to GI though which is a good sign for any kid.
