Glad to see most have kicked on here. Midfield somewhat disappointing whereas some strikers have given up the game. Still, top value in Iredale next season hopefully and Juric is going great.

+xRemember seeing this the first time barely knowing any names. They're mostly still around these days. Good to see. Use this thread for 2021 version. https://forum.insidesport.com.au/2944311/NEW-2021-TOP-50-AUSTRALIAN-YOUTH-DETAILED-AND-RANKED?PageIndex=2

+xStill love this thread. Melbourne City have certainly had some decent youth come through. Each club has done well at their own time and do have 1 or 2 each doing well. Sydney, however, have some really interesting prospects. What are they doing do well? Is there something unique or special in their work? No more than several other clubs. But it’s Sydney so people write about them because, err most of the press is based there, and people lap it up.
If you want to know how good a clubs youth system is, look at players age 20-25 today that came through that system.
I don’t know Sydney that well - I’m sure there must be some?

I would add Aiden O'Neill to that lot. I thought he is still only 22 (born 4 July 1998), and Melbourne City would have won the Grand Final with him on the paddock. All things being equal (and they never are), I reckon his signing makes them early favourites for the 20/21 Season.

+xThanks for bumping this a few times Johnszasz. It was good to get updates in this thread after I've been on a hiatus from this forum for a while. I have to to say that I feel pretty disappointed to see how little they've all developed in 2 years. Who do we still see as our current highest potential prospects? McGree still looks good I think? 1998: McGree 1999: Arzani 2000: Ryan/Duncan/Toure 2001: Italiano/Brook/Ruiz-Diaz 2002: Teague/Watts/Pavlesic 2003: Robertson/Hammond 2004: Toure/Segecic/Rawlins 2005: Toure

Caletti is more than capable but people judge on size and speed way too much in Australian football.

+x+x+xNever would of thought Caletti would end up in the lower Norwegian leagues.Hopefully can push on. What happened with John Roberts? He was always too small to play a sitting six as a defensive role. He is not good enough to be regarded as a deep lying playmaker. His usefulness is too limited so I am not at all surprised that he was dropped from A league squads. I don’t know the Norwegian league well but I can’t see him climbing up the euro ladder. Gattuso wasn’t “tall” but made up for it with brute strength and aggression. Maybe Caletti could look to do something similar? Gattuso is on wiki as 5’10. That’s very different to calletti’s 5’4”. So I don’t think he is capable of the 6 role in any euro setting. I would be suggesting the East Asian leagues to him if I was his agent. Better than where he is atm. Low lever euro carries the name only not the quality.

With NYL starting soon, anyone got a list of relatively unknown players to watch out for this season? Would great to see a bunch break out and go from NYL to AL through the season - can only help the national teams.

John Roberts has just scored for Australia U20. Surely he'll get in a matchday squad soon.

+x+xNever would of thought Caletti would end up in the lower Norwegian leagues.Hopefully can push on. What happened with John Roberts? He left WSW and signed for Mt Druitt in NPL1. Did ok there and has since been signed for CCM, yet to crack the match day squad yet however. Thanks as he had big wraps on him it's good too see that he still is in the mix.

+x+x+xNeed to add Dylan Wenzel Hall to the stikers list. He would almost go to the top based on current form IMO. I rate him for some reason he reminds me of rooney, similar style...kind of Wayne or Sean? Wayne Rooney never played for Marconi. :P

Bumping this beauty. Lots of the predictions are coming on nicely. Some have inevitably disappeared and others have come onto the scene. How I want Italiano, Iredale, McGree, Arzani and O'Neill to rule in a gold shirt.

+x+x+x+x+xQuoting to have this visible on current page so users don't have to click back and forth So, um where's the actual list...? gotta be on a computer to view I am on a computer. It's just a list of how the rankings were determined and a summary by position... Is it embedded using some fancy plugin? Hmm. I can view all images on phone and computer. Scroll up a bit. Can you see it? There's only 9 paragraphs of text, a few introductory paragraphs, one on the rankings, and another few on the different positions. That's it apart from a link to the first page of the Aussies Abroad thread. I'd paste a screenshot but you can't do that on here.

+x+xSo many of these kids haven't been developed enough which is a travesty. Welcome to youth developed. Most wonderkids dont become superstars It's not about them able they turn into superstars is whether they are able to become professional players and eventually help our national team.

+xMillislav Popovic was in Braunschweig II in season 17/18. Currently in season 18/19 he is playing for SV Lafnitz in the Austrian 2.liga. Yeah unfortunate he didn't get a chance with the first team in the 3rd division after very good goal to game ratio in the 4th tier. He's done his knee now and is out for a while.
