Exactly why clubs like South Melbourne were NEVER going to be part of the A League.

No excuses - the guys who jumped the fence and celebrated by the side of the pitch were idiots, the three tools who ran to the penalty area and had words with the keeper deserve to be forced to watch NRL for a few years.

The 3980 who weren't involved in the trouble, and who booed the pitch invaders, and the committee members who've worked near miracles over the last few months to raise the profile of the club (and who removed at least two memberships from the offending 'supporters'), will once again suffer due to the actions of a few idiots.

Your club which is in its death throes anyway now should be removed permanently from the premier league and end this fiasco once and for all. If for no other reason than the club failing to control a section of its dysfunctional fans, attacking players and abusing and attacking linesman and officials which as you know are all major breaches of FFA Regulations. Your excuses for this behaviour, I dont want to hear there simply are none.

The reason why you don't hear as much about pitch invasions at HAL games is because the FFA/clubs spend thousands on security so there's loads of security and police personnel at games. But i see it all the time at Hindmarsh, MV fans jump the fence and head for the pitch but get picked up immediately because of tight security.

The FFV should invest more in stadium security... i'm assuming BJ Stadium has CCTV? Get their identities and ban them for life. Bit by bit, it will catch on amongst the other tossers when their mates can't get in anymore and they will learn quick. It needs to be done ASAP because all the club's hardwork (new stadium, Oceania award, SMFC TV, Singapore FA Cup etc) will be undone quickly. Much like the A-League has it's detractors from rival codes, these old NSL teams have their own detractors to deal with.

Skinet, Your MV lot are by far the fucking worst of the lot! But i aint stupid enough to say "Ban Melbourne Victory from the HAL" for i know just as much as you, that's a stupid thing to say, just because a small minority has fkd it up for the rest of your members and fans.

For the record - I've made it quite clear how upset I am by the idiotic behaviour of the pitch invadors - particularly the three who ran all the way to the box to verbally abuse the keeper.

However it must be made very clear - not one finger was laid on any of the Heidelberg players or the officials.

End of the day - no supporter should cross over onto the pitch, there's no excuse for it, so I'm not defending or condoning the idiots - but the facts should be clear.

As for the RedEye's comment about CCTV. Yep, it's there and the tapes are being checked. 2 memberships were cancelled in the clubrooms immediately after the game (including the clown who confronted the keeper).

A very helpful post from someone clearly in the know. Give this guy a medal, and let him take over for Archie Fraser because he is a GENIUS THAT KNOWS AND SEES EVERYTHING.

It's a real shame that South Melbourne farewelled their home in this way. I'm one of the biggest supporters of traditional football clubs in Australia but this is definitely a major backwards step at a time when South Melbourne were getting lots of positive media attention.

I'm assuming some action is going to be taken against this post.Fair enough if you're disappointed in the antics of a select few fans as i am but there better be some consequences for the generalisations in that post.

first of all no officials or players were attacked lets make that perfectly clear, throwing out south melbourne is a bit extreme dont you think? do we throw out MV as well because they nailed a player in the head with a flare at the same venue? imo a far worse incident.

some of the opinions on this forum are downright scary such as "fcuk off greeks", im not even greek and i find that offensive, the biggest shame is the complete blowup of this incident, the only thing i'll accuse those people who ran on the field of is pure stupidity, im not gonna call them thugs or violent ppl because they never acted in that manner, if we are gonna start throwing out teams for jumping on the field to celebrate a goal well we may as well pack it up and quit, some of you posters should be ashamed of yourselves.

Calm down, just tongue in cheek banter... If the MV trouble makers are not as bad as AU trouble makers or SMFC trouble makers are worse than MV trouble makers... who really cares ey? Violence is violence? Right? Or are you one of those people that sees a strange difference between the "Ethnic violence" of the NSL and the current "Territorial violence" in the HAL??

And that was the point of my post... calling for a ban on SMFC from the VPL or justifying their absence from the HAL because of this is as "genius" as me or you calling for a ban on MV or AU clubs for all the trouble that has been caused between these 2 clubs.
