My opinion of your tactics has gone down further and I cannot wait until you are out,Pim.

What do you think about the FourFourTwo article Verbeek Down But Not Out?
AUSTRALIA coach Pim Verbeek admitted that only two victories from here on would be good enough to secure the Socceroos a second consecutive spot in the last 16 of the World Cup following their humiliating 4-0 loss to Germany in their opening group game on Sunday night.

Have your say.

Pim did not once experiment with the side in the entire lead up to this game but once the game starts we are trying to play offside, our def line is too far up and getting exposed, we had no striker to pressure the defence, we had no left winger to get in behind basically it was the most embarrasing performance ive witnessed by australia

if australia doesnt beat ghana and serbia your career is over. so dont fuck it up like you fucked this up.

australian players deserve better than 4-0. they need to step up and deliver if australian football is ever going to survive past this world cup.

The number of cards was just ridiculous!! I understand that FIFA have to pay compensation to clubs for injured players, but that was not a dirty game. Ref was a joke!!!
What type of job is Pim taking in Morrocco?? NT or club team??

PIM YOU ARE A JOKE.

FFA PAID PEANUTS AND THEY DIDN'T GET THE BEST MAN FOR THE JOB.

GUUS HAD A FEW MONTHS AND HE DID GREAT IN THE SHORT TIME HE HAD. PIM HAS HAD 3 YEARS AND HE HAS FAILED BADLY.

I KNOW GERMANY IS A VERY GOOD TEAM, BUT TEAM POOR TEAM DEVELOPMENT, SQUAD AND TEAM SELECTION AND MATCH PLANNING WERE VERY EVIDENT TODAY.

I KNOW GERMANY ARE VERY GOOD, BUT OUR TEAM STRUCTURE AND POOR GAME PLAN MADE THEM LOOK BETTER.

i PRAY THAT THE TEAM IMPROVES FOR GHANA AND SERBIA.

GO AUSSIES.

Actually, if Australia beats Ghana, a draw against Serbia might just be enough provided the Germans beat the Ghanaians and at least draw with Serbia.

But thats in the future. We have to beat Ghana.

Incidentally, Serbia-Ghana was a pretty ordinary game. Obviously we'll have to play a lot better but its not like we have to play Germany twice more.

The team have rarely played well under Pim. Even when we were winning games, the results were unconvincing and lucky. Without the outstanding individual plaudits of Mark Schwarzer we would not have qualified for South Africa in the first place. Pim's knack for getting results while having the team play miserable football has ended.

Absolutely horrible tactics today. In attack we had no cohesion, we got no combination play in the attacking third and our off the ball running was none existent. All we did was lump it into the box where an out of position Timmy would go one against the who back line. In defence we persisted with the high line and off side trap even when we were continually caught out of position and burned for pace. Against a clinical side like Germany its no different than inviting them in for the kill. While I didn't expect us to win or do well, I know the players are capable of so much more, and I think they would have done much more if we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot with Pim's plans.

"I know the players are capable of so much more, and I think they would have done much more if we didn't shoot ourselves in the foot with Pim's plans."

I agree ... and the pity is we've left ourselves in a position where we will find it very difficult to dust ourselves off and go forward with it. Our terrible GD and Cahill's red has seen to that.

I can see the broad Australian public's interest in "soccer" colapsing in a heap now. Everyone will be off the bandwagon. A great pity ...

db sweeney, well it doesn't look like its possible to appeal. But the FIFA disciplinary committee can over rule the mexican's decision if they deem he has made a mistake when they review all the cards - which in my completely unbiased opinion he has..

there was no dangerous or maliciousness to timmy's tackle. pretty good story on the guardians website explains the process:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2010/jun/13/tim-cahill-australia-germany-durban

I know its pretty much impossible, but we can dream can't we?!

(just hope they don't see it the opposite way and slap him with a 2 match ban... gulp...)

On the bright side - Verbeek and Arnold are gone in two games time. Hopefully the FFA employs a head coach who doesn't need training wheels this time.

I think Pim should have selected players in the squad that have been playing regularly instead of ones that may have produced before but have not done so recently i.e. Grella, Garcia, Moore (all limited game time this year) vs Oar, McDonald and Ogenovski.
I just can't fathom what he was thinking this morning. I can only imagine that he is a genius and that he is only leading Ghana and Serbia into a false sense of security before anihilating them both 5-0.

Pim, if your reading this. It is sucide to play offside trap against speedy good quality strikers, and with no pressure on the ball. We need to pressure high up in the park, and not let them turn and run at you.

That display was a disgrace, we learnt nothing from the USA game.

Sorry but we cant win without Cahill and Kewell and even if Kewell does play he is not match fit.

Alright Emmo is playing well

Bresciano - out from and injured a bit

Kewell - hasnt played a full match all season

Kennedy - is a dud J-league is a dud league

Cahill - suspended

McDonald - isnt there...

Garcia - works hard but is not spectacular

Culina - has improved due to training in Holland no where near as good as he was in 06

Moore - is just shit house honestly

Neill - Lacks pace not a bad defender but when you partner allows defenders to run around him what can Neill do?

Whilkshire - is doing well but 1 quick defender with 3 slow ones doesnt work u need 3 quick and 1 experience to organise

Velrie - is alright but nothing special SerieB isnt world cup quality

Grella - shit house i dont know whats happened to him but he terrable as of late

Vidosic - alright but inexperienced probably the only decent player the A-league has produce to this day (i dont count keepers)

Schwarzer - cant save everything when the defence in front of him is calling off-sides that are clearly on side.

Chippers - Makes good runs but is way to slow swiss league is going to cut it in the WC

Ruka - not good enough, cant even get a club....

Jedi - not good enough, Turkish super league is average

this is the WC guys what did you expect we have no quality players like we did 4 years ago.

People forgot how good Kewell was at Leeds and Liverpool he has go worst with age.

How skillful breciano was in his day y do u think palermo didnt resign him he is past it?

we had Dukes who was the best striker aus ever had

Aloisi, Vidmar, Popvoic, sterjovski (when he was good), etc and they were sitting our bench!

our team was good good that Cahill was on the bench(fe Cahill was still up and coming) but the fact we are playing Garcia(who didnt play to badly) should shows how desperate we are.

This was the wake up call we all needed.

2nd rate players in 2nd rate divisions may cut it in Asia where everyone is pretty average bar a few decent sides. But in europe we would be a no body moron who were saying European teams dont deserve there spots have no idea i hate to admite it but South Korea are the only Asian team who will progress and they wont make it any further then the last 16.

I think you guys are being a touch harsh on Neill, he was trying to hold the back line together when we were being swamped and Moore and Chipperfield were woefully out of their depth...and Grella was doing bugger all to help as well...I'm not saying he was great but...

I can't blame the players. Verbeek has totally lost it and his "plan" is the key reason why we lost. We had 3 players playing out of their usual possitions. And Putting Cahill up by himeself totaly killed his contribution, leaving him frustrated which could have contributed too him making that tackle.

I am very happy that we won't have this coach after the World Cup.

Having watched the replay of the Ghana Vs Serbia match we're not out of it yet. Germany will outclass both as they did us, we just need to come up with the goods in the next two games.

Probably should have done the maths first Jabulani.

W D L P
Germany 3 0 0 9
Australia 1 1 1 4
Ghana 1 0 2 3
Serbia 0 1 2 1

So basically if we beat Ghana we will just need a draw against Serbia to go through (assuming neither Serbia or Ghana beat Germany which seems 90% likely given how good the germans are playing). Must-win game from every angle against Ghana!

Verbeek you fucking anti-football mother fucker. I just watched the highlights again of the game and it fucking pissed me off even more about how fucking hopeless you are. You must be a very thickheaded cunt for working with Guus and LEARNING ABSOLUTELY NOTHING FROM HIM you piece of shit.

BTW guys, Verbeek probably knows this. That why he wont return to australia, hell fly straight to morrocco after the WC and we wont ever hear from him again. All in the while he fucked up our dream.

Is anyone really that suprised ? Writings been on the wall for some time in my opinion and last night just confirmed my beliefs that Verbeek is a defensive minded and boring manager. We have decent players on the world stage and his tactics show little or no belief in his players....Bring on the asian cup when we'll have a hopefully better manager.
