+xposted in the rumour mill but aleague.com.au just added an 11th team to their drop down menus called TBC (to be confirmed) probably nothing but you never know. They might have heard something If it is fair dinkum and not a technical stuff-up, who would be the best candidate to enter the competition for next season?
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

You would have to say the southern expansion bid, the original announcement stated they had the funds to fully support themselves for a few seasons if I am remembering correctly..
Assuming it's just a stuff up though.

Wolves recruit former Melbourne Victory boss for A-League push New cause: Geoff Lord with the Victory. Picture:. Vince Caligiuri New cause: Geoff Lord with the Victory. Picture:. Vince Caligiuri THE Wollongong Wolves can become a giant of the A-League like Melbourne Victory, new senior advisor Geoff Lord has declared. The Illawarra club on Thursday ramped up its push for inclusion in an expanded national competition by announcing Lord, a founding member of the Victory more than a decade would be involved in a consultation role. Lord said he became involved with the Wolves because he can the club’s potential on the elite stage. “There was never any doubt in my mind that Melbourne Victory would succeed,” he said. “From the very beginning it was clear there was a strong need for national representation and a core fan base who were passionate about football and just needed their own team to cheer for and support. “It was very hard work initially but we made it work and work very well. “The Wollongong Wolves are similar in many respects however have a strong, successful history, presence, fan base and following and cover one of the strongest football nurseries in the country. All the necessary requirements are already existing.” Wolves chairman Tory Lavelle said Lord’s involvement is a major coup for the aspiring A-League club. “We have competed and enjoyed great success previously in a national football competition and we will again,” he said. “Attracting people such as Geoff shows what we are capable of achieving and the level of support there is for the Wolves to return to the national stage. “Geoff has been there, done that and succeeded in every facet of football in Australia and having his expertise, experience and contacts there for us to call on gives us a platform many existing A League clubs would envy.” http://www.illawarramercury.com.au/story/4788910/wolves-recruit-former-melbourne-victory-boss-for-a-league-push/

A-League Expansion and Creation of Second Tier Soccer in Australia. The primary aim is to increase Soccer participation at a grassroots level and reach within the Australian sporting market Year 1. Create a new B-league of ten teams Run that for two years. No promotionor relegation. Top four teams in theB-League at the end of the year go into the “finals” to give all teamssomething to play for in the first 2 years. Year 2. Continuing same as year 1. Allowing teams and players to adjust. Year 3. First promotion from theB-League This year the playoff winner getspromotion to the a-league. This year there no relegation fromthe a-league. Expanding it to 11 teams. 2 new teams then get a licence intothe B league, bringing the total to 11 teams. Year 4. In year four the same again.Expanding the A-league to 12 teams. 2 new teams then get a licence intothe B league, bringing the total to 12 teams. Year 5. The champions of the b-league getautomatic promotion. The 2nd to 5th placed teams enter a play-off for promotionto the a-league. The bottom team in the a-league getautomatic relegation. Teams 10-11 play off for survival in the A-league. Run this for fiveyears. Year 11. The C-league. FFA Cup to continue. League Cup to be created for A and BLeague teams only.

This thread has gone quiet,so I thought I would bring it back to life. An interesting thing is happening in British Rugby League at the moment, which surprised me.I always thought Rugby League was doomed to be a sport restricted to its origins in Britain,Australia and NewZealand.More or less an AFL locked in three countries instead of one.. But through a disicplined promotion and relegation regime and an open door expansion philiosophy, things are gradually changing. A team from France has been in the Super League for a while. But its not locked in and can be relegated. There is a team fromToulouse(France) in the second division(Championship). Of most interest ,recently a team from Toronto Canada has joined Britains Rugby League and was forced to start at the bottom in division three. How does that work.Well quote well.Teams actaully fly to and from Toronto to play, eventhough in the third divison most are semi professional.Yes like our NPL teams. Toronto(Wolfpack) is carving up all teams, as it is loaded with professional players .So next year will certainly be promoted. There is now talk of a team from USA coming in .
How does a Rugby League competiton on the other side of the world effect us? Well look at the hurdles that have been overcome. There's aspiring new teams from big cities and far away starting at the bottom (division 3)and not losing fans. There's blowout scores. There's semi professional teams playing. There's teams from big cities like London in the second division. There's overseas travel costs in lower divisions.(France and Canada) No protecting of teams and no locking teams out.Come one come all.Just start at the bottom rung.
It just shows to me that if you set up promotion and relegation with strong governance and everyone knows the rules, there is no arguement over other issues such as expansion. If you did the same here with Football, who cares who wants to join.Just start them at the bottom and let them fight their way to the top. Three divisions would probably do it. If they aren't willing to do that then goodbye. Professional teams playing semi professional teams to get to the top is not so weird. Professional teams falling through the divisions is not weird. All the neysayers who worry about obstacles ,should take a look at what can be done of you have a go.

@ crimsoncrusoe
The one thing RL doesn't suffer from is fucked up administrators in the head office and the States. That's before you get to the clubs. If we sort that out, anything is possible

Watching the FFA Cup this season, more than ever we need some of the pre-existing NPL clubs to be playing some sort of HAL.
From performances on the pitch alone, these teams have claims - APIA, Bentleigh (the stand out NPL team for mine), SU58, Heidelberg and Blacktown. They have all done enough for a mooted HAL2.
If a best eleven from the whole of state NPL team was selected from the WA, SA, Queensland, ACT and Tasmanian NPLs, there would also be close to sufficient talent for a HAL2 team as well from those states.
This is enough for a 10 team HAL2 league.
Then again, I think 10 teams in a league is too few. The current 10 team HAL needs to have at least 14 teams to make it more interesting and prevent teams from playing each other too often in a season.
South Melb may have claims off the pitch for inclusion. To date they've never played well enough on the pitch IMO to warrant inclusion when I've seen them play. Conversely, Bentleigh Greens have delivered in every game over the last three years.

Southern Expansion's possible stadium location is part way between Sutherland and Loftus Stations. http://www.theleader.com.au/story/4953622/new-stadium-at-loftus-in-a-league-plans/?cs=1255

100% exactly what the League needs. There should be promotion for the next 3 to 4 seasons.
