Objectivity is not necessary. In fact that often hinders being a supporter and gets you on an early bus home on Grand Final Day and you miss the mother of all comebacks.
City, Glory, Wellington, Adelaide are all above us on the table and yet can’t match our crowds after 2 1/2 years of pretty average football. There’s a reason for that - we love our team.
So don’t be surprised when you get pushback from us if you slag our team off. We’re football fans, if you don’t get that, you’re not a football fan ... you’re a generic bucket-head sports fan.
Brisbane Roar is the best team in Australia. Always has been, always will be. I don’t need them to win or play pretty football for that statement to be true. Only plastic fans need that!

As a rusted on Roar fan ..I can be biased..but I have to say ..being as objective as I can be ...we are an average side with some very average players .
If we make the finals it will be a feather in Fowlers cap .
We sometimes play well in fits and spurts but we lack the quality that Sydney FC have allover the pitch to be consistent .
Too many sloppy passes and a lack of concentration at key moments .
A prime example : last week when Inman missed that tap in ...can you imagine Barba or Alf missing that ?
To me , as a one club town in the third largest town in Australia , we should be doing better.
We need to be aiming to have the quality Sydney has .
Hopefully Fowler is building towards that .

You know we can be critical as well but support also means standing up for your team. i have several Melbourne based colleagues who, come grand final day, all gave a team to support because they line up second and third teams - fuck that shit, at club level it’s Roar then no one.

+x+xAs a rusted on Roar fan ..I can be biased..but I have to say ..being as objective as I can be ...we are an average side with some very average players . If we make the finals it will be a feather in Fowlers cap . We sometimes play well in fits and spurts but we lack the quality that Sydney FC have allover the pitch to be consistent . Too many sloppy passes and a lack of concentration at key moments . A prime example : last week when Inman missed that tap in ... can you imagine Barba or Alf missing that ?To me , as a one club town in the third largest town in Australia , we should be doing better. We need to be aiming to have the quality Sydney has . Hopefully Fowler is building towards that . ALF missed an easier one this week.
Fox commentator called it “the miss of the A League season so far, possibly ever” ... Nothing could have been easier than Inman's ...practically an open goal . You would have scored that one. Just watched the Sydney / VIc highlights ....guess “the miss of the A League season so far, possibly ever” didn't make it into the package. They showed plenty of other misses but not whatever that one was . BTW ALF also scored one and assisted another in a 3-0 win. Don't remember his "miss of the season so far ,possibly ever" So Waz ..are you disagreeing with my overall premise that Roar are an average team and should be trying to raise ourselves to Sydney's standard ?

There does come a point though when you keep hearing the same boring posts about "luck" as a way to disregard the form of Brisbane Roar, they are undefeated in 5 games now, in the best form behind Sydney Fc,Perth Glory and Nix.
I think some people will always hate us for some reason no matter what brisbane do this season, but they are free to be miserable.
You are right. People hate Brisbane for some reason and fund as many negatives as possible to keep raving on about. As my very intelligent father once said, people who continuely trash and find negatives wherever they can, says more about themselves than anything else. People don’t hate Brisbane. If you watched the game yesterday, Brisbane were “garbage” yet again, however managed to grind out a result though a deflection. Brisbane weren't garbage for the whole game - where is your even-minded acknowledgement of the parts in the game where they played good, attractive football? For everyone who starts and stops at 'players are average, from lower leagues, shouldn't be visa spots, and all the other beginning and end crap - this is sport. A team of no-hopers who come together properly can be a great team. This is a team that is getting better, and has been since the start of the season. Some of us choose to see the increasing accumulation of good parts as progress. No-one I have seen has declared us to be a great team, or a team that has hit the best form it can be in. No-one I have seen has said we are playing great football all the time. But anyone who refuses to see any good in the team over the whole of a game is talking shite. Some say that results are all that counts when we are not getting results - now they are saying we are lucky, or it is an ugly win. Make up your mind what you measure performance against. These are the people we label mindless bitters and haters. These are the ones we label trolls. They cannot admit that we are an improving team even by adding that we have a long way to go like most of us do. All they do is knock us and amusingly ridicule those of us who choose to remain positive (and are proving to be right in our optimism when the steady improvements in our squad and playing style are viewed against both our earlier season performances and our ladder position). This team, at times, has a hideous defence; but for the rest of the time they are determined and force much better attacks into a relative few chances in a game. That is how football defence works the world over with most games being low scoring. This team has, for long periods in games, a stunted or lost looking attack; but when they come together well they play beautiful football. That is common to football attacks the world over, with the better teams being far more consistent with the good parts. Sometimes this team grinds out an ugly win, but they have yet to play 90 minutes of ugly football. People do hate Brisbane. Probably have reasons too. But not all. Show some perspective in posts and we encourage the discussion. Label it all bad and there is no discussion - just the equivalent of the excellent playground argument "you are".

As a football fan I cannot console myself with 3 points for an atrocious performance and a lucky win”......... Google "confirmation bias". It will explain your issue. More than half the comments from supporters were of this nature champ. Not all Roar fans are blind. How much time do you spend on Roar related sites on the net? You really need to stop obsessing about Brisbane. I'm concerned about your mental health. Probably not enough. WSW, MV, Jets and CCM understand there own teams are trash this season, for some reason a few Roar fans are blind. Scraping in to the top 6 playing atrocious football seems acceptable. Maybe Roar fans understand that supporting your team is a passion and it’s about love for the team above all else.
Objectivity is not necessary. In fact that often hinders being a supporter and gets you on an early bus home on Grand Final Day and you miss the mother of all comebacks.
City, Glory, Wellington, Adelaide are all above us on the table and yet can’t match our crowds after 2 1/2 years of pretty average football. There’s a reason for that - we love our team.
So don’t be surprised when you get pushback from us if you slag our team off. We’re football fans, if you don’t get that, you’re not a football fan ... you’re a generic bucket-head sports fan.

Everyone knows that. We don't have a Le Fondre, a Baumjohann, a Castro, a Da Villa, a Ninkovic, but if we did....maybe? Try watching the whole game, you’ll see the miss then - maybe someone else remembers the miss?
And to try and make out “only Inman” could miss that is talking bollocks - all players miss sitters at some point yet somehow you’re trying to hold Inman to a different standard .... lol Berisha has missed a sitter this season and in the past, some bloke for Nix missed a Sitter vs SFC earlier this season that would have won the game. Anyone that’s been around football for more than five minutes knows it happens even to the best players. And if you want to talk football - that miss was caused by DWH: at the edge of the box he has a decision to make: pass, shoot, take on the defender?
If he’s passing it has to go straight away but instead he takes two additional steps (very common in Australian football) while he decides what to do and then decides to pass at which point Inman is 3-4 meters closer to the keeper who’s now rushing out. It’s still a scoreable chance but his xG has just halved

You haven’t actually built an argument for a premise tbh but if you look at the statements I made preseason I said Roar were likely to be two quality players short of challenging for the title and the best they could hope for was third place and lead a long tail of average sides (that still holds true today although I’d say they need a 6, 9 and a 10 now).
And SFC are a good comparison. Four years ago they missed finals and their current success is built on sound recruiting (they stopped going for the ADPs), stability within the playing squad, and continuity of coaching. All things Roar should be aiming for, yes.
But you don’t have to turn on your team just because they’re not there yet. Shit happens and when it does passionate supporters stand by their team and the plastics fade away (and that’s not to say there’s no place for reasonable criticism because there is, but shitposting for sport - spare me pleeeeease).
