Its far far more complex than that.

Chips you are making an ineffective argument there, you are saying that football players can be made rather than developed. If that is the case then why are the unscrupulous governments not doing this right now?
The thing about football - the important thing about football - is its not just about football. - Sir Terry Pratchett in Unseen Academicals For pro/rel in Australia across the entire pyramid, the removal of artificial impediments to the development of the game and its players. Judy Free wrote:Clearly the TD does not possess the personality or character required for the role. Totally wrong, Judy Free. Coaches must be stupid not to listen to this coach. He has held positions around Australia , including TD roles for various branches of FFA. He has also been a high level performer. You probably still wouldn't know him, Juve Juve. Coaching to you is all about personality and the ability to motivate, Judy. There is also a case of some coaches out there with huge egos who are just too pig headed to listen to new methodology, or recognise someone has more expertise. He is well thought of by the two top coaches down here. He also has excellent interpersonal skills and is very modest and unassuming.

The club TD was really frustrated. He is TD of the club and some of the club coaches refuse to follow his recommendations/directives about playing style and formations. He is only too willing to go through the incremental and sequential stages of setting up 4-3-3 for all that club's teams.
Without any equivocation he is one of the top coaches in the state. If I don't get answers from KNVB HQ in Zeist, he is my first port of call.
What would you do in this scenario?
Do you know of other similar scenarios?
Edited by Decentric: 5/8/2011 01:58:55 AM Well this is just in-club politics. Such an issue should be dealt with by the board as they see fit. I have to say a TD job would be hard. Managers are some of the most arrogant people going around. I remember one of my old coaches, the most arrogant tosser of a coach i've ever had to play under, saying "I don't make substitutions because the team I start with is the best team" DUH! the lunatic that stated this is now in a reasonably powerful position within football in Tas because he's completed a few courses. Edited by JuveJuve: 5/8/2011 03:52:34 PM Astonishing!!! ](*,) Can you post some initials of the coach? Or PM me.

A strong character will take charge but if you've got two strong characters in the TD and Manager then this is when problems may occur. Contemporary managerial theories propose a collaborative approach in this scenario but i'm not convinced.
