i totally agree with cutting welfare....way to many people who are not genuinely in need and who are rorting the system....

Yeah. Cut welfare so the people who genuinely need help can't get it. We have one of the lowest welfare allowances of any first world country and that's pretty embarrassing.

Typical right wing "I believe everybody has the right to be poor."

Love the labor logic in this whole thing. YAAAAY we're gonna make great schools and give people a better education. We're going to make them all more likely to get into university but now we've decreased the quality of tertiary education destroying the point of them getting better secondary education. YAY lets pat ourselves on the back for being geniuses.

I think we're at the point where we can stop worrying about labor policy.

It's got absolutely nothing to do with being poor.....here we are in one of the best countries in the world, with low unemployment rates, and employers struggling to get good staff, the government spending millions helping people get trained and employable and we have record welfare....LOL...:d     :d :d

are you that fucken naive that you think it's that hard to get a job.....there are job everywhere for the taking....!!!!!

difference is in the old days you did anything to put bread and butter on the table and feed your'e family and make ends meet....these days in the era of entitlement if there isn't a job advertised for your'e chosen field you throw your'e hands in the air and say i can't get a job and go and get welfare, and then register for child care rebates, and child endowment and countless other taxpayer wasting scheme's, so after working 35 years in the workforce, many of them without superannuation, sick leave or any on the redundancy or entitlemnets why should my tax $$$$ look after the generation of soft cocks that are useless and lazy and don't know what it means to get a fair days pay for a fair days labour??????

Yeah, except these industries of need aren't entry level positions. They're positions where you have to do years of training like Medecine, et al. Not the kind of industry you want to be recruiting people from the centrelink office for.

Really? I know a lot of people who've been put out of work in my neck of the woods and they've all got families to feed so it's not like they're not looking or not willing to work for it. These men are fathers, some of their children are disabled for heaven's sake (I meet a lot of families at special needs schools). To call these people "soft cocks" is simply outright disgraceful. You're out of touch and entirely out of compassion.

And you have personal first hand experience of these people, and if so how?

Payment rates for Newstart Allowance
The payment rates for Newstart Allowance are updated on 20 March and 20 September each year and are a guide only.

If you are:   Your maximum fortnightly payment is:
single, no children   $497.00
single, with a dependent child or children   $537.80
single, aged 60 or over, after nine continuous months on payment   $537.80
partnered (each)   $448.70
single principal carer granted activity test exemption for either:
foster caring
non-parent relative caring under a court order
home schooling
distance education
large family

http://www.humanservices.gov.au/customer/services/centrelink/newstart-allowance

How are these payments excessive, and would you be able to live on thém if you were unemployed?

once again read the bit in bold above.................

not cutting welfare for everyone, just to the scammers, bludgers and people rorting the system........

Set a criteria for the hardcore unemployed and what you'd plan to do to the social welfare of people who meet that criteria.

This.

Like to pretend he's all for barracking for a better nation regardless of party but blindly pushes Libs at any chance.

Then red bolds the fuck out of text to try and make a point that isn't valid.

I gave up tbh.

So you're in NO WAY qualified to talk about welfare. And subsequently, have no way of discerning who "the scammers, bludgers and people rorting the system" are.

You've NEVER had to live off $450 a fortnight. And to keep repeating yourself like it gives your absurdly textbook liberal party agenda any more weight is just ridiculous.

Batfink reminds me of a guy I knew ,blamed every one for his misfortunes. Can't get a job blame the government or immigrants. Sad he is a typical right wing person who believes everything that the right says without questioning if its true or not .
