https://sites.google.com/site/youthsoccerlessonplans/executive-docsThis is Chelsea (team) number 59 is a good team game and a precursor number 16 game in Dutch Ajax Sessions in the same Academy Sessions thread sticky, sent up by Dirk. I like to set this exercise up as a passing game as listed in instruction 1. I like 4v4 to provide width and depth. I set the small gates up in a diamond shape. Sometimes have a fifth gate in the middle too. Players learn to with play quickly and cover a lot of ground. They also learn to open passing lanes. it is important for the players off the ball to keep eye contact with the player in possession at all times. This is is a great fitness exercise too. I did a more complex version with Phil Moss, Central Coast Mariners' assistance coach to Graham Arnold, like Dutch Ajax drill 16. Arnold learnt it from Hiddink and Verbeek. They did this a lot with the Socceroos. Again many thanks to Dirk. The Chelsea, Dutch Ajax and Arsenal sessions are the real deal. These are what the top pro coaches use. I've sent them to a numer of FFA staff coaches, a US college coach, rep coaches, club TDs, spilt state league senior coaches. it seems all are impressed.:) I've found many uncoached, but skilful, refugee players take too long on the ball. These three academies assist players in moving the ball more quickly. You cannot go wrong with them. One thing i add his that players much all ways do stationary techniques if standing in a queue. Also, make players perform specific dribbling exercises back to the beginning markers if they've shot for goal in shooting exercises. Edited by Decentric: 16/7/2012 11:44:47 PM
