A few friendlies are starting up. WC aussies missing (ingolstadt played this morning).

5 minutes into playing for his trial club Ruka scored. They won 3-1 over Austrian bundesliga side Wiener Neustadt. Ruka one of a bunch of subs at half time when it was 2-0. The report only has the goals at the moment so no descriptions on how he scored or if he got an assist.

Also their official page on him training with them:

Quote:
27-year-old Australian international winger Nikita Rukavtsya, currently on loan at FC Frankfurt from German side Mainz 05, has joined Maccabi Tel Aviv’s pre-season training camp in Austria for an a mutual impression.

I think Ruka is making a mistake, Arab clubs don't hire players who have gone to Israel,
it would be not only a backward move, but it would aslo rule out any Middle East junket in the future.

Don't even know why I checked for an Aussie at FC Eindhoven as the site I use (ozfootball) hasn't updated the transfer but Luke Kairies (19) played the second half in a 2-2 draw last night. They were 1-0 down when he came on so both he and the first half keeper conceded one.

Looking at their keepers according to soccerway they have three. Muyters a 29 year old Belgium who played 19 games last year, Wagener an 18 year old who sat on the bench last year and Kairies. They have a 38 game season in the Eerste Divise so I am guessing they lost their first choice halfway through last season. Not really stretch for keepers at the moment and I doubt he will make an national team side over an on form A-league keeper but hopefully he can be first choice and fight for promotion.

Sainsbury back playing. Got half an hour in an easy friendly (10-1 win). Started and was subbed after 35 minutes. Only mention of him in the report is his manager being happy with him so the early sub seems planned rather than an injury. The didn't concede while he was on.

Quote:
Trainer John was pleased with the return of Trent Sainsbury and Leroy Labylle, respectively, for half an hour and twenty minutes played., especially in the first half was game very well. " Saturday comes PEC Zwolle back into action. For five hours will be kicked off in Kampen against a selection of DOS and Go Ahead Kampen.

PEC Zwolle: Boer, Turan (46. Pereira), Sainsbury (35. Van Looy), Broerse (46. IJzerman), Van Hintum (46. Blackson, 68. Labylle), Mokotjo (46. Marinus, 68. Rasevic), Rienstra (46. Domingo), Moro (46. Karagounis), Drost (46. Saymak), Thomas (46. Mahmudov), Nijland (46. Ferfelis)

Looks like we will have a ton of defensive options for the Asian Cup:

*Zullo looks a decent chance to be give first shot at LB with Bulthius gone. Dorda who was competing with Davo at Heracles I think is the only other in the first team.
*Sainsbury should be a starter considering they played him after he had only been in the country for a few days.
*Davidson looks to be staying at Heracles so that should be a guaranteed 90 mins week in week out
*Williams back will almost certainly be playing 90 mins a week.
*Herd from what I have read is mentally and physically ready to go
*Spira will be getting 90 mins a week for WSW should be able to keep progressing well.
*Mercla going on his form from last season would almost be certain to start for lokomitva
*Good will either go back to Dundee which isn't to bad or may get a few starts in the EPL
*Mcgowan should be heading back to Europe soon
*Franjic may get a gig with Split which would be a decent move.
*Lowry you would think should be able to scrounge a move to a low championship team

Mrcela got his first start for Locomotive Zabreb in a friendly. He played the first half before the whole team was switched out. His half end 1-0 to Locomotive with the match ending 2-2

Quote:
Lineup Lokos look like this: Šarlija, Bartolec, Mrčela Ćalušić, punch, cyclicity Pavicic, Begonja, Kolar, Muscle and Budimir

The locomotive has a beautiful lead in the 34th minute. Mark punch is performed phenomenally center shot he Budimirov head, and the Buddha's cold, head egzekutorski scored on a rather attractive and brought Lokos in the lead!

The first half we saw off a 1-0 for Lokos, and in the second half, coach Lokos, Tomislav Ivkovic, almost completely changed the team on the field. In the second half they ran Radelic-Žarkov, Gorupec, Prenga, Šporčić, punch, Bručić, cyclicity Šovšić, Čabraja, Gržan, Dolezal.

In the first minute of the second part of Poets equalized after inserting the corner. But shortly after the locomotive again took the lead a beautiful new Lokomotivinog reinforcements, Jana Doležala.
But a few minutes later, Zagreb's re-leveled, so that the final result was 2-2.

Would be great if he broke through, especially since he had an A-league loan. Would be good if English clubs saw the A-league as a viable loan location

I know but he did get some first team football and if he has come back a better player Reading and other similar clubs will consider future A-league offers.

For A-league clubs they are players which do not take up visa spots and most will be on low wages. If players are brought in for better reasons than just that they are your son I am sure some championship academy players could do well here.

He's at Stoke now, the U-21's coach switched and was keen to take him, he played two or three U-21's games for them towards the close of the season before they announced his signing.

K-League is back. Full match for Jovanovic against league leaders Pohang, ended 0-0. Cornthwaite and DeVere stayed on the pine.

Sarota starting in a friendly against an amateur club. Bloke on twitter saying Zullo was supposed to play but has a minor 'ache', no injury.

Sainsbury got another start vs an amateur side. Last update they were 9-0 in the 60th minute. Sainsbury most likely off by then. (Off Zwolle official Twitter)

Babalj didn't play in AD's first friendly

Ryan Williams started for Fulham vs East Fife. Subbed at half time. Fulham won 3-0 with all goals after half time
