+x+xTry Green And WhiteSouthern Expansion have signed a sister club agreement with Chinese Super League club Guizhou Hengfeng in a move they hope will help further strengthen their bid for an A-League franchise.
Southern are expected to announce the relationship on Thursday after Southern’s financial backers, Chinese property giant JiaYuan Group, made a significant investment in Guizhou’s parent company, Hengfeng Real Estate.
Guizhou Hengfeng, based in the city of Guiyang, are last in the 16-team Chinese Super League after 11 matches this season. Hengfeng Real Estate became owners of the club in January 2016. The club changed its name from Guizhou Zhicheng, as well as its colours from green to white, under new ownership. https://imgur.com/a/6xI94mlhttps://imgur.com/a/B02D4FJ Close

Concept Kits for Southern Expansion FC I realize the name will probably change as well as their crest, but this is what I had to work with. Went for Roma inspired kits as they don't really clash with any other clubs. https://imgur.com/a/44rZmWlhttps://imgur.com/a/4cGSOlJ

What sucks most about this expansion situation is the fact there's only talk of 2 clubs entering the league. If our of the 12 bids you have 4 great bids then why accept 2 and reject 2 when you can simply add both at the same time. Some people will say this is hard but let's not forget we had 8 in one hit when the league started and with over 1 year remaining that's plenty of time to get everything sorted. And even then if you can't do it then atleast choose the next 2 bids to enter the following season giving those 2 bids an extra year to get themselves sorted.

+x+xThey are talking 15 bids in by the end of the day. Approx 10 named here in this thread Brisbane Strikers 15 to go Gold Coast - Sunshine Coast - Cairns - Team 11 (?) - South East Melbourne - South West Melbourne - South Melbourne - Tasmania - Adelaide - Southern Expansion (Sydney) - Fremantle Team 11 Geelong/Not Geelong/Patriots/West Melbourne West Melbourne (heard absolutely nothing about them except one HUN article) South Melbourne Southern Expansion SW Sydney Macarthur Wollongong Wolves Brisbane City Western Pride Gold Coast United Fremantle West Adelaide (no longer teaming up with Adelaide City who are aiming for new second div) Tasmania Canberra (not sure if this one is actually happening) Makes 15 All recent news reports that the Canberra bid is definitely happening.

Nothing highlights the deficiencies with the current HAL model more than the ability of Qld Teams to compete in it. Qld has a significant number of Football fans/registrations,but in reality noone can afford to compete in the Franchise model FFA runs. Roar only exists now because a Brisbane team has to be included and Frank found a foreign patsy. The reality is Qld isnt full of wealthy football fans who want to give away their money. So even if all the fish were here and all the best players produced came from here, the franchise model makes it too costly for any team to pay for the privilege to compete. Seriously if you have to pay 10mill just to join the competition, then are excluded from a significant source of revenue, you would have more money than sense to join. Until a new model is produced based on merit not the size of bank accounts,Australian Football will always be 'different' and unfortunately doomed to repeat history.

@ feed the Bronx
The Brisbane bids all lack a few critical factors - infrastructure, government support and financial backing.
Sadly the Brisbane bids are all looking poor compared to what’s coming out of Sydney and Melbourne.

David Davutovic and Daniel Garb both think the 2 teams will come from Melbourne and Sydney. I always thought Brisbane would get the nod ahead of Melbourne, but Brisbane City aside, their bids don't seem to have a lot of substance. I'm starting to think Southern Expansion and Team 11 will be the 2 teams.

Im sure they knew that he was at least dodgy to an extent. Team11 havent covered themselves in glory getting close to this bloke either. Granted he has never been charged with anything but why bother?

I wouldn't be worried one bit what sort of crowd they get when two AFL clubs not representing their state or city is playing against each other. I love football with passion and if Melbourne Victory was playing against Perth Glory 5 minutes from my house in a normal league game I wouldn't waste my time attending if I had tickets for free let alone pay for it. On the A-league bid however I'd only accept Tasmania if they entered the league and played out of a new football only stadium. Even a small 10k capacity would be good enough for me. Playing out of their current AFL/Cricket stadium wouldn't be acceptable if I was in charge of the criteria for a successful bid.

Could the Tasmanian A-League expansion people explain how, if the AFL can't pull a crowd, a Tasmanian A League team could?

+x+x+xTeam 11 is such a stupid name for a football club Mariners is definitely up there with the elites. Victory,Roar & Glory are very traditional sounding names also. I was just pointing the irony out to Mr. RedShirt through his team.

+x Seen the render on Casey Councils Facebook recently That's from the video I posted above, that render is based on Dandenong Showgrounds (Greaves Reserve), you can see for yourself in the Google maps link I provided. Doesn't mean that the plan hasn't changed and they're using old renders though, especially going off this tweet.
