Nothing highlights the deficiencies with the current HAL model more than the ability of Qld Teams to compete in it. Qld has a significant number of Football fans/registrations,but in reality noone can afford to compete in the Franchise model FFA runs. Roar only exists now because a Brisbane team has to be included and Frank found a foreign patsy. The reality is Qld isnt full of wealthy football fans who want to give away their money. So even if all the fish were here and all the best players produced came from here, the franchise model makes it too costly for any team to pay for the privilege to compete. Seriously if you have to pay 10mill just to join the competition, then are excluded from a significant source of revenue, you would have more money than sense to join. Until a new model is produced based on merit not the size of bank accounts,Australian Football will always be 'different' and unfortunately doomed to repeat history.

What sucks most about this expansion situation is the fact there's only talk of 2 clubs entering the league. If our of the 12 bids you have 4 great bids then why accept 2 and reject 2 when you can simply add both at the same time. Some people will say this is hard but let's not forget we had 8 in one hit when the league started and with over 1 year remaining that's plenty of time to get everything sorted. And even then if you can't do it then atleast choose the next 2 bids to enter the following season giving those 2 bids an extra year to get themselves sorted.

Concept Kits for Southern Expansion FC I realize the name will probably change as well as their crest, but this is what I had to work with. Went for Roma inspired kits as they don't really clash with any other clubs. https://imgur.com/a/44rZmWlhttps://imgur.com/a/4cGSOlJ

Try Green And WhiteSouthern Expansion have signed a sister club agreement with Chinese Super League club Guizhou Hengfeng in a move they hope will help further strengthen their bid for an A-League franchise.
Southern are expected to announce the relationship on Thursday after Southern’s financial backers, Chinese property giant JiaYuan Group, made a significant investment in Guizhou’s parent company, Hengfeng Real Estate.
Guizhou Hengfeng, based in the city of Guiyang, are last in the 16-team Chinese Super League after 11 matches this season. Hengfeng Real Estate became owners of the club in January 2016. The club changed its name from Guizhou Zhicheng, as well as its colours from green to white, under new ownership.

With a bit of balls, bucks and luck 10 of those teams are viable. Can't wait for it to all fail and for bluebird to permanently entrench himself upon his high horse
He was a man of specific quirks. He believed that all meals should be earned through physical effort. He also contended, zealously like a drunk with a political point, that the third dimension would not be possible if it werent for the existence of water.

With only 2 teams to be added the unsuccessful bids would be the first people talked to about a second division (unless is it started independently).

+x+xFunily enough the Adelaide baseball team was bought by the Adelaide Crows AFL team Interesting. It was classic AFL reporting when the deal was signed. They announced it as Adelaide's conversion into a sporting club like Barcelona. I thought that rather cute for a club that hates sockah.

Are we at the point where the successful EOIs have been notified and everything is out of the public eye while we're distracted by the world cup? Are we are the point where we think this was FFA's intention all along?

(Maybe not the right thread) http://www.abc.net.au/news/2018-06-25/female-football-in-sa-puts-the-pinch-on-afl-facilities/9905956Do AFL really need 171 new ovals in SA, or is this one of their own overestimations like their junior participants?

So much for a "short" list... From Ray Gatt: I believe the final list is about to be sent out. Macarthur, south-western Sydney, Southern Expansion, Wollongong, Team 11, Western Melbourne, South Melbourne, Western Pride, Canberra and Brisbane City have made the cut 12:50pm · 29 Jun

Haven't posted in a while, but my instinct is there won't be any expansion for atleat 5 years
Looking at it from the FFAs view it made sense to expand the number of teams if the ALeague clubs got 3 votes in cogress, eroding their power when representing the other teams
With the latest course of events regarding not meeting the terms of Congress expansion my feeling is expansion will be postponed
I expect a massive backflip from FFA
