Back to uni tomorrow. Lecture at 8am, so I'll have to wake up at 6. What was I thinking. :x

Worked out my uni/work timetable for this semester. Easily the best I've ever had. Only at work for long days on Mon, Wed & Fri - uni totally on Tues and Thur. No classes running past 5pm either.

Repeat the course? The lecture this morning wasn't too bad. The guy really loves his analogies.

Roar_Brisbane wrote:I've noticed several people on here say they've failed a course, what actually happens when you fail? Do you have to take another test? Repeat the course? At Newcastle Uni it really depends on the situation and the lecturer. I've gotten between 40-49 overall in courses before (50 to pass at our uni, anything under is just a fail with no grades), and every time I've gone to my lecturers to talk to them about it. From my experiences, and from others I've heard, the reaction can vary from: - lecturer is feeling good on the day, tells you he'll give you 50 anyway. - lecturer is a douche, tells you that you need to do the subject again - lecturer offers another exam to be done in holidays to everyone who failed - lecturer offers another exam to be done in holidays to everyone who got a certain mark that was a "narrow" fail - lecturer asks you to re-do an assignment - lecturer has pre-prepared a supplementary assignment for the failed kids who see him to do - lecturer grabs a textbook and asks you to do a random question in front of him - lecturer asks you a definition of something you learnt, if you get it right he'll pass you. - lecturer is overseas on holidays. Responds to your email and says that he'll pass you solely for making the effort to get in contact with him. - lecturer flips coin. heads you pass. - lecturer takes you on in scissors-paper-rock, if you win you pass. So ultimately, depends how chill your lecturers are. But if you fail and can't get a re-sit or something, you're doing the whole course completely again at a later date (whether your uni offers night/summer school or anything like that - idk) Edited by pv4: 24/7/2013 12:59:00 PM

Only under special circumstances do you get to take another test. In the subjects I had to repeat I technical failed. I had excellent marks in assignments and labs when I failed, the lecturer brought those forward so the only assessment I did again was the final exam.

Interesting I get incredibly nervous when it comes to my final exam's. (Even though I shouldn't).

At USyd you have to repeat the course unless you approach the faculty and ask for a consideration. They can often be lenient given a lot of degrees require prerequisites to be completed before moving on in the degree, so a failed subject could really fuck things up. Just depends on the subject and degree. I feel especially bad for the international students paying roughly 4 times what local students pay, upfront (no HECS), and having to repeat if they are given a fail. Actually looking forward to uni starting up again, had a solid semester one (B. Chemical Eng) pretty happy with it. Edited by jparraga: 25/7/2013 01:42:52 AM

Got Monday 11-2 and Wednesday 9-5. Awesome timetable although a couple of lectures clash which sorta sucks because I don't really like missing lectures.

How do they fit that in? The most contact hours I've ever had is 6. Most subjects just have 4. 2 hour lectures, 2 hour labs and 1-2 hour tuts.

Did a really good job as a discussion leader the other day. \:d/ \:d/ \:d/
Felt look I had everyone in the palm of my hand. (Even the tutor). :d
When push comes to shove I always do a great job, yet I have almost no self confidence. :?
