Open to 208 clubs. No regional qualifying, so we may see all the forfeits again from the Melbourne based State League teams not wanting to travel outside the city.

NPL & NPL1 clubs enter in Round 4, so require 4 wins to qualify for FFA Cup proper. Victory & Heart youth teams not included in the cup.

Only 20 places available that have to be shared firstly between New State League Clubs (like an earlier posters Gisborne SC), then any remaining spots shared between the approx. 74 regional league clubs (Warrnambool, Ballarat, Bendigo, Sunraysia, Goulburn NE, Wodonga, Gippsland & Geelong) and approx. 15 stand alone Metropolitan League Clubs.

Yep we (Gisborne) need to go through the qualification stage to get into the Dockerty Cup. Really hoping we draw our Local rival Kyneton. Cup Derby!

9 wins gets us in the FFA Cup lol

Its only 8 wins to make the FFA Cup. Prelim round, then Rounds 1-7.
1st round of FFA Cup proper (32 teams) is Round 8 this year.

NNSWF Preliminary round draw

and article

This is for the "southern" half of NNSW (Newcastle, Hunter and Lake Macquarie). The northern half draw is to come and will be a different format to this.

Incidentally, I don't think it looks much at all like the previously posted description of the draw process (unless their definition of a sub-pool is way different to mine), so someone must have had a change of mind at some point.

Who are the clowns running this comp in NNSW. The way they have set up this cup for the Southern Pool means that they will have 15 teams left in Round 3, come Round 5 they still require 12 teams from the Southern Pool.

They should have set it up like this.
NNSW Southern Pool
Round 2: 22 Zone clubs play (11 get a bye through to Rd 3) (33 teams)
Round 3: 11 Rd 2 winners + 11 teams that had Rd2 bye + 8 NEWFM 1st Div Clubs (30 teams)
Round 4: 15 Rd 3 winners + 9 NPL clubs (24 teams)
Round 5: 12 Rd 4 winners (12 Teams)

Round 6: 6 Rd 5 winners + 2 Rd 5 winners (Northern Pool) (8 Teams)
Round 7: 4 Rd 6 winners
2 winners from Round 7 qualify for FFA Cup final 32.

Yeah, the way they have set it up now for NNSW in the Southern Pool. All 15 remaining teams will need a bye in Round 3, and then 9 of those teams will also get a bye in Round 4. Its like the organisers in NNSW have no clue on how to organise a cup competition. They stuffed it up in 2014, and have stuffed it up again in 2015 (although slightly better).

The FFA NT will hold a knock-out competition among clubs to decide who will represent the NT in the round of 32, Mr Chapman said.

"That will most likely commence at the end of March or the beginning of April next year," he said.

"We've got a timeline to meet as far as having the NT winner. It needs to be provided towards the back end of May next year.

Borroloola look interesting. They won. They are an ethnic Australian team. They seem a lot more interesting coming from outside of Darwin and not being called Hellas or Azzuri etc

Another intersting team would be the RAAF team.
Or Kunnanurra which is just over the WA border.

Hunter sides benefit from revised FFA Cup draw

HUNTER region teams will have a greater chance at FFA Cup glory under a new draw for the Northern NSW Football division.

NNSWF’s State Cup knockout acted as a qualifier for the inaugural FFA Cup this year, but the national competition brand will take over completely in 2015.

The State Cup was structured so four teams from the northern zones of Mid North Coast, North Coast, Northern Inland and Far North Coast made the final eight.

A maximum of two sides from the top tier of NNSWF, the National Premier League, progressed to the quarter-finals along with interdistrict clubs from the Hunter Valley, Newcastle and Macquarie zones.

But NNSWF has changed the structure for 2015 to allow only two places for northern pool teams in the last eight.

In the two-part southern pool, NPL clubs will take up three of the remaining six places if the higher-seeded teams prevail. At least three quarter-finalists will come from first division and interdistrict clubs.

In the June 20-21 quarter-finals at the Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility at Speers Point, two southern teams will be drawn against two northern pool sides. The remaining southern teams will play each other.

Semi-final match-ups will be drawn from a hat.

The semi-final winners will qualify to represent NNSWF in the FFA Cup round of 32, which featured Broadmeadow and South Cardiff this year.

NNSWF senior club and referee development manager Gary Fisher said the draw would be made using a pot system similar to the FFA Cup draw last year which separated clubs ranging from A-League to grassroots level into three categories.

Fisher said the change allowing only two clubs from the northern zones to make the region’s last eight was in line with the number of nominations received from the two pools last year.

Nominations are open and close on December 8.

Fisher said NNSWF was hopeful of the competition receiving a similar response to this year, when more than 80 teams in the region took part.

The first round will be held on February 21 and 22, which will include a gala opening and matches at the new Lake Macquarie Regional Football Facility. Some games in round two the following weekend will also be held on the two state-of-the-art synthetic pitches.

● In NPL news, Edgeworth have signed former South Cardiff striker Brenton Olzomer and Emerging Jets products Chris Fayers and Beau Wilkins, both members of the Jets under-16 team that won the under-19 NPL double this year.

Olzomer captained Berkeley Vale this year and hit a hat-trick in their 7-4 Central Coast grand final loss to The Entrance.

^ this is outrageous. SA still gets one. FFA need to take over. Newcastle 1 team. Northern pool grouped with GC pool.

Again looking at the Qld model, Brisbane has many more teams entering but football Queensland doesn't make others travel to Brisbane because there are more teams entered from there. They ration out the spots over the state.

I don't like the Queensland model because it means that if the best 4 clubs in the State are all in Brisbane then they can't not all qualify. I would prefer that regional qualifying for rounds 1-5 was finished off with all the teams thrown into the pot for the last 2 rounds. Might mean some travelling, but if your that close to the FFA Cup proper I'm sure the teams will be willing to travel.

But think of it re:travel. It's a ridiculous ask for them to travel. Speaking of which, any news on any of the other qualifying routes? Rumours?

What the F does it matter. I'd like to see participation numbers from the northern pool. Not just the amount of teams who entered last year. If the southern pool has 75% of the total players in NNSW then fair enough. But if its less its not just that they are willing to bump up their numbers by including the northern pool then not having them fairly represented.
This is why I have no problem with nsw losing spots. The include the bush players in the count but exclude them basically (make it too difficult) for them to participate.

You can quote numbers till blue in the face. The reality is the FFA want to spread representation.

La Fiamma confirms bid for 2015 FFA Cup berth

Chapman Athletic, Olympic Heat, Rovers or La Fiamma soccer clubs could take on Hyundai A-League teams next year.

The nationwide FFA Cup has been opened to all clubs around Australia in 2015 and nominations are open for all Mid West clubs to put their names in the hat.

La Fiamma committee member Lindsay Cannon confirmed the Reds would apply to enter the competition, but Mid West Soccer Association president Greg Lumley said they would qualify through the metropolitan zone.

That is because each club can only enter one team and must go through their highest level of competition, which would be the Reds’ Sunday League division two team.

Geraldton clubs can nominate for round one of the cup tournament and face a local knockout competition to determine who advances to the next round.

The winner advances to face other regional winners and then progresses to play Perth sides.

Cannon was hopeful applying and playing in the FFA Cup would attract players to the area and help develop young Geraldton players.

“Our primary goal is to advance to division one in the Sunday league, but hopefully applying to the FFA Cup will get a few players to come and play with us, ” he said.

“We are appealing for players to come on board and support Geraldton soccer in this pursuit.”

Local sides have until January 30 to nominate and pay the $300 fee, $250 of which will be paid by Football West.

The Reds are yet to confirm a coach for their 2015 campaign, but Martin Leeson is the front runner.

Leeson coached two seasons ago and Cannon said it was likely Leeson would get the nod.

“The coach is not appointed officially, but Martin has put himself up as head coach once again, ” he said.

“Sunday league is definitely a go, as well as a new-look strip to go for promotion this year.

“It’s all hands on deck and training will start in January — earlier than ever before.”

Has anyone seen confirmation that the qualifiers will be 90 minute games this year? Last year the NNSW state cup was the basis for FFA cup qualification and consisted of 70 minute games...
