Kawana SC Expelled From FFA Cup
05.06.2015

Kawana Soccer Club has been found to have fielded a player without an international transfer certificate in their 2015 Westfield FFA Cup Round 4 Qualifying Fixture and under FFA Cup Competition Regulations are expelled from the 2015 Westfield FFA Cup.

The determination was made by a Football Queensland Disciplinary Committee on Friday following earlier adjournments.

Westfield FFA Cup Competition Rules determine that Noosa Lions FC now progress to play Sunshine Coast FC in Sunshine Coast Zone Qualifying Round 5.

With competition requirements stipulating Qualifying Round 5 be completed before 14 June, the match is preliminarily scheduled to be hosted by Noosa Lions FC on Tuesday, 9 June at 7:30pm.

Coach Robinson wary of Hume City’s latest signings By Michael Pollock June 6, 2015, 12:34 a.m.

BALLARAT Red Devils’ history- making run in the FFA Cup continues on Saturday.

The McDonald’s Reds will attempt to advance into the seventh round when they take on Hume City at Morshead Park.

The Red Devils are familiar with their opponents, having played and beaten Hume in last year’s National Premier Leagues Victoria season.

However, Ballarat coach James Robinson is wary of Hume’s latest signings.

City has bolstered its stocks with former Melbourne Victory striker/winger Theo Markelis, as well as former Swedish professional Daniel Clark.

“We know what their strengths are,” Robinson said.

“They’ve got good ball players and quick wingers.

“If you give quality players time on the ball, they’re going to make you pay.”

The Red Devils have been typically adept at stifling the opposition’s play with their fierce press this season – a trait Robinson hopes his players will continue on Saturday.

Ballarat enters the clash in decent form after a tough run of mid-season NPLV1 matches, but more importantly, with a clean bill of health.

Captain Shaun Romein has returned from suspension, while Liam Harding and Jimmy Downey are both over their injury woes.

In contrast, Hume played out a gruelling draw during the week and enters the clash on a three-day turnaround.

But in Robinson’s words, “form goes out the window come cup time”.

“The adrenalin on the day, you can utilise that as a motivation,” he said. “They have to back up three days later. We’ve done the same before and the adrenalin, drive (and) passion (always) goes through the tired legs.”

Ballarat Red Devis v Hume City just kicked off in Ballarat. The Red Devils already took out one of the top NPLV teams in Bentleigh Greens last round, can they do it again today? Two ex Victory names on Hume City's side:

South Melbourne claim epic Cup derby

South Melbourne players celebrate scoring against the Melbourne Knights.
Saturday, 6 June 2015 -
Damien Bellemore
Comments
South Melbourne are through to Victoria's last stage of qualifying in the Westfield FFA Cup following a heated 3-1 win over the Melbourne Knights at Lakeside Stadium on Friday night.
A penalty from Milos Lujic cancelled out Tomislav Uskok's opener, with Nick Epifano scoring twice in the last seven minutes to seal South's win against their arch-rivals.
The result is the club's third over the Knights this season and sees them now just one win away from reaching the FFA Cup Round of 32.
Despite a glut of chances neither side could find the back of the net in the first half, the best opportunity falling to Newcastle Jets bound striker Andy Brennan.
Playing his last match for South, Brennan made a break down the left wing and was through on goal but goalkeeper Chris May denied his effort, pulling off three saves in quick succession.

Instead it was the Knights that scored first through Uskok after he buried a powerful header into the back of the net from a corner.
Goalkeeper Nicola Roganovic, who had defender Tom Lakic to thank for clearing an earlier effort off the line, got a glove to the header but was unable to keep it out.
South pushed bodies forward in search of an equaliser and got back on level terms in the closing stages after the referee pointed to the spot for a handball inside the box.
Lujic made no mistake with the spot-kick, sending May the wrong way as he guided the ball into the bottom-left corner to the delight of the home fans.
A frenetic end to the match saw Epifano cover himself in glory with a stunning curling strike from distance to put his side ahead.
After making a surging run down the wing the attacker cut inside on the edge of the box, unleashing a classy finish that went in off the post.
Epifano made sure of the result in the final minute finishing off a swift counter-attack as the Knights pressed desperately to get back in the game.
Both sides finished the contest with 10-men after tensions boiled over in injury time.
Uskok and Roganovic were sent-off for their part in a scuffle that saw all 22 players on the field involved.
Despite the spiteful end to the game it was South Melbourne left celebrating at full-time, the final result avenging their exit to the Knights in last season's Cup qualifying.

Would love to see Foxtel (in the next few years) get down to the grounds with a camera and reporter for the final qualifying games. I think people would really enjoy and get to see how much it means to the players to qualify for the round of 32. It wouldnt be so hard in Sydney and Melbourne etc and would be great material pre -game for the r32 matches to introduce the team etc. Hopefully Foxtel look to improve their coverage year to year.
